Is there any information on the Royal Pacific Resort at Universal? I was wondering if anyone has stayed here and what their opinon was if so? If you have any information at all from your own experience or can direct me to more reviews, information I would very much appreciate it. Thank you :wave2:

A friend of mine who is a travel agent (she's stayed at all the Disney hotes and the Hard Rock Hotel) did a split stay between Pop Century and Royal Pacific and she said her family preferred Pop!

I've stayed at HRH 3 times and I've loved it, but I've heard so/so reviews for Royal Pacific.

I've heard varying reviews of RP, My family and I prefer Hard Rock !! maybe check the Universal board on here for more info ??

I loved the Royal pacific hotel, my family stayed there in the summer of 2003. It is set on beautiful grounds and the pool area is amazing. Not to mention only a short walk to the parks or an even shorter boat ride. The front of the line express perk is the best perk offered by any theme park hotels in my opinion. You simply show the attendant your room key and you move into the express line for any and all attractions. Also, there is no limit on how many times you use this benefit. We would go to the parks in the morning and come back to the hotel to relax at the pool in the afternoon. I think you would enjoy it if you want to try it out!

We prefer RPR to any other hotel @ either WDW or Universal. The only staff that is even close is @ CSR. My family wants RPR every trip. This May will mark our 6th year in a row. You'll love it!

we stayed at the RP last year and are planing to stay again this year. Its great! The hotel is lovely and its so close to Universal. The water taxis are a great way to get back and forth. It was a much more relaxing trip. Because of FOTL, you don't have to get up and be at the park first thing in the morning. We would linger over breakfast, sometimes swimming before we left for the parks. We would go to the parks for a couple of hours, have lunch at city walk and then head back to the hotel for a swim or a nap and then head back to the park early evening. The staff is great! Of the three, RP tends to be the cheaper, but it is in NOWAY a cheap hotel. Its really really nice!

We loved the RPR when we stayed there. My kids who were 10 and 4 at the time really enjoyed it also. My only complaint was that when we stayed there in the off season it was very hard to get a quick meal for the kids at dinner time. The pool bar stopped selling food early and the only place to get food without going into the sit down restaurant was the bar. I cannot remember the name of it, but it took forever to get take out food. It was a great bar, though! The next time we went we stayed at the HRH. Loved it! That is where we will stay again next time. I like the proximity of HRH to the parks. By the way, I cannot imagine someone preferring POP to RPR. I am a big Disney fan also, but the hotels, esp the value and moderates, don't hold a candle to the Universal properties. I would say the deluxes are more in line with the Universal hotels. I really think some people are just so pro Disney that they don't see any of the faults!

We stayed there very recently (November) and liked the resort very much! It was so pretty and very relaxing (although being just after Hallowe'en was a quieter time).

I like the lush landscaping, particularly around the Orchid Garden Lounge, and found all the staff to be very pleasant. Loved the pool! Room was very nice - we overlooked the pool, and housekeeping did a good job.

The launches take you to the parks or there is a path - not too far but remember you have the parks to negotiate too!!

I was not so keen on the Islands Dining Room for dinner, and found the service and atmosphere better in Jakes bar. However I'm not keen on constant fast food so would have preferred to go to Tchoup Chop - I can't believe we didn't actually get round to eating there!!

Its like a 5 star resort in my opinion. There are even authentic wood carvings in the elevators and laundry rooms. The detail is beautiful. What would make it perfect for me is if the rooms had balconies and there was a pool slide. I loved the theming and found the staff very helpful and polite. Rooms are very nicely decorated but a little small for 5 so we are going for a kingsuite upgrade next trip. I think it looks much better than the rooms at HRH - they are in need of a renovation.

So happy to hear all the positives reviews on RPH, we will be spending 4 nights there in March after 6 nights at POFQ and I am so looking forward to having FOLP!

we stayed at RPR in Nov.2004
my kids loved it and we are coming back in May and will be staying here again. The whole atmosphere is gorgeous! We walked to and from the parks everyday!Fotl is very very nice,my teenage boy cannot say enough about fotl
he is totally spoiled.I love Disney but my 2 kids choose Universal over Disney due to the fotl and the coasters!!I think you will be very pleased with this hotel. The only problem we had was on checkout they charged us money for items they said we used from the fridge deal and we in fact when we left we left almost 1/2 case of water in our room that we had purchased on a grocery run.I called the hotel and they removed the charges no questions asked!
Just make sure you look over your credit card statement upon arrival of home.

I was thinking the same thing. PC is like Motel 6 compared to RPR. AAA has even downgraded Disney's value resorts to two diamonds while rating the Universal Resorts as four diamonds. The only Disney resorts to earn 4 diamonds this year are the YC, BC (not including BCV), and the GF. I have nothing against the values, I've stayed at them plenty of times, but I have always felt the values are overpriced considering the lack of service and amenities they offer (especially when they are breaking the $100/night price). I guess AAA agrees to some extent.

