We are having our wedding at the Swan in June. After paying for the wedding, we couldn't afford a delux resort so we booked POR at rack rate. I found out today we can get into a standard room at the Swan for the same price as rack waterview at POR. Which would be a better bet? I like the thought of a delux resort for moderate price, although if codes come out for June, we could probably get POR quite a bit cheaper if its anything like last year, and we could add another day to our Disney tix. My daughter will also be with us (although will be spending sometime with her grandparents) so I like the thought also of queen beds instead of full. But we have never been to the Swan and have stayed at POFQ and visited POR and liked that alot. How are the Swan standard rooms? Anyone have any pics of the standard rooms? Any suggestions on which to choose? Ok, I'll stop rambling now and listen. Thanks! :flower1:

I'll start by saying it's been years since I stayed at POR and I've never been to the dolphin (but ok, I am just plain opinioated :smooth: )

I think I would pick the dolphin....
- ease for wedding day
- ealk to Epcot, MGM and BW

Good luck whatever you decide.

Swan and Dolphin are both very nice. Sign up for the Starwood Preferred guest card so you can earn points. We always get upgraded with the Starwood resorts. :wizard:

If it were me I'd switch my reservation to the Swan! You will love the location, right there on the Boardwalk, near all the restaurants. You will have the Friendship boats to leisurely take you up to MGM or Epcot or you can walk. There are surrey bikes (bikes for 1-6 people) to rent, the area is magical! It is my family's favorite area to stay in. We love the BWI best, but we have stayed at the Swan. The Swan will have queen size beds and if you have read anything about the Swan you will have read about these heavenly beds ~ best bed I have ever slept in!

We have stayed at POFQ and thought that it was lovely. But not as nice as the Epcot area resorts. No indoor corridors, no queen size beds, no balconies and no sit down restaurants. Plus, you will be having your wedding there! Wouldn't you like to reminisce about your wedding AND be able to reminisce about the fabulous stay you had right there without having to move?

My vote is for the Swan.

Happy Wedding!

I would definitely switch to the Swan or Dolphin. The heavenly beds are FABULOUS!! It is really a great location, within walking distance to EPCOT International Gateway. I also love the Boardwalk and very romantic at night with the lights and lake.

Let us know what you decide to do. Oh, and congratulations on the wedding!!

Go for the Swan. Before you book check with someone with Dreams Unlimited travels, they are a sponsor on this board. I don't know about June, but right now they are running Swan specials for the weekends through Feb 6 at $159 a night, free one catgory upgrade and late checkout. This is a DIS member rate. I have been dealing with Bob there for that trip and with Sue Ellen, who is a moderator on this board for our April trip. Both have been delightful. Plus, if you sign up with Starwood you will probably get that upgrade and late checkout.

Swan/Dolphin! I have stayed at the Dolphin once the Swan once POR once and POFQ 3 times and I love them all but you just can't beat the S/D forclass, comfort, closeness to Epcot and the Boardwalk and MGM... You won't be sorry with any of the 3 resorts but IMO S/D I would stay in a heart beat and you have a Great price. Congrats! on your Wedding..

The Swan and the Dolphin were designed as Convention hotels and with a standard room, that pretty much is what it will be... a standard room with nothing more. For romance and the Disney feel, I would choose PO-R. That is where we stayed when we finally got to take our Disney Honeymoon, and it was fabulous. Our favorite buildings were Alligator Bayou bldg 14 and Partiere Place. We thought the theming and the setting were fabulous, and make sure when you make your reservations to let them know you are on your honeymoon!

Definitely the Swan! If nothing else, go for the heavenly beds. ;)

If you can get the Swan for the same price as POR, then definitely go for it. Those discounts are becoming harder to come by, so take it while you have the chance. Since your wedding is at the Swan, you will like being right there on site. The Swan is a very nice deluxe hotel, and they've been known for going out of their way for honeymooners.

If you are getting married at the swan, you should stay there too!

I don't see the magic in moving to POR... a wedding & honeymoon is something special.

I just want to thank everyone for their help. And also, you guys are great...the reason we were able to get our room at such a great rate at the Swan was because of a code someone on here told me about. When I called, they still had availability for the code so I grabbed a room quickly. And I also told the girl we would be on our honeymoon and asked if they had standard rooms close to the fountain courtyard (where we will be getting married). Actually she wasn't very nice, but I don't care. We got our room for a great rate and we're keeping our fingers crossed that we can get a room close to the courtyard. Thanks again!
