Oh, A Drunk Little Cucumber!! - F&W Fun with Bro and Sis Nov. 11*UPDATE 6/17* Pg.32

I kind of wish we had explored more over at IOA when we went, but we did HP & Jurassic Park. You say it's not as bad as dinosaur? All of Universal rides to me just seem to be just rides/coasters (this is coming from me not having gone on any of them) and stuff I wouldn't like, but I'm going back to WWOHP in Nov, and plan on going on more of them then!

I just think that Jurassic Park in comparison the Dinosaur is really lame. But I like Dinosaur a lot, so that is likely where my opinion is coming from.

If you don't like coasters, then I would suggest not going on Rip Ride Rockit, The Mummy, and Dragon Challenge. I personally love the Mummy, but it is a coaster style ride, so you may not love it.

Definitely go on Men in Black, ET, Shrek 4D, Disaster (it's cheesy, but I like it because I'm a huge Christopher Walken fan). The Simpson's might be a bit much if you suffer from motion sickness. But explore and check things out.

Ooh, I think you summed up my thoughts completely when you said that Disney is more of an immersion experience versus Universal. It is kind of choppy and not a lot of logic in the flow of the park.

Totally agree with the lost potential in Marvel Superhero area. We got to see the "parade" of superheroes and I was like, that's it? They just ride the motorbikes out down the street and it's done in like 4.5 seconds?

Jurassic was a bit Lame and when we went it smelled a little funny too. That was enough to distract me. I don't like wierd smells.

Day 4 - Tuesday November 8, 2011

So we left off with Chris and I heading out of IOA and on to Universal. We had not eaten lunch yet, and let's all remember that I really dislike the food at Universal as a whole. Like, other than Mythos, I still had not eaten anything there that I deemed edible. Now, I know it may seem like I'm exaggerating, but you have to consider that if you've had three separate bad experiences, at three separate CS locations there, I mean, let's take sports talk. They were batting 0 and 3 for me.

So we headed into CityWalk and ate at Burger King. It's a good old standby. You know what you're getting.

It was fresh and hit the spot for us. After that, we were on our way to our next destination.

Then, the coolest thing ever happened! We spotted the Despicable Me minions! "Da da da!" I love them! They weren't taking pictures with people anymore, we just missed them. However, their handler was nice enough to let Chris and I take a picture of them without us in it RIGHT before they left.

We were waiting for our stomachs to settle, so we headed to....

Wow. Lame. Like, I remember when Twister came out and we thought it was epic, right? So we go in here and I'm not saying it's horrible. But there are better things. And you can tell it's outdated, because Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton look so young in the clips. And Bill Paxton is rocking a sweet sweet mullet. Like, the sweetest mullet ever. Universal.....remember, this movie was filmed in 1995. Let's do some basic math......we all know what Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton look like now, and it's not how they look there.

Anyway, I digress. The other thing I forgot, because I haven't been on this attraction since Dinosaur's roamed the earth, is the fact that water falls from the sky (ceiling?) and if you're standing too close to the front, you'll get wet.

Who was standing in the front?

This loser.

Fortunately for this loser, the twister comes and the "wind" (fan?) blows so hard that you dry off. So it wasn't so bad.

Afterwards, we headed over to....

Where my stalker was waiting for me.

You know, he followed me from ancient Egypt and stuff. I can't shake him, but what are you gonna do?

And here is where we encountered frightened child number 2. She was having a full on panic attack before we got on the ride. And her dad was basically making her get on the ride. It was like drama queen child day, because again, like the other child on Jurassic Park, you could tell that she was milking it. He kept telling her she would be fine. She was not convinced. In any way shape or form. But she got on the ride. And basically had a meltdown the entire time.

Mummy....."aaaaahhhhhh!!!!"

Scarab....."aaaaahhhhhh!!!!"

Fire....."aaaaahhhhhh!!!!"

My ears....."aaaaahhhhhh!!!!"

I was so happy when it was over. And she still was not happy. Giving her dad a dirty look all the way down the ramp. (Also, let it be known that this girl was about 12 years old. Prime drama queen age).

Up next: You cannot escape the mouse.....he's EVERYWHERE!

Right?! It is kind of choppy and such. OMG, I forgot about the Superhero brigade! You're all like "yeah.....what?"

I didn't notice any weird smells. But then again, I may not have really been paying attention. However, one thing that Farrell and I noticed was the fact that Universal overall had a stinky smell. Like, either it smelled like garbage or sewage in some areas.

That stinks that you had been having disappointing meals at Universal!

Love the little Minions! Too bad you just missed being able to take a picture with them though! But that's such a cute picture anyways!

