The "apologies to car renters" thread made me wonder if I could post this here. What OFFSITE restaurants do you like in the Disney area? I will have a car for 2 days before checking into my Disney resort (couldn't get all the days/location I wanted) so I'm thinking of exploring the area, a little "vacation before the vacation" thing. I'm hoping to find places that are interesting, not too expensive, not really chains (unless we don't have the chain here in New England, hahaha). Thanks in advance!

One of our favorites is The Celebration Town Tavern
It's been a few years since we've been there.

We make it a point to go to CTT at least once every trip. Usually twice. There is no better value in the general proximity of the bubble than CTT in our humble opinion. Excellent variety for about any taste with great service and reasonable prices for the area. We love it.
Okay, that looks like a good place! I guess the only thing is deciding do I want to go all the way to Florida from CT and eat in a New England style tavern lol. :D

Nothing fancy but, solid places we visit. The chains mentioned are not near our home:

cheddars, millers (onion soup & Thursday prime rib special. Their new sirloin steak special on Tuesday? Hard to beat for price point), bonefish,

Heading towards universal area:

NYFD pizza, Beth’s burgers, toojays, rusteak-doughnut burger yum

Two locations of Charley’s steakhouse (one near celebration the other north) our fav steak house in the area. Bit pricey & bus casual sort of dress.

If venturing to Sea world, sharks underwater grill Is usually a solid choice Much better than what coral reef has become

This is going to sound silly, being as I live in MAINE.... but the Celebration Town Tavern looks amazing! It's ridiculous that we don't have a decent seafood restaurant in Bangor, but... we don't, IMO. Keep suggestions coming, but CTT is up at the top of my list!

DW and DD love Cowfish. I haven't been yet, but they (a) rave about it and (b) visit everytime they go to UO, and often more than once.

My inlaws retired to Steuben 25 years ago. I too have been amazed at the lack of seafood all up and down US1. It's not just Bangor! You'll love CTT. I get their combination platter almost every time I go. I'm from eastern NC where seafood is everywhere. It's not as good as here, but it beats anything else I've found in the area.

Not sure if it's a chain, but we hit Chuy's just behind AKL a lot if you like Mexican.

Homemade Tortillas and Chips.

Chuy’s is a Tex Mex chain and is very good. We have one 1/2 mile from our house and go every couple of weeks.

That's funny. We are about a half mile from the the one by AKL, so we go often as well=or is that the one you are by as well?

Lost shingles and pool screens but we are in MN so have only seen pics.

We are in NC and there are a couple in our area.

Check out the good restaurants over at Sunset Walk like Gloria Estefan's Kitchen. SW is by the Margaritaville Resort & the Island H2O Water park, close to Disney AK.

Never miss breakfast at Hash House a Go Go.

Carrara, Texas Roadhouse (excellent steaks at very reasonable prices), Cracker Barrel.

Susuro. Beginning of Palm Parkway. Small joint. Will take you to 1970s Tokyo. Best natto (納豆) you ever want to try.

We love this place and always go on our AK or water park days.
