Official Wine & Dine 2014

I have a question about the food and wine festival for those that have done it before. Are the kiosks open only in the evening or for lunch as well? Thanks.
I want to say they open around noon--same as world showcase. :)

The penny medal is for a separate, non-Disney race in Springfield, IL -- the Lincoln Presidential Half Marathon. For years their medal has been a big penny with the event year where the minted year would traditionally be on a penny. This year is the 50th anniversary, though, so they're commemorating it with a special anniversary medal that's like a big $5 bill.

I hope you enjoy your first FL race with Disney!

My daughter just hung her race medals up in her apartment. She has four so far and she wants more! I sent her a picture of the Lincoln medal and told her we should run that race next year. Her name is PENNY.

Perfect! It's very affordable relative to other races I've run or considered, and if it's as flat as I've heard a nice race for time - a plus for anyone looking to move up corrals in runDisney! ;)

We took a cab back to POFQ after the race last year. The cabs were lined up waiting, so we were able to hop right in. It was the best money spent - we were back in 10 minutes for a minimal cost. I'll probably do it again this year! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the info! It sounds like a taxi is the best route for us!

Question! We bought our tickets through the online store from the email confirming our race registration. The receipt says they are only valid until 11/16 but we're staying until 11/20. If we activate our 7 day park hopper before 11/16 will we still be able to use it the last few days or does it really expire on the 16th?
Thanks in advance :)

The tickets are only valid through the date range provided. So the date it is valid through is the date it expires. This prevents people from buying tickets to use for future trips or to give to others for their future trips as it is only meant for the time frame that the race weekend falls in. I believe they are good from 7 days before the event's start to 7 days after the event's end.

So excited! This will be my first RunDisney event and my first half marathon! I can't wait!!!

Will you be doing the parks for the two weeks you are there? If so, you may want to see if these tix are upgradable to either ten day hoppers or APs. Often special tix are not, unfortunately. If that's the case you would need a three day on top of what you have.

I hope new Balance get a better system on place for the Run Disney shoes......lots of people did not get them at the Princess half...DH and I were lucky tho

We're actually going from 11/6 to 11/20. We didn't want to do parks until after the race and two of the nights were doing the MVMCP which is why we don't need the 10 day park hopper. We like to take a few days off of the parks. I'll call the ticket office tomorrow morning and see what they say. I can understand having an expiration date because they don't want people using them throughout the year but it's kind of silly to say that we have reservations at the grand floridian for two weeks and the tickets expire the 16. Regular tickets expire 14 days after the first use so I don't understand why these are different as long as we activate before the 16 (our first day at the parks was going to be the 11th). I should add that this is my first marathon and I have 3 children under the age of 5 so I planned on having Sunday & Monday as rest days after the race and then start the parks with the kids Tuesday when I'm well rested.

These aren't regular tickets, though. It doesn't work like a regular ticket where you start using them one day and then they expire 14 days from that point. These are special event/Sports tickets. So the tickets are only meant for the specific time frame the event falls in, and not past the expiration. Obviously you can call and ask, but be prepared for a "no." They are pretty specific about the Sports tickets.

Did a local Half yesterday and feel a lot more confident after our sick-as-a-dog WDW Half weekend. Whew.

At some point I have to decide on a resort.

From what everyone's saying, it seems that THIS race is easy even if you're not staying at a host resort.

Of course, the Boardwalk would be the absolute best IMO, but since I can only book at 7 months with DVC I'm pretty sure I will NOT be getting that. :p

Just as an FYI, sports tickets are not eligible for an upgrade/added days/apply to an AP. I tried to do that during Princess and was told no by multiple people, multiple times. All I wanted to do was add a day on the end.

Thanks! We weren't planning on doing either, just trying to use the 7 days that we purchased! I'll let you guys know what they say tomorrow when I call. I read the terms & conditions on the website and it says they're only active for a limited period but doesn't give any specifics. If I would have known they expired on the 16th I would have only purchased a 4 day.

I'm in for the Wine & Dine! I haven't ran it since 2011 and am really excited to give it another go!

I just looked and noticed while it does say that it is only valid for a limited time before and after the event, it doesn't list specific dates, unless I am really overlooking something. Having personal experience, I know it is generally a two week window (1 week before the event, 1 week after). But for any first timers, the specific dates should be included before purchase. When you call, I would stress that these dates are not listed. Let them know you have no intention of adding days, just using the days you already purchased. Honestly, I don't really see them making an exception, but check just in case. I think their biggest problem with this is not listing the specific dates they are valid prior to purchase.

I added days to ours. My family of four will be there for the weekend of the race, then on Monday my dh and older ds are going back home. The younger ds and I are staying for the rest of the week. So on my reservation it shows 5 day park hoppers for those two and 9 day park hoppers for me and the younger.

The younger ds and I are also moving resorts. We have the Beach Club for the four of us for the race weekend, then on Monday we are moving over to the Contemporary. We have never stayed at the Contemporary and can't wait to check it out.

In true Disney phone fashion, I called, had the first CM say absolutely they will expire on 11/16, then said just one second let me transfer you to a run Disney ticket CM, transferred and that CM told me they are good for 14 days after we activate. I think I'll try to e-mail run Disney and just ask that in future they publish the time frame for using the tickets. I've adjusted our trip so our last day in the parks will be the 16.
