Officially Freaked Out by Photopass

I loved the fact that the pictures magically appeared!!!! It was so easy and I didn't have to worry about stopping by the desk, asking for it to be loaded, etc., etc.

Gee, you're in a public place. People EVERYWHERE have cameras and are clicking away. Your family is probably in tons of photos in many peoples houses already! Have you ever been on a ride? Have you ever walked down Main Street? Have you ever been in a crowd watching a parade? Have you ever been waiting in a line with a group of other people? People are taking pictures ALL THE TIME.

Relax. What are you actually worried about? Do you think someone is going to stalk you based on a Disney photo?:confused3

For me it wasn't that others had photos of me or the kids it's that Disney knew where we were every second. I am sorry it is a little freaky to me.

If you have been to WDW that many times there are probably already thousands of photos of you floating around in other peoples ride photos and such over the last few years.

I think you are just letting yourself get spooked by a new technology that is different than what you had already come to accept...

I don't believe you have any expectation, legal or otherwise, of privacy inside the parks. There are disclaimers everywhere that you can be photographed and that those photgraphs can be used in promotional materials etc.

I agree! I too was freaked out that pictures showed up for rides we did not fast pass or use our bands to get on.

It honestly felt very divergent like to me. Disney knows what you are doing every second. I am sorry but I did not like or what they could do with the info.

Glad I was not alone thinking it was a little like the book 1983.
Not only that, but every second you are on their property except the toilets you are on camera. This is the way it is now days, gonna have to accept it.

Man, that was what we liked the best, the pictures from the rides just appearing without needing to scan. The videos from Mine train were our VERY favorite, as well as all the little surprises we found when we looked at the pictures in the room each night.

I recommend you avoid Enchanted Tales with Belle. They give you a photo pass card with over 100 pictures from the whole group.

If you don't like the long-range rfid, you can simple request a ticket and leave the band at home.

Well you are on camera the entire time, but the ride photos are no different than getting a photo with the photographer. It's just scanning your band at the point of picture taking. There's no sinister secret hidden here, no one is there watching the Smith family get off splash mountain. It's a machine, and a mildly imprecise one at that, hence the getting photos of other people.

The walls to my basement are lined with ride photos. There be a whole bunch of strangers in them pictures. Lil' ones, too!

And if the strangers bought the picture then their walls are lined with my ugly mug and my two too cute daughters!

And I have countless...COUNTLESS, pictures with a whole bunch of strangers in the frame so I'm sure we too have made more than one guest appearance in a random photo album or family video (BTW - I am guilty of inserting said ugly mug in a few on purpose!)

Never given it a second thought. The only difference I see here is the delivery method because no matter what - you and your family have been viewed in somebody else's picture(s) whether you know it (or like it) or not.

the photos don't really bother me, they don't know who I am, or who my kids are... I don't usually pay a lot of attention to things on face book... but there was something last week about things cast members don't want you to know... I think that's what it was called anyway... It said that if you or a big complainer that they add this to your information so if you scan your magic band it pops up that your a complainer... I wouldn't give it much credence except for a lot of the other things they said were things that I was told on behind scene tours... Still a little skeptical but I do wonder what all they can put on your profile....

I honestly don't care if Disney takes my pictures, my family thought that it was kind of cool. They do not have enough people to track every single person in the park. Their computers I'm sure can pick up patterns of people's habits and they can work with that to do things a little better and or make more money. And truthfully if someone really is watching me, they actually have a more boring life than I.

LOL cigar95!

Anyway, I don't see how the photos of others is different than snapping your own pic with people in the background and vice versa. Heck, I have some on my desk at the office where the people in the background behind my DS have almost become familiar to me...but I have no idea who they are and never will. There is no SSN or address info on their shirts for me to read ;)

LOL, like Elaine's medical file in Seinfeld! I agree, I doubt this REALLY happens.

I should clarify that I'm not talking about the ride photos with other people in adjacent cars, but instead posed photos of kids and also of other kids, couples, families on individual rides. These should've been sent to just those people and for some reason they ended up on ours. That in conjunction with the fact that each photo we were in listed the exact time and location really spoiled a lot of the carefree happiness I associate with being on a Disney vacation. I will now feel like I am being tracked every second of the day. Just like I never want to see Mickey with his head off, I would rather not know about their creepy Big Brother monitoring.

Ditto. I could careless about being in photos it is the info you state above that is a little freaky. Guess I am old school
And we are the only two that it bothers.

The error just proves how little monitoring they're doing. If they were actually 'watching' you, big brother style, those errors would never happen.

And I would be far more up in arms over the monitoring going on at the airport to get to disney than this trivial crap.

You are on a website that probably tracks your every move. We own a business and our website tracks who visits and then when they become a client. It's sent to us as 'conversion' numbers. It tracks and links you and we get that info for marketing. Everything is tracked these days-Instagram, Facebook, Snap Chat, websites, etc. It's now how the world works.
