Official Wine & Dine 2014

Don't laugh (okay go ahead), but I've already started working on my costume! What ideas are you guys tossing around this year? :confused3

Costumes are some of the best parts! I love looking at past races for ideas but sadly I have none for myself at the moment. Would love to start reading ideas. My DH and I are both running, maybe I can get him to do a Remy/chef couple costume.

Hmmmm.

I love the Anna costume I saw on the Sparkle skirts site. Not very W&D themed, but I am obsessed with Frozen at the moment!!

I'm only running the 5k, and alone no less, do people still do the costumes for the 5k?

People wore costumes for the Marathon weekend's 5K. One guy ran as Carl from Up, complete with house and balloons.

Does anyone know if there will be early registration for DVC? Registration begins March 4th and DVC site still only listing ToT at the moment. I am just so wound up! To much excitement following the princess run on twitter. Wish I was there.

I hope so! I was impressed they got the TOT info up so early. When I was registering for the Disneyland half, they had the info on the princess and tink runs until the day before registration for Disneyland. So I am not letting the TOT info throw me. I missed out on the DVC discount because I went through the AP link out of sheer frustration and it's what I checked....so I'm definitely making sure to check and check every day!

I was told only AP for W&D but its Run Disney so who knows.

I have an AP (voucher,) but the RunDisney site says registration doesn't open until March 4. How do you do the early registration? Do you have to call?

Also.....we are thinking of just doing the 5K...not sure we're ready for a half yet. I wish they had a 10K!! We can do the 5K and then pay for the post race party, right? Also, the post race party is at Epcot, but can we go to DHS and cheer and watch the half prior to the party as long as we have the appropriate park hopping tickets?

So Sometimes there is a DVC discount for owners? I'm still watching the market and shopping. Is there a good list of ownership perks anywhere that I could see? Hope to purchase DVC in the not too distant future, on the resale market.

Does anyone have any idea how many park tickets you can but through runDisney? I have quite a few family members coming to cheer us on, hoping I can buy tickets for them all!

Sometimes there is a discount, sometimes just the perk of early sign up. The discounts I have seen in past are in the 10$ range, so not a huge savings. Ownership perks come and go and honestly should NEVER be considered when deciding on purchasing DVC. The resale market is a great way to go and allows you to buy at sold old and older properties significantly cheaper than thru Disney.

But since you asked the most consistent perks I've seen are discounted AP's and 10% off some stores and dining locations. These get renegotiated every year. DVC is not in the same division as the parks so really it comes down to how hard the DVC head negotiates with the head of the parks.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to a good resort to choose for the race? We will have a large group so we're debating a two bedroom at Kidani or a grand suite at the Dolphin. I know currently the Dolphin is treated as offsite for FP+ so that's something to consider (although it might change by Nov.) Any pros or cons to either race wise/transportation wise? Will the boardwalk area be blocked off during the half? Thanks!

The still-going 2013 thread lists the resorts that are hosts. I don't think AKL was on the list. Others have said that you an walk back to a boardwalk area resort afterwards so I imagine you could walk back to the swolphin as well.

Thanks! I see that now! I don't know that the Dolphin would work for transportation to the race but you're right about how easy it would be afterwards. Maybe I need to look more into the Boardwalk Villas so we could have the space we need but still have the race transportation. So many variables :)

One more thought..if we stayed at the Dolphin would we be able to walk over and take the race bus from the Boardwalk or Beach Club? I know it might be a hassle that early (for the 5k,) but just weighing out our options and wondered if you're only permitted to ride the bus from the resort you're staying at.

Yes, you could walk over to the boardwalk to catch buses for the races, just give yourself plenty of time as we waited in line longer than we would've liked to waiting for a bus last year. After the party in Epcot you'll have to walk back to your hotel since there's no bus transportation for any of the boardwalk area hotels.

Well with the Avengers half announcement it's very likely I will be bowing out of the race this year. Sucks because it means I will Coast to Coast this year. But I love Avengers and no way am I missing the inaugural running of this race. Still think it's too early to ask for a back to back race weekend. Maybe in a year or two.

Have we figured out if there will be early registration for DVC. I had figured it would open up today but website not updated and not showing on active.com just yet.

I only have AP vouchers. I am sure we will have no issues if we wait but I just get so excited.

And we have the added debate of do we want to do the Avengers race. Sigh. Why do they do this to me? So many races, so little money.

Should there be a link for annual passholders? I don't see anything. Or do I just have to call?

I am thinking that there will be a link through the passholder website, but registration doesn't start until noon.
