What do you folks recommend? We will staying at BW PPI in late Feb 2012. We are not picky eaters - and are "value conscious". I have heard a couple of folks offer that other than the continental breakfast offered by the hotel, we should avoid Captain Kidd's. Are they really that bad (based on a recent visit)?

Looks like Mimi's and Millie's are nearby. We have never eaten at one of those, so your opinions would be appreciated. Denny's, one of our old stand-by's is also near. IHOP, unfortunately, will never get another dime of my business. Also, what about Tony Roma's?

Our taste tends to run towards "light" selections. We like grilled fish, chicken, soup and salad combos and fresh vegetables. I can't remember the last time I ate a burger out (we prefer our own ultra-lean we raise), but I have tested some grilled chicken sandwiches and grilled fish tacos.

Oh yum, I am so jealous. Nothing beats fresh meat like that, nothing! (although fresh eggs come darn close!)

We won't go back, but based on other's reviews, yes they are still that bad. Its not worth getting sick.

We love Mimi's and eat there quite often. We also like Tony Roma's, but not sure about their light fare options as we always have ribs.

We also love Mimi's! :thumbsup2 They have great breads and pastry type items, and if memory serves me well they also have a great selection of soup and salad items and liter menu items as well. You can go to the Mimi's site and read through the menu to see if it is something that intrigues your family.
The prices at Mimi's are no worse than comparable restaurants in the area and the portions are quite nice, too. If you sign up on their website they e-mail you a certificate for a free breakfast (I think!) and will also send you deals for discounts on meals. It is very well worth checking out. And it's around a 5 minute walk from BWPPI. We usually stay there and so my family knows this from experience!

By the way, if you sign up at the Mimi's website, do it just a few days before you go to Disneyland if you plan to use the free breakfast certificate during your trip. It expires between 1 and 2 weeks after they send it! I found this out the hard way when I signed up a month before we left and received a certificate I could never use since we don't have Mimi's in the Tacoma area and our trip was weeks after the expiration date.:sad2:

I just like knowing that no growth hormones, steroids, or unnecessary antibiotics were used. Our poultry falls prey to the many foxes, coyotes and stray dogs that call our area home.
Our Longhorns are grass fed and very lean. When you cook up a pound of our ground beef you get less that a half-teaspoonful of fat-and then we rinse it before use in chili, spaghetti sauce, tacos etc. Commercial beef (especially steaks) tend to taste "gummy" to us now. I guess that we really are spoiled.

I do like to experiment with vegetarian dishes when dining out, and we have found that many grilled entree's featuring chicken are quite good.

Now I'm drooling! We get our meat from a small local farmer on the California coast whenever we can. It has me spoiled to other meat and I also find myself eating more and more vegetarian and chicken dishes out. Other meat just doesn't taste the same.

Mimi's has some very nice salads and chicken dishes also. Could be a nice choice for you all.

Thanks - I will keep this in mind. I thought there was a Mimi's in Waco, but they may have closed (or was it a Marie Calendars?).

Aha! Now to Hijack my own thread!
How did you folks like the BW PPI? I am amazed that it seems to be closer to the front gates than DLH and especially PPH! I showed the DW that it would be about the same distance we walked from our room in the Gator Bayou at POR to the bus stop - except we won't have to catch a bus when we get there (and it is also a shorter walk than where we've stayed in Fort Wilderness in the past).

Also check for discounts for Mimi's. Usually once every couple of weeks, they have a buy one meal & 2 drinks and get another entree free (or 1/2 off).

I saw those reviews too. They kinda made me wonder how they are even still in business! There would only be one positive review for every ten bad ones in Yelp! and TripAdvisor - almost like they were planted by the owners or staff.
Well, I just hope that the free continental breakfast isn't inedible. As long as they have fruit and [strong] coffee, I should be OK.