The bad meals that I've had made me nervous about eating at some of their locations. I'm not implying all of their food is bad, because I haven't tried everything.

I love the Minions! They're so funny. I hope that the Despicable Me attraction that they're building ends up being a good one.

Well my Universal food experiences are 0 for 2, so I am also hesitant of eating there. I never thought of going to City Walk to BK or something. That's a good idea.
AW! The MINIONS! Sooooo cute!!
I actually went so far as to dislike Twister. Yet another epic movie with a lame ride. What's with that?? :confused3 I found that Universal put a LOT of hype into their rides, got me too scared to go on, then when I finally convinced myself to ride, it sucks.
Ahhh well, they can't all be Disney.

Okay, I'm glad I'm not the only one with a poor food experience average at Universal. CityWalk is a great option. However, I did find a decent option in January. Not outstanding, but it was good enough.

You're right, they can't all be Disney. The way I feel about Universal is that what they have that's good is really good. Everything else is just kind of meh.

I read your update before I left for work and I'm glad I did so I could see the picture of the Eygptian hottie! :thumbsup2

I got stuck on the Mummy once for what seemed like an eternity. As a result we were given 4 express passes for whatever ride we wanted. We didn't need them because we were already staying on site, so I kindly offered them to a family of 4. But I didn't know the mom was huddled in the corner still having a nervous breakdown over the ride having gotten stuck. Either that or it was just her husband and teenage boys who got stuck. Not sure. At any rate, once I offered them the passes I noticed her completely stressed out state and she screamed at me (an I mean screamed) "I don't want those. I WILL NEVER GO ON THAT RIDE. NEVER. WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" :scared1:

It was a little unnerving, to say the least! Looking back, it was quite comical and her poor embarrassed family was trying their best to calm her down.

Oh my goodness sake, I don't know what I would do if that happened to me! Probably just look at the lady like this . I've always taken in forgranted, because I worked at a theme park, but I never understood why people got so freaked out about getting stuck on rides. I'm always like "cool!!" But then maybe I'm the weird one. :confused3

Ugh! I really, sincerely hope that my children don't become 'those' kids. :lmao:

I had no idea there were so many rides there. Too bad they're old and nothing like Disney rides. Wonder if we should ever hit this place? I know for a fact that I want to see WWoHP for sure...hmm decisions, decisions.

I think most people would not want their children to be those kids. See, it's not that I'm not empathetic, but I have plenty of nieces/nephews to know faking from reality.

I think that going is worth it. One day in both parks is normally enough for me. It's worth seeing, especially if you have never been or haven't gone to see WWoHP.

I'm so behind! Ugh!! I'm all caught up now :) I'm glad Chris liked his Butterbeer :) I have yet to go to the BK place in City Walk :)

That's okay! Life gets in the way sometimes, so it's all good.

Chris kept making a joke about the Butterbeer later in the trip. He kept telling me "hey, you have an annual pass. Just go, park, I'll stay in CityWalk and you can go in and get us Butterbeer!"

Minions! Despicable Me was one of those movies that I liked a lot more than I thought I would. I would most likely started squealing.

Lol, Universal has issues when BK is the preferred food choice.

I agree, I liked that movie a lot more than I thought I would too! I just love stuff like Minions. You know, only there for comic relief. That just makes it fun.

Anyone would have issues when you've gotta choose BK as your food option. I mean seriously.

I'm in!

Wanted to comment on your Universal day. The last time dh and I have been to Universal was back in 1999 on our Disneymoon and we were quite disappointed actually. There were only a few attractions we liked and Twister was not one of them. I remember us reading the warnings on the queue outside but once the show was over, we were like "huh? There were warnings for that???"
We would have been much better off going to IoA. Then we had kids and they were a little young for that whole thing so we definately want to do IoA next time. The girls will be old enough to appreciate it more. At least my oldest one will, she's definately more the thrill seeker.

Can't wait to read more!

I love seeing all your Universal pictures; I really would like to go there sometime soon! It's been many many years since I've been to any Universal park (about 18 years ago!). We didn't have a good time, so I've never been back, but they DID build IOA so I'd like to go and give it a try again. After all, there are a LOT of rides I'd like to try that I've been built since then!

I would definitely recommend going if you have some thrill seekers in the group. There are a lot of good rides, but would definitely say that there are not lots of family friendly rides. I would certainly not take my niece there. No way. She would not like it at all.

Definitely try to make a stop on an upcoming trip. It's improved for sure, and WWoHP definitely gives it an edge. Forbidden Journey is a very unique attraction, so I would recommend checking it out.
