Official Wine & Dine 2014

Hadn't thought of that. Might bring it up with my Dad. But I have a feeling he may balk at that too. Parents can get a bit over cautious when it comes to this kind of stuff.

:) I suppose it all depends on the experiences of the parents, eh?

Here is a site (a Dis sponsor, by the way) that rents out DVC villa reservations. Might be fun for dad to read.

If a truly mini-kitchen would work, there's also the suites at All Star Music. I don't the rates for the dates and I don't know your budget, but they do have a micro and fridge.

Had an interesting conversation with Dad yesterday. Dad thought there was no hotels with kitchens on property. Had to correct him on the matter saying that yes there were hotel rooms with kitchens they were just a lot more expensive then the ones we normally stayed in. Knew they were way out of our price range (we usually stay at Port Orleans French Quarter) and wasn't surprised at all when he said no to that.

Didn't stop him from worrying about me surviving five days without a kitchen. Which led to me having to convince him that yes I can survive without a kitchen 9 months post-op (I had bariatric surgery back in February, am going to have to stay at hotel eventually without a kitchen).

star, have you looked into renting points for a DVC villa? That gets you at least a kitchenette with microwave and small fridge with a studio.

As a coach and a dad I understand the concern... living off of food prepared by others for a week is troubling. I am not sure exactly what will help Dad, but there are also Fort Wilderness Cabins and Art o Animation rooms that are generally cheaper than DVC. If he is thinking full kitchen look at the Cabins at Ft Wilderness and at the Animation for a kitchenette. As an alternate, look at VRBO website for a house rental.

Will look at Ford Wilderness, I explain below why Art of Animation doesn't exactly work even though its within our budget (this time its because of my Mom). It's definitely worth at least a gander.

As far as the food prepared thing. I have all ready eaten out before now, around four times. Hell I'll be eating at Disneyland at least a couple of times before this trip (not exactly the same but hey . And I seem to have quiet the iron stomach post-op have yet to find any food I can't eat, which trust me was a concern and would be a concern at Disney if I couldn't handle certain food (yeah I know how accommodating they are, been through that once with the liquid diet where we talked them into just giving me the broth portion of the french onion soup at Cafe Orleans (really good) but still).

And house rentals but when me and my Mom are two very, very different types of park people (I can go all day, Mom not so much she prefers the hotel and joins me for meals and short park trips). It really doesn't work as well. I mean its okay to stay offsite when were at Disneyland and its a hop skip and a jump to the parks and I don't need to call Mom for transportation. But its not exactly that easy at WDW. I think its also the reason why my Dad's never really looked at offsite hotels despite the fact we are typically Marriott people.

Will poke around the website and show it to Dad. Thanks.

Can see Mom even less likely to go with All-Star. Have yet to see her like a Value resort period. (we haven't stayed at one but have pulled into a couple to just poke around a couple of times, she's never liked them not ever the Art of Animation Resort so what can you do :confused3) Anyways POFQ at least does have a microwave and fridge so we have something at least even if I can't convince parents to try the rentals.

Yeah I have picky as the heck parents.

Wow, that's awesome. Obviously I don't know which surgery you had (nor is it my business), but my friend who had a full on gastric bypass almost couldn't eat anything. She dropped weight FAST, but was hospitalized far more than once in the first year b/c of an inability to eat both the nutrients she needed and drink the water she needed.

I'm so glad for you!

Thanks. I've been a bit lucky on the food and health front. The weight has been a bit slow here and I just hit the six week plateau -sighs-. But then again I didn't have the bypass I had the sleeve. Anyways nothing I can do but be patient hopefully this will end soon.

Happy Friday everyone! My DH and I are running the half marathon (our first)! I've been reading the thread but this is my first time posting. We are getting excited for the race - especially after seeing the medal, which I think is pretty cool.

I have a question and didn't know where to post it so I'll try here first. I made my hotel reservation at POFQ through the runDisney department a few months back. Just yesterday, I added tickets to that package. Does anybody know if the tickets will show up in the My Disney Experience? I had already linked my resort reservation, which showed up fine, but even though I got the confirmation and invoice for the ticket additions, MDE can't see it. I didn't know if this was because they were special sports tickets or if there is just some glitch. Thanks in advance!

If you got the tickets through runDisney as well, I believe you have to manually link the tickets to your MDE account. That's been the gist of the conversations I've seen in the past on it.

I did get the tickets through runDisney. When I tried to link the tickets through my resort reservation number, it already stated the reservation was linked (as I had done it a month or so back). Maybe MDE doesn't like it when you modify an already-linked resort reservation.

Thanks for the suggestion - I'll wait a few days and see if they show up. If not, I'll call MDE and see what can be done.

I bought park tickets last year through runDisney for Wine and Dine. I had the tickets mailed to me, it took about 10 days. Once I had the tickets in hand I had to manually add the tickets to the MDE. Through the app on my phone I took a picture of the back of ticket and it linked the ticket to my account. Easy-peasy. :)

That does sound easy! However, the CM I booked the tickets through said they won't be mailed to my house because I live in Canada - they will be available for pickup when I check-in (I should have mentioned that in my original question). I wanted to link them earlier so I have access to booking FP+ when my 60 days window is here. I am pretty far out from that point but I am a worry-wart so I like to have things all set and arranged far in advance :rotfl:

Oh...... Instead of taking a photo of the tickets you can enter the id# for each ticket. It's 12-20 digits. No sure if you receive the id# with your receipt or confirmation of purchase??

On the confirmation email you received from runDisney there should be a confirmation #. Mine started with THOR. If you enter this number you should be able to link your tickets. This worked for me. Hope it works for you!

I'm trying to plan some ADRs, does anyone know around what time the kid's races finish? My son is signed up for the 100m if that makes a difference.

I had the same issue: booked my room and park tickets together via RunDisney, entered the confirmation number into the MyMagic site but it only worked for the room and not the tickets. I emailed Disney to find out how I'd be able to access the FastPass+ reservations and here's the not-so-helpful response:

"At this time, guests making reservations with our groups department
would receive their tickets upon arrival. We look forward to your
upcoming stay in November and cannot wait to share some Disney magic!"

So I just called the RunDisney number again and asked about dropping the park tickets from my reservation, with the intention of buying them separately through the ESPN Event Tickets site and paying extra for the shipping to Canada. This time, I got a very helpful representative who said that the easiest thing would be to remove the tickets from my package, and instantly add a separate ticket order with its own confirmation number. The physical tickets will be available for pick-up at Will Call (resort or any of the parks) but the new confirmation number (which was 12 digits and incorporates some letters from your name) worked perfectly on the MyMagic website.

And the cost was exactly the same, so yay!

I plan to purchase my park tickets through the ESPN event store. I know I need two for sure, but if someone else joins our two-some can I place another order for an additional ticket at a later time?

Almost at the 6-month mark! Time's gonna fly!!!

I just realized this yesterday, and yes, it will fly!! I feel so unprepared (in the trip planning - the running I"m not worried about). This is the first time we are doing a night race, and F&W. I'm getting bogged down on trying to figure out which ADRs I want to make next week. Part of me wants to just enjoy F&W in its last few days and part of me is afraid of it interfering with the run.

As of right now, I am thinking of staying up late Friday night, sleep in Saturday, having a normal breakfast when we wake up (oatmeal or yogurt), then a big lunch around 2:00 (I'm thinking Via Napoli) and then something light (and well known) around 6.

Thoughts?
