Official Wine & Dine 2014

Does anyone think they will change the course a bit or do you guys think they will keep the same route as 2013?

There could be a tweak or two in the course. To date, no revisions requiring recertification have been made.

There's the possibility of a tweak like Coach said, but I'm thinking they'll keep it the same since they kept the link for 2013's course active on the site.

. . .I'm assuming that was intentional, but they did fail to proof read the new proof of time segment for Marathon Weekend. . . ;)

How do you spend the day of the race? I can't imagine walking around a park all day being a good idea. Sitting at the pool all day seems like a bad idea? What do you do?
I have found on average I walk about 10 miles before the race starts (pedometer and runkeeper). We try each year to cut back, but so far it hasn't worked. I think the key is to take some downtime in the afternoon. Go back to your room and watch a football game, sit at the pool, etc. It's hard, because we are active and we are on vacation.

That was my guess, too. So W&D has at least 10,000 fewer runners than the January Half.... That makes me super excited!

I have done the marathon once, princess 2x, and this race 4x. Honestly it doesn't feel any less crowded to me even though I know that it is. I think because it's dark. I love that it's at night, but I think because you often have a limited line of sight that it still makes it feel pretty crowded.

The corrals however feel a lot less crowded, and not having to make the trudge to the start is what keeps us coming back. Neither Mike or I are a fan of the early morning starts or the walk to the corrals.

If not doing the 5k, we will go to a park early in the morning for a few hours, grab lunch around noon and then head back to the room for a nap. With this being a night race it makes things a different. I try to keep the timing the same as I do for morning races. I don't get up at 2 in the morning to eat the morning of a race so that is why I eat my last meal around noon. I do have a snack while waiting on the bus or riding over to ESPN.

Last year my husband and I hung out during the day of the race. We were staying at Beach Club so we went to Epcot and strolled around World showcase. Went to Sunshine Seasons and ate lunch. Lots of healthy options there!! Took it very easy. We went back to the room and had a nap. Made sure we were hydrating and relaxing. It worked out great. We had a wonderful race!! So excited for this year!!!:cool1:

Amanda - I did W&D and the January Half last year and thought W&D seemed a LOT less crowded. Granted I haven't run the January half yet since they added more corrals, but W&D felt a lot different to me (in a very good way). :)
Looking for a bib if anyone can't maKe it.

I got my Dumbo Double Dare from Jim Stone, Acclaim Travel. I talked to him on Mon and he said that he has W&D bibs too. Great guy! Good luck!
There are also charity spots in addition to the travel agencies! I hope you find something.

I hope they don't change it! I love the W&D course. :)

I'm going to go with a no. Mainly because the old course map is still up on the website which is almost never done. This may just be an accident on their end and they didn't mean to leave it up. But then again it could be a indicator they sticking with the old race course.

Guess we will know for sure when we get closer to November.

I just wanted to mention that the Festival of the Masters is usually held on the same weekend as the Wine and Dine half marathon. The Festival of Masters is a big art show that is at Downtown Disney every year.
My dh and I will probably walk around Downtown Disney, look at the art, and get lunch. Then go back to the room and relax before the race.

We do parks in the morning. Have a decent lunch. Nap. Then have a light dinner before getting on a bus to the race.

What a surprise... I think I finally gave up on sending them emails about typos...the "sliver" level of cheer squad was the last one, I think...

Disney seriously needs a proofreader other than spellcheck. couple years ago at the Disneyland Halloween party we were told on the official maps that the Star Wars "Strom Troppers" would be having a meet&greet....

Does anyone know if I buy the park tickets through The RunDisney link if I would be able to upgrade them to AP's?

The best spelling "oops" I've seen was spelling inaugural on the Minnie 10k as inaugurual.

Youch.

Oh...not rundisney-related, but at French Market at Disneyland the outside signs and inside menus state* that they have "artesian breads". Hmm. Me thinks you mean "artisan" breads, not breads made from water taken from an artesian well.....

*well, the last time I was there...I'm hoping my in-person comments, city hall stop-in, and email have helped them to figure out which one they actually mean....

-snorts- I've never bothered to eat there so I don't know if they still have that mistake. I'll check for you next time I go to the parks next week. Hopefully they would have fixed that kind of error. But who knows.

No. You will also not be able to link them to MDE or book advance FP+ at 60 days out. They are a fantastic price, but they come with a few caveats.

As for bibs, I just got an email from Get Travel saying they still have DDD bibs, so I'm sure they have W&D too.

And as to the sell-out, keep in mind in addition to it being a five year anniversary, this is also supposedly the only year you can get two separate C2C medals. A lot of people did Tink/Princess and are now doing DDD & W&D to accomplish that goal.

I did wine and dine last year, I bought my tickets through RunDisney ( for 5 adults and 1 child ) I was able to link them to MDE and book FP+. I had trouble with 1 adult ticket and Disney support linked it and booked the FP+ for that one.

How did you link them? I was told by the CM at runDisney that you needed to pick them up at WDW when you got there. Did your reservation come up on MDE after you booked?

I had them shipped to me, they came with the after party tickets and Christmas party tickets. The after party and Christmas tickets could NOT be linked but the 5 day pass was easy to link. The code on the back of the ticket linked fine on MDE. I got them in the mail about 2 weeks after I ordered them. I ordered them online, not sure if that makes a difference?

Great!! Did you book your room with them as well or just the tickets? I'm still debating APs for next year, going through RD or just keeping my MYW package and seeing if a discount comes out. Too many decisions!
