OFFTOPIC: Royal Pacific Hotel at Universal-Opinions please

why did you have to get a new name?
i see some disers on with 2 names and never knew how they could do that.

i read all the rph posts as i am in a quandry for this coming vacation in the fall.
i have always stayed at hrh and love it completely and totally.

since it has gained in popularity and sells out in october, they have really raised their rates. people that love it there, will pay the high cost, which i have been doing the last 3 years. ent book no longer valid at hrh the last 3 years.

i am trying to decide if i should stay at rph. for the dates i need it would be $183.20 + tax per night

pbh: $231.20 + tax per night 463 sq. ft.
hrh: $233.20 + tax per night 375 sq. ft
rph $183.20 + tax per night. 335 sq. ft.

i am staying 3 nights. do i want to save money? will i miss the shortcut from hrh? i just dunno........

the prices above are for the cheapest rooms each hotel has. standard view some listed as garden but we know that means parking lot.......lol

hrh is higher than pbh.....
i have been in the rooms at rph as my friend stayed there 2 years ago and i spent time over there. the rooms are in a dark decor and smaller than hrh. the lobby is fantastic.......and a better choice of resturants than hrh.
the kitchen is not my first choice for dining. either the palms, too time consuming.

all i want is a place to sleep in, as i spend my entire time around hhn event.
i do the park in the morning, come back early afternoon to change clothes, then back to the park by 3 and stay til the joint closes down ...2 am on weekends.

like i said, i keep reading all the posts about rph trying to make myself realize that is where i should book ..........but i haven't yet.

even with the AAA rates, which i did not list here, hrh is stil the highest hotel for my time period.

i can recommend to you hrh if you try universal again. hopefully you like music as it is played 24 hours in the lobby and elevators.

I think you should experience each once. That is a good deal now a days for PB or just go with RP, also a good deal. I think you will enjoy the new experience and not be unhappy.

since the other 2 are cheaper than hrh, fee fee , which one would you choose?
maybe i should make a poll for my decision.

Macraven, I hope you and FeeFee won't mind if I put my 2 cents in here! :goodvibes I would go with the RPR just for this trip... after all, you really can't know what you're missing until you try it! I DO adore the HRH after trying it this last trip... and that being said with just a STD room and no hot water! lol! The Portofino is GORGEOUS but I would definitely try the RPR this October!

disbug thanks for your thoughts.

i am starting to think i should try rph for this next trip and save over $165 or more (taxes) for the room.

or since pbh is cheaper than hrh, this might be the time to stay there.
probably rp would be better, shorter walk to the parks if the boat shuttle is full. the busses run about every 30 minute. the first year, i took the bus to the other two hotels, got out and checked out the lobbies and pools, that type of thing. but it took forever to get the bus if i missed the first one.

We love PBH the best. The RP rooms are kinda cozy. If you are really going to spend that much time in the park and it is just 2 of you, I say just save your money. I am always happy with RP too. I try to alternate evenly, but this time we're back to PB since our last trip was only for 1 might. I also tend to go with who has the upgrade available at time of reservation.
