How long before the wedding should i book the officiant?

And does anyone have any reccomendations? i want an personal informal ceremony. Im not crazy about writing my own vows either?

TIA :goodvibes

We used Rev. Jack Day, he was wonderful. He is soooo sweet, even though we didn't meet until minutes before the ceremony it totally felt like he'd known us forever. I booked him about a year out, as soon as I had an offical date, and time. He sent me Jack's pack, which had 5 or 6 ceremonies in it that I could select from, change as I saw fit, or completly write my own. I ended up using one of his and adding a section from a different one of his, very very simple, all I had to do was re-type it all in Word, and fax and e-mail it to him. I'm sure had I not tweeked it though I'd of just had to tell him #3 and it would have been done. Everyone at the wedding was very impressed with him, they couldn't believe that it seemed very personal and not just something out of a book, that you'd expect without knowing the Reverand beforehand. I would totally recomend him.

I feel the same way :goodvibes Rev. Jack Day was the best! We booked our wedding 9 months in advance and I booked him about 8 months in advance. I had only e-mailed him and spoken on the phone once but it was like he knew us for years. DH was uncertain of how it would be, but now he still talks about how great Rev. Jack was! We combined several of his ceremonies from Jack's Pack and I did the same thing, just typed it up in Word and e-mailed it to him, and he had it exactly the way we wanted. I also had him add a special prayer for my mom, in his own words. He did an amazing job. The guests couldn't believe we hadn't sat down with him to plan the ceremony, it was that personal. We didn't have a Best Man and Rev. Jack did our toast - perfect! I am so glad we chose him, he made the day that much more special!

as soon as you have your wedding date & time confirmed i would look into booking your officiant.

we originally were working with rev. jack day who was so great but he had to cancel on us for a family wedding so now were working with rev. tim herring.

Thanks guys, i have just emailed Rev Jack Day. Does anyone know if he responds to emails very quickly? i would love to phone him but im working evenings at the moment and with the time difference between the uk its difficult!

I booked him through e-mail innitally. I didn't call him until close to the wedding, to make sure we were on the same page with everything.

We had Jimmy Johnson. He was included in our Intimate pckage.
We had a choice of two Officiants, but opted for Jimmy because he had some really nice words that applied to our requirements to exclude all religious references.

He was a really great guy and took the opportunity before the ceremony to have a really informal chat to both of us (seperatley of course) and just made us feel so relaxed.

I know a lot of people rate Jack Day highly, but Jimmy Johnson is also a great guy, so don't be disappointed if he is your Officiant.
