offsite recommendations?

Hi all

My family is planning our 4th trip to WDW this spring. Due to school commitments, we are traveling the week before Easter. Our reservations are at All Star Movies. We have stayed there before and love it. I have always believed that onsite was the way to go. We have a limited time frame so that extra hour in the mornings made a big difference to us. Now that Disney has apparently discontinued Early Entry for resort guests, I am considering staying off site. I love the onsite hotels, but without that perk I have trouble justifying the expense. Because we are traveling during peak season, our rate for the All-Stars is $109 plus tax (quite frankly this is the highest rate I have ever heard of for the All-Stars) If I can find something clean and not too far from the parksfor less I will change my reservations.

So hear are my questions--Is it possible to get a good rate the week before Easter?? Can someone recommend somewhere they have stayed recently? Like I said, clean is the absolute most important thing. We spend all day in the parks so I don't need any extras.

Thanks for you help...

Lake Buena Vista. We stayed there in Sept for 2 nights and then switched to All Stars Music. If I could have cancelled the All Stars I would have. We had a 2 bdrm suite that had a king bed in one room, 2 double beds in the second room and a sleep sofa in the living room for $89.99/night (through Hotelkingdom.com)! You may not need that much room, they also have a 1 bdrm suite. A continental breakfast was also included. The hotel was cleaner than the All Stars and we had so much more room (we had 2 rooms at the All Stars). And it was actually closer to the parks than the All Stars, even though it was off-site - it's right outside Downtown Disney. Hope this helps you!

My sister and I stayed at the Magic Castle located at 5055 W Hwy 192 (1-800-446-5669). We were very impressed as to how clean the rooms were. At that time the rooms were $24 for a single and $6 extra for my sister. I do not know how they charge for a family. If you go to www.roomsavers.com you can get a coupon for this motel. When I made another reservation with them for next weekend (Jan 5), I mentioned the price on the coupon and that is what they gave me.

The things I especially liked were:

The cleanliness of the room

The great (and free) continental breakfast that included cereals, muffins, bagels, donuts, pastries, toast, bananas, apples, coffee, and milk.

The excellent location. It took just minutes to get back and forth to WDW (if you avoided 192 where all the other people drive) However, even 192 wasn't that bad, I just get impatient at stoplights. I usually left WDW from the Downtown Disney area going to Hotel Plaza Blvd. Then I would take a right onto Hwy 535, drive a couple of miles (not a lot of traffic on this road after the first 1/2 mile) and then take a right on Poinciana Blvd. The motel was about 3 blocks from there. I always deliberately missed the traffic on 192. If you are closer to Osceola Parkway when you leave, take that. You only have to pay one toll ($0.50) I think.

The excellent television reception, Seems like a weird thing to notice. But we had stayed earlier at Courtyard by Marriott across from Downtown Disney and they had terrible reception and not as many channels at Magic Castle.

If you want clean, the Residence Inn LBV just opened this summer.

check out the R.I. at www.residenceinnlbv.com

Very nice.

We paid $l05 nitely thru quikbook.com for 2br2bath, free hot and cold bkfst. Near dt disney.

Sher,
we are traveling to WDW the same time as you. I just booked(hotelkingdom.com) Hampton Inn Maingate West for $58 a night. It has a fridge, microwave, deluxe free continental breakfast...It is 1 mile to WDW, and it looked great. I did a search for it here at the Dis and it came up with favorable reviews. I have personally never stayed there, but it looked very nice and it was a 3 diamond rating.

We stayed at the Springhill Suites at the Marriott Village in Little Lake Bryan. Our rooms were Freebies, so I'm not sure about the rates. There are bargans to be had there right now. I was very pleased with staff, sevice, cleanliness. I would definately stay there again. It took us 7 to 10 minutes by car to MK. less than 20 minutes to get from Hotel to inside the park.

I am noyt sure of the age of your kids - but here is my favorite...

We stay at the Days Inn - Irlo Bronson Pkwy (Maingate East it is called). It is right next to Old Town - the rate $34.95 a night for my family - AND my daughter eats all meals FREE! There is a cafeteria and a carousel resteraunt on site. Free park transportation, 3 pools, gift shop etc.... perfect. PLUS it is on a strip with a grocery store, tons of shops, tons of resteraunts both fast food and sit down. 2 minutes from Disney!!!!!!

Very inexpensive and great deal!

We stayed at Comfort Inn LBV.. It's just outside of the downtown disney area. It was like 32. a night.
It was clean, and cheap!! They also have a family suite, that's 10 more. I have the website link some where. email me if you would like it. ( they have a refrig, and microwave in the room)

Have to agree with hercamore. We stayed at the RI LBV and it was great. Also got the two bedroom/two bathroom suite at quickbook for $105 a night. We will definitely stay there again!

We too have stayed at the Magic Castle Inns & Suites for a period of time during our last trip and I thought it was very nice and clean.;) The staff were very helpful and the super continental breakfast you get saves you a large amount of cash especially if you've got kids! Hope this helps! BTW we were there in Nov/Dec 2000 and got a great rate of $29.00!
