Offsite Mexican Food in Anaheim (with car)

And I wouldn't rule out Vietnamese. Garden Grove, part of which is in the Anaheim Resort District, has the largest Vietnamese population in the U.S. and some of the very best Vietnamese restaurants in North America. Look at Broddard Restaurants and Quan Hy. They are both truly outstanding.

Yep...there are th main Vietnamese strongholds in the U.S., the D.C. area (particularly Northern Va.), the Gulf Coast (La.), and Orange County, Ca.

It was hard to resist when I read that LA also has awesome Thai/Vietnamese food. I am refusing to look them up because we get great Asian food near me but nothing at all like Cal-Mex.

Despite being on the Pacific Rim, I've never found L.A. Thai food all the different from good Thai food the rest of the U.S. or Canada. I have to take that back, east of Hollywood, you do have a Thai population that offers more indigenous dishes as well as the old favorites (plus, the Palms Thai Restaurant in Hollywood has Kevin, the Thai Elvis impersonator...when he's not on tour). I have had Thai food right around the block DLR with a friend when he was in Anaheim on business...it was only okay.

It actually is east Hollywood. Thai Town is part of the United Nations along Sunset Blvd (Thai Town, Little Armenia, Little Moscow, Chinatown and the Mexican neighborhoods of East LA where Sunset's name changes to Cesar Chavez.

Thai places like Sapp Coffee Shop, Red Corner, Jitlanda, Sanamluang Cafe and The Shrimp Lover Hollywood are among the most popular spots among the locals.

Not a Mexican rec, but your DH might enjoy Thai Nakorn in Garden Grove. It is quite good and not far from the parks. (There is a sister restaurant in Stanton, but we've had better experiences at the GG location.) Order off the specials menu and don't hesitate to ask your server lots of questions. The servers speak good English for the most part, so it can be fun to learn about new dishes. For Northern Thai (Isaan?), there is Renu Nakorn in Norwalk (not too far from Anaheim). We've had very good meals there, too.

Every time I have read the title of this thread, I think, "What does this person's nationality have to do with staying off site?" My brain registered it as "I'm visiting DL from Mexico and we are staying off site and renting a car."

So I thought, "oh! Maybe they are asking for driving directions or tips on how to navigate around LA's very crowded freeway system."

Then when I read the body of the post, I realized...Mexican FOOD!

Are any of these places within a short walking distance from disneyland? Our last day after a bus tour we will need dinner but no car. We are staying at HoJo's thanks for letting me hijack!

Another good spot is called Los Sanchez. You leave Disney and head South on Disney Drive. This becomes West St after it crosses Katella. When West dead ends into Garden Grove Blvd, you will make a right, then a quick left into Los Sanchez. It's like a 5 minute drive from Downtown Disney and it's very delicious.

None are walkable, but Mi Casa and La Casa Garcia are on the ART shuttle route and the Anaheim Indoor Marketplace has a free shuttle.
