Official Wine & Dine 2014

Thanks everyone for the analysis!!! I can't wait for the race. It sounds like so much fun. I thought ToT was more laid back than the Goofy and Princess (and frankly, I had more fun!). I hadn't even thought about the Osbourne lights. That's awesome that we get to go through them!

The monotony of the out and back from MK didn't really bother me too much. I train on the loop I live on, which as luck would have it is exactly a quarter mile. So for the Goofy, I did 105 laps. Twice. No one said it was a good idea...

Thanks again for the "lay of the land" everyone. It helps me so much to visualize what to expect when I'm training on what I call "The Loop of Bad Judgment".

Is anyone here using the Jeff Galloway running method?. I'm thinking of doing it. I ran the WDW 1/2 in 2011 (Just running no walking) then did the TOT in 2012. Both of these I ran with a partner which kept me going but this one I'm doing alone so I think the run/walk method will keep me on track. I have also gained a ton of weight since the TOT which doesn't help. I did my first run the other day with the 2:1 method and did pretty well, 12:28 min miles for 3 miles. Not a bad start for not running in a long time. I am also praying this will get my weight loss started. I need to loose 40-50 lbs. Anyone else running alone and doing the run/walk method??

I was going to say yes, but I then remembered I actually conned a friend into going with me! She's more run run run and I'm more walk/run/walk, so we'll see if we finish together. :)

Unsolicited advice from me on the way... Although you CAN lose when you run, you have to be careful to not eat up all the calories you just burned. It is SO easy to do that. I probably gained the last 30 of my WW starting weight *while* exercising. No matter how much I wish it were so, an hour on the elliptical does NOT equal half a pizza. Sad.

And honestly even a Half marathon doesn't burn enough calories for half a pizza. :(

Losing while training for a long run is a tricky maneuver, because you have to fuel your body with enough GOOD food and enough calories so you're not fainting all over the place while eating just a touch less than necessary so that you lose. Like I said, tricky!

If you are using some method to help you keep track of what you eat, utilize it to the hilt. Whether it's using activity points with Weight Watchers or making sure sparkpeople knows you're working out that hard, etc etc, definitely make sure you're not sacrificing your health and strength during runs for the sake of losing just a bit faster than you would otherwise lose. :)

Oh I know all to well how easy it is to eat those calories. This time I'm using the loose it app and doing additional strength training. I lost 5 lbs last month using the loose it app, fingers crossed I'll be able to continue this trend. Thanks for the advice!!

I use Jeff Galloway. I used that method for the 2012 W&D also and loved it. I did that one alone. I will be doing this one with my DH this time. We will both be doing run/walk.

OH gracious. I thought the Dreadmill was bad!

Oh good, I'm glad you know that. :) I know most of what I know from making mistakes, so I want to help others not follow in my footsteps!

Strength training is amazing!

Good luck to everyone running in Springfield this weekend. I will most likely be a back of the packer this race.

I booked my hotel! My friend and I will be at SSR. I really wanted Boardwalk (and have a waistlist going), but then I'm hardly alone with that wish. :)

I do Galloway. I ran Tinkerbell with a 2:1 ratio. I'm training for another 1/2 with a 2.5:30sec ratio. then, I'm hoping to do the D-land Half at 3:30sec or so, then see where I am for W&D. For me, it's about finding the point where I'll finish the quickest but still enjoy what I'm doing. So, I don't care what my speed is, but I don't want to spend all day training, either ;)

I didn't lose any weight while training for Tink, until the end. Like someone above said, it's so easy to consume more calories than you burn because you feel like you've burned (and deserve!) more. I have been on Weight Watchers for a long time now, but only half-heartedly. It wasn't until the end of training for Tink that I started realizing I needed to keep track of converting my energy out/energy in. Since then, I've lost 11. I'm looking to lose 25 more. Anyway... I digress ;)

For me, Galloway is what makes me truly enjoy running.

I booked thus morning! It was crazy times! All DVC studios seemed to be full on the Fri. I'm assuming because of the race!!

And I forgot to get up early for it. I suddenly woke up and called for my laptop, LOL. Seriously, my son was up and I asked him to bring it in to me. :) So even more was gone.

But actually it's going to work out amazingly. I'm feeling a bit guilty, because I only wanted to borrow a smallish amount of points from 2015, but because no studios were available the whole time, DH talked me into a 1 bedroom. So my friend and I will stay in a very civilized, 40-something, grownup style, with such a large villa to ourselves. Nothin' wrong with that. Except for the whopping 10 points left we now have of our 2015 points.

I should probably just cancel the waitlist because then I would have more points than I need in 2014, but...come on...walking home from the party? Hard to beat that!

Of course, I have a sneaking suspicion that our husbands and my son will become overly jealous of this trip, and sneak away into our luggage. If they do, the 1 bedroom will fit them. So that's good. :rotfl:

So we also switched from AKL to SSR. It was only 6 points more so it's worth it to us just for the bus access being a host resort. We are flying from So Cal and will not be renting a car.

We loved AKL last month but also want to see a new resort since likely we won't be returning for at least five or more years.

We also will be staying one night post cruise and haven't decided where we would like to try. Maybe Beach Club. I did wait list Boardwalk Villas for Nov 5-10 but am not anticipating it will come through though since I'm sure everyone else also has a wait list there.

Oh what fun it is to wake up at 5am CA time on a Saturday to change reservations!

Yes, the 2nd half of our trip I had to book a 1 bd at OKW and it is just two of us. Oh well. I was lucky and had EXACTLY enough points for that part of the trip, so if my studio waitlist comes through I won't be in too much of a points pickle. :) At least we are booked huh!