RPR is a great hotel. Highly themed and has a very upscale feel to it. All of the Universal resorts are excellent hotels and are rated 4 diamonds by AAA. We have stayed at all three, but the RPR is our favorite. It just has a relaxed atmosphere and feels like you are away from it all. The Islands dining room has an excellent breakfast buffet, and the pool is huge and lots of fun.

I must tell you that I ADORE the RPR! We have stayed onsite at all three and this resort is truly fantastic! For all the reasons previous posters have stated... Emeril himself even has an onsite restaurant TCHOUP CHOP which is out of this world. Personally, I prefer to go there with just my DH while my oldest babysits the other two! You just have to immerse yourself in the whole Pacific Island atmosphere that this resort offers. I think it is superb and I hope that you will find it so, also! Have a great trip!

OMG...preferring POP over RPR...that is just wrong.

Royal Pacific Resort is wonderful. Great restaurant options, beatifully decorated rooms, excellent ammenities. If you have been to disney resorts, you can compare RPR with disney's deluxe resorts (maybe just a bit nicer than most of disney's deluxe resorts), and for a much better price.

I'm with you webray-how on earth could anyone prefer a motel 6 with a pool to RPR?!!!
All I know is I sure wouldn't want to use that travel agent's services. :rotfl:

Hi,

We just came back from the Royal Pacific (stayed Dec 14th through Dec 17th) and I have to say I do not think it's worth the money.

We split our trip, staying at Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter (which was VERY nice-CLEAN and Quiet!) then checking out and heading over to Royal Pacific. Honestly even though I was very happy with the disney room, I couldn't wait to check out because all I had read about Royal Pacific made me anxious to stay there.

We checked in, Loewe's first member....and check in was terribly slow. I won't go into too many details there. My problem was the room. Now we are not picky people. All I want is a clean, quiet room. I don't need anything fancy to be happy. We booked our room in Oct, club level king room, non-smoking. We get to our our rooms (we checked in around 10 and received our keys and room right away-which was nice)....we walk in the room, it STINKS like smoke! The table has a little note that says it was prepared non-smoking. Immediately I am not happy. The carpet is horribly stained (i took pictures), and there is a pretty bad patch job on the ceiling. Again, I'm not happy, we're paying well over $200 a night.

We go down to the front desk and ask the woman if there is another king room available Possibly with a view of the park? (we had a highway view) She tells us no. Annoyed we walk away, she comes over and says that if we want to change to a Queen room she may be able to help us. I ask her if there is just another king room available on the club floor, doesn't matter about the view, because our room stinks. She tells us no, but she'll send up an air cleaner right away and that will help. Once again, I'm not thrilled but say fine.

We go to the parks, come back, the air cleaner is in the room, and it really did help. So that made me happy, but I just don't think for the money I should have any of this aggravation.

The bathroom was nice, kept very clean (honestly the cleanest part of our room). Couple of lights burnt out in the room. Turn down service was nice, they leave you a small 'gift' each night and bring you ice.

On our last night we got back from Seaworld-a note on the free shuttle-It leaves to go to Seaworld almost an hour an a half after Seaworld opens, and leaves to go back to the hotel before the park closes. So if you want to see everything, there's a good chance you won't be able to--definitely not the last Shaumu show, being the short December park hours. We ended up taking a taxi both ways. So we get back from Seaworld and our bed has already been turned down, and there is a stain about the size of a quarter, which looks a lot like blood (and it's not from me or my husband!) We call star services and ask them to change the sheet, which they did. My thing was how did housekeeping not notice when they made the bed? Or how did the turndown lady not notice when she turned down the bed? It was very noticeable (white sheets) and she put our "gift" right around it.

The front of the line access is a great feature (although we didn't need it because the parks were empty). The water taxi's are great, can't beat it. We ate the Island's restaurant twice, food was GREAT, service excellent, prices not so bad because you actually get decent portions. Wednesday's they have a card magician named Dr. Cardoo who is REALLY good, still can't figure out how he did it.

The club level is fine. The free drinks are nice, I think the breakfast is good enough (bagels, toast, boxed cereal, pastry, fruit). Lunch time they have lots of veggies, pb&j sandwiches, fruit. Coffee is good.

It is quiet at night, we only woke up once around 2 am with a loud group in the hallway but I think that's to be expected, so I was very happy it only happened once.

All in all, I thought the hotel was just fine. If i had the same room I had, but paid $100 less, I wouldn't complain.

If you want to see pictures of the room, email me, I'll be happy to send them. We also did the Beluga Whale Interaction Program at Seaworld if you want any info, you can email me for that too! J

hmmmmmm, first time to post on the dis and this poster comes to this thread and post the love of disney on a universal board.....

glad he/she did enjoy the fotl

whenever i have had an issue at universal, it is taken care of immediately.
cant say the same at disney from my experiences there.

next time, try one of the other two on site hotels universal has to offer.

It's not my first time posting, I just had to get a new name. I didn't post my LOVE for disney, but when I compare it to my Royal pacific experience it was better. And believe me I was shocked to say that. I truly felt my Royal Pacific experience would be awesome and it wasn't.

I'm just trying to give an honest review of MY experience. I do agree with you, when we go back, we'll split our trip again, and stay at a different Universal Hotel.
