***Officially Official September 2017 Thread***

I have decided to cancel my trip because of Irma:(

That suuuuuuuucks! Unfortunately, I think it's probably the smart decision since you were planning on being there when it should be rolling through. Hopefully you can reschedule for another time. I'm sorry to hear that, though.

After many years of September trips, I have to say this is our last. I'm sticking with march/April. This is the second year in a row on hurricane watch, and unless it stalls it shouldn't affect us too much, but now there's a tropical storm behind it too. I was there through Charlie in 2004, so I know what to expect even if there during a direct hit, but still isn't fun. Really feeling the stress for those going this weekend. :sad2:

Where do you find that? I'd like to check it out so I can keep track. Thanks.

I just did a quick check. ABC News is now expecting Irma to enter the Gulf of Mexico and slide up the western coast of Florida. I saw on CNN this morning that if that's what happens then it'll either keep turning and hit around Tampa or go straight up and hit the panhandle. As for the tropical storm behind Irma, which they've named Jose, they're predicting that will take a northerly track and not make landfall at all.

I went through Tropical Storm Debby in 2012 when I lived in Tampa. That was enough for me. God forbid they take a direct hit from a hurricane. My thoughts are with everybody that's going to be visiting Florida and, of course, it's residents. :worship:

There is a cold front moving thru Georgia today so maybe it will play at least a little role in steering Irma out to sea.

I was supposed to leave for WDW on Saturday but just cancelled. The stress was killing me(seriously had a massive headache, my stomach was in knots, and I couldn't stop shaking). I already feel better. I'm now moving the trip to the end of January. So, silver lining I have a new trip to plan. Plus, it looks like my brother and his girlfriend will be able to go with me.

I'm getting really nervous about these hurricanes. Our dates are 19-26. Worst case we cancel and rebook. I don't even want to think about having to find all our adrs and fp again.

I thought there was a thread of tips but it didn't come up on the search. Just have a quick question, What do people tip for house keeping?

I read the recommended amount was $1 per person per night, which is fine but as its only me so I'd only be tipping $1, do you think I should make it $2? I don't have a big budget so I'm trying to find a fair amount to give.

I think Magical Express it was recommended $1 per bag. I had to get the currency exchange person give me a load of $1 bills she looked unimpressed because I wanted it all in small notes and she wanted to give me larger ones.

We will be there 17-21 if Irma hits sun/Monday, we are hoping things will be good by the following week. It may be putting our head in the sand but we shall watch and wait, there is still so much uncertainty with it still.

If you're not getting there until the 17th you should be good-to-go I would think as far as Irma is concerned. I'm going to watch this tropical storm Jose to see what it does. Early indications are it will stay out to sea.

I say....NO WAY JOSE!!! :rotfl:We are there 16-28th and all I have to say is I owe Sugar ray big time. We were booked 4-14th with the party on 10th, and DH made me switch the whole thing so he could see sugar ray. (Seeing David cook too is actually what sold ME). I didn't want to switch dates because I feared I'd never get my ADRs 3 months out, but I did- even BOG. Plus I waitlisted and got my resorts too. I seriously can't cancel- I have DVC points that expire 9/30. So I do not know what I would do.

I know, we arrive 16th and I don't want to breathe a sigh of relief just yet. We lived in FL so I know if that swings out into the golf and then hooks back....it could be lingering.

January is much nicer for weather. Nice and cool, no heat, humidity and rain. Glad you were able to re-book. January isn't that far.

NOAA is showing Jose turning north and being a non-player so that makes me feel better.

We don't leave home till the 22nd so hoping everything is good by then too.

Here now; up early cause even with Irma looming in the Atlantic today is our first park day!! Idk if I'm overly hopeful or stupid, but this is gonna be a great trip! Even if Irma affects us (and I'm hoping she don't!) the young woman at the front desk assured me we would be safe, we'll fed and have lots of awesome activities; she said she's here for the storm so if we need anything to see her. We're gonna be great!!

We fly down on the 21st. I'm also hoping Jose stays away. I'm still a bit worried.

I arrive the 24th. Like ChiefM said, all indications are Jose will be a non-factor.

I have traveled in September to Orlando for the past few years and have always managed to dodge the Hurricanes. I am constantly checking the weather now and keeping an eye on Irma and now Jose! Our dates are 9/16-9/21 so I think we should be ok (I like the "No Way Jose!" mantra). Latest update is that the East Coast of FL is in the path and that Orlando would get less intense parts of the storm. I hope the cold front pushes Irma even farther East into the ocean and everyone stays safe!!

Fairly new to Disboards, but I've been planning my September vacation since like April or May.

13 days from now, my Brother (26) and I are taking my mother to Disney World for 12 nights, followed by two nights at Universal, so we're in Orlando for the whole later half of September, including my 24th Birthday!

We upgraded free dining to include table service, are doing a Halloween party with coordinating (jungle cruise lost safari themed) costumes, and I've planned a Star Wars dessert party as a surprise for my mother and a Wild Africa trek as a surprise for my brother, so it should be quite the trip!

I've been spending the last week shopping with my mother in order to get her enough clothes to go on vacation. So I still need to get a haircut for the first time in probably 2 years, as well as get my nails done, and then we should be all set to go.

Also, good luck to all of you facing the likelihood of Irma! With a bit of luck and a sprinkle of pixie dust, it'll blow out to sea before it impacts your trips.

Sounds like a really fun trip!! I love singing surprises when I can. You picked some excellent ones!! Enjoy!!
