***Officially Official September 2017 Thread***

I'm getting really nervous about these hurricanes. Our dates are 19-26. Worst case we cancel and rebook. I don't even want to think about having to find all our adrs and fp again.

I think our dates will be okay. Jose is a non threat. We go every September and while it rains frequently, we've been fortunate enough to never be involved with a tropical storm or hurricane. The info someone posted about how Disney prepares and protects during a hurricane was very comforting. Disney was named the safest place to be during a hurricane by some expert readiness organization. So, relax and get back into that excited mode. You're going to Disney!!!!!!

I'm still going, flying out on the 17th.

If we have any bad weather (Irma turning back around, Jose not doing what they expect or something else) when I'm there I'd look to spend a night or two at AKL or somewhere that is inclosed. It seemed those guests got better food and a visit of characters, GF was another but thats waay off budget. Would be better than being stuck in an All-Star room all by myself. I think I would make myself worry more as I havn't been in that kind of weather before.

If they had trouble at MCO still when I'm flying out/Orlando got hit a bit etc then I'd chat with my airline and Disney and switch to a smaller trip to DLR. I want to go back there anyway.

Thats just my worst case senario plans. Otherwise I'll be there in my poncho having a great trip whatever the weather turns out to be. :earsboy::umbrella:

Our dates are the 19-24. I think we will be ok, and I'm an anxiety laden person, anyway :) We've been there before in September with a lot of rain, and the good news is, if you're tolerant of being a bit wet, you have very little ride line because people go back to their resorts :)

Irma should be long gone by the 19th unless it (God forbid) loops around. The only guesswork is whether airlines will be having issues due to lingering damage, etc. I'm not terribly worried about Jose yet.

Here now; up early cause even with Irma looming in the Atlantic today is our first park day!! Idk if I'm overly hopeful or stupid, but this is gonna be a great trip! Even if Irma affects us (and I'm hoping she don't!) the young woman at the front desk assured me we would be safe, we'll fed and have lots of awesome activities; she said she's here for the storm so if we need anything to see her. We're gonna be great!!
You will have a great time :thumbsup2 We have been there through a hurricane and just missed last year. Disney is a safe place to be and do a great job entertaining at the resorts while parks are closed. Post updates of your fun here too. I need to get excited again for our trip in 10 days because all I see now is hurricanes and it's made me lose the excitement a bit.

This! Normally, at 10 days out, I am bursting with excitement. But with a major hurricane looming, I just feel wrong to be excited and instead am worried for everyone.

I wonder if someone there already has seen or heard anything about the looming hurricane?

I am sure that Disney is not out will bullhorns saying run for your lives!!!

Hi September peeps! Can't say I am not jealous of all of you still looking forward to your trips--we just got back yesterday and had a fantastic time! The good, the bad and the ugly:
The bad: The Star Wars dessert party logistics were a little off--it rained the night we were there and there was a delay. I nice CM was trying to communicate this information without a microphone to the group but it was difficult to hear her and people were frustrated. When they eventually walked us out there was NO announcement-we just noticed everyone was leaving. Also, while we were waiting, the refreshments were taken away. The walk out occurred as the fireworks were starting and was confusing--people didn't know where to go and, if I had not read reviews, I would have just stopped somewhere in the middle. There was a woman on the bus afterwards that was furious because her party go separated from the group and there were no CM's to direct them to the preferred viewing spot. This dessert party was a one and done for us.

The ugly: *Sigh* HEA was a complete bust for us. We did not even stay for the entire thing. And, this is coming from a family that loved Wishes. Everyone crowded into the HUB with CM's YELLING at everyone was a nightmare. If you are claustrophic, I would highly recommend getting a FP or doing one of the dessert parties to get preferred viewing. If you cannot see the castle projections, (which I couldn't see at all), I'm not sure it is worth standing in a giant mass of people with a CM yelling in your ear. I really hope they make adjustments to this---I can't imagine what this will be like during the busy holiday time.

Now for the the good of which there was plenty of: Just about everything. AK-Kidani is a wonderful resort. Sitting on the balcony in the morning watching the animals is really a great way to start your day. We love staying over on the boardwalk but it was nice to experience this resort. We ate at Sanaa for the first time and I just cannot say enough good things about this restaurant--definitely one of my favorites now. We did FOP on our 3rd day and were blown away! None of us had any expectations since we have all avoided getting too much information/spoilers. The posted wait at 2:30pm on Sunday was 140 minutes or something like that. We tested our resolve on our last night by heading to AK around 8:30 pm to see Pandora at night (HIGHLY RECOMMEND!) and the posted wait for FOP was 70 minutes. We decided to go for it and surprisingly, we were in the preshow in about 35 minutes--about 1/2 the posted time! F&W: the booths are crowded so be prepared for that but, we made our way around and had some delicious food-my personal favorite was a sweet pancake with chicken sausage, bacon jam and maple syrup (I'm drooling right now thinking about it) We had so much fun visiting the booths and trying different food and beverages. They have little passport books that contain the menus for all of the booths and you can mark which ones you have visited with a sticker. We had a good time with that.

As a group, we had a great vacation with only a few minor hiccups. We spent time at the pool each day and the weather cooperated(for the most part) We had great TS meals-Skipper Canteen, Sanaa, California Grill and lots of tasty treats along the way at F&W, Abracadabar, Hangar Bar, Ganachery, etc. The CM's were great and we encountered zero issues with wait times, Magic Bands, etc. I was able to easily book 4th and 5th FP's--except for the super popular rides like RNC, FOP, etc. Ready to plan my next trip---March 2018, I'm looking at you!!!

Sadly I am saying goodbye to this group. I cancelled my trip, September 9-13, but I am hoping to reschedule for October. Enjoy your September trips everyone!!!

Maybe we are crazy, but we are still keeping an eye on the weather and predictions. Now, we are staying 8 days. So if we have to shave a day or two off of the front, or even add a day, we can. We also don't have to worry about airfare. So it is totally up to us when we leave home to head down.

Our vacation is the 10th through the 17th.

Thanks for posting a report. Sounds like you had a great time overall. Glad you missed Irma and are already planning your next trip!!!

Right now we're still planning to go, but watching the models like crazy. We did move our trip up a day (originally scheduled to land on Saturday at 3:05, now landing at 3:05 on Friday) - but can make a game time decision to cancel if we need to. I'd be tempted to reschedule if that was even a possibility for us, but with work schedules and other obligations it is simply not an option. Right now I'm just hoping the trends continue east and that those who remain in its path from now until it dissipates are safe.

That was supposed to be "springing" not "singing" surprises. No one would want me to sing!!! haha!
I'd like to hear you sing the surprises! :P That also totally sounds like something my family would expect me to do. Probably shouldn't in the middle of the parks though. :P

I'm thinking I won't tell for either. I'll literally just walk up and wait till they understand. That's what I did for BOG on the last trip in 2014: my family knew it's impossible to get BOG and it was a fairly last minute trip, so when I got a 4pm reservation I didn't tell them. My brother wanted to go back to the hotel and rest after the parade (which I had to force him to watch in the first place), and I was literally like "no, you're not doing that." So he grumbled at me all the way to fantasyland. Even when I was checking in, my mom didn't realized I'd gotten us a reservation, until suddenly we were being taken inside. It ended up being their favorite moment of the trip (and that scallop and puff pastry appetizer was one of the best food items we had), and my brother ended up appreciating that I forced him to stay. :P
