We are staying at RP in Aug. Is it possible to walk offsite to eat somewhere? I see there is a KFC close. Thanks for any input.

How long a walk are you interested in? It would probably be a 20-30 minute walk to off-site restaurants from RPR.

There are tons of on-site restaurants and some of them are just as reasonable as the off-site ones and a lot less hassle.

Prices of restaurants are very reasonable, and if the KFC is the one on I`Drive at wetand wild, i wouldnt bother , must have been the worst place i went, Called in to get a snack for DD and DW and must have took over an hour, and the food was terrible.

Just to say ,we ate in the Islands at the hotel a few times during our stay and the food was excellent and not to expensive, and Jakes bar was very good to.

Thanks for the quick reply. It is just that my daughter is highly allergic to peanuts and the old stand by take outs are not great but standard and therefore safer than the unknown. I emailed Universal and the chef emailed me back it is just very limited to what he felt she could eat at the takeouts. The sit downs we could talk to the Chef. Oh well I will email him again and ask about the ones in RP. I think he only does the Parks but could tell me who to talk to.

Ask him about the hotels and Citywalk.

She should be fine at places like Boulangerie which serves sandwiches and salads.

I suggest starting a new thread asking about anyone's advice on where to eat at Universal if you have peanut allergies. I am pretty sure that this question has been asked a few times before. Tlinus's daughter is highly allergic to peanuts and they spend quite a bit of time down there. Perhaps you could PM her.

Hi - My name is Tracie and yes we do have a daughter who is SEVERELY allergic to peanuts. We go to Universal ALOT and have had no problems with their counter service foods. They do not use peanut oil - they use a trans fat free safflower oil blend. You do not need to get fried food at counter service areas in the parks, they have fruit as an alternative and some places have salads on their menu as well. To be safe, stay away from the cakes and the chocolate chip cookies - we will usually get her an icee, smoothie or something else as a sweet treat.

Are you arriving to universal by a towncar service? I would suggest taking them up on a grocery stop so that you can have safe snack foods on hand - like I know court can have oreos, so we will get a few boxes of the 100 calorie packs to throw in the backpack. Goldfish too :thumbsup2 just to have in case she doesn't feel comfortable with making a snack choice - she knows she has some in our bag.

I really wouldn't worry about the counter service places, there is pizza, bbq, hamburgers, mac and cheese, etc and we haven't had to use the epi pen with Court as of yet. The restaurants onsite - just talk to the server and let them know of the allergy and they should be able to help you out.

Hope this help you out a bit!!

tlinus, thanks for the help. It seems it is like Disney. Ask and be prepared. I guess we will not bother eating off site. Thanks again to everyone.
