I'm sure this has been asked but I can't find the thread. Does anyone know of a reasonable place to eat a decent dinner that is not in the parks or in Citywalk? TIA.
Too many places to list.
Rent the car if you are flying in.
You can head north on Kirkman and there is a Boston Market on the right. Outback is also that way.
Then there is I-Drive with everything you could imagine.
Where are you staying?
This is why I (as if anyone listens to me anyway) recommend renting a car vs Mears or limo to whatever Universal Hotel you are staying at. You will save a bundle by being able to go to Kirkman or I-drive for dinner instead of being forced to eat at park or hotels or citywalk.
There is no Applebees near I-drive.
was gonna list em but it would be a large list and I might miss some. Selection is huge.
Only one I will mention is TGI Fridays on Kirmkman within walking distance of Portofino and HRH.
We are staying at RPR and of course we are renting a car, why else would I ask for restaurants in the area? Thanks for replies and the link was very helpful. Does anyone know of a site that might have a map with the restaurants on it? I went to DL last year and found a map that listed all the surrounding restaurants of the araa and it was very useful, wondering if there is one for WDW and USO areas? TIA
I found something that might work.
I brought up Yahoo.com and typed in International Drive Maps and many sites came up.
Here's one that lists restaurants. http://www.internationaldriveorlando.com/directory/
You can also visit the www.Publix.com grocery stores. There is one just north of USF at the intersection of Kirkman and Conroy Road in the North West corner. They make great subs in their deli.
Flippers Pizza is the best and a favorite of the boards here. I ordered in, a little bit more than fast food pizza places, but well worth it. Their number is on that web site.
Thanks for the links, they are very helpful. And Flippers delivers to RPR? Any good chinese restaurants that deliver in the area that you could recommend?
Yes Flippers delivers to the hotels. I stayed at the HRH. I called, went down stairs about 20 minutes later, and the driver pulled up to the side parking lot (not valet). They'll walk into the lobby and call you, then you go down and meet them. I was already down there, called them back, and they told me where he would drive up, and sure enough, there he was. Flippers has deep dish Chicago style pizza, and anything else Italian you could imagine. I brought gallon size zip lock bags and saved the left overs, even brought it home for a snack.
Here's their web page link. http://pegasus.cc.ucf.edu/~br165509/
I think the Kirkman location is the one I called. Yes, it's a little bit more than fast food places, and I tipped the driver $5, but it was great food and worth it.
Don't have any Chinese recommendation. I'm sure if you write down some of those locations from the map above, and then drive by them, you'll find one you like.
