Official Wine & Dine 2014

I need an opinion. I ran the last 10k I can to improve my placement for this race last Saturday. I PR'd but only by 3 1/2in over my registration time. My original time is 1:19:56. Now it is 1:16:24. Is it worth submitting a new proof of time?

I would. :)

When booking your room did they tell anyone that you have to book through Run Disney.

They were saying that we wouldn't be able to take the bus, we always book through the normal reservation # and have never has issues with the buses.

Is this something new?

I've never booked through runDisney for a room. I cannot find on the runDisney site anywhere that a host resort must be booked through runDisney reservations. How would they be able to book DVC? I think you got a CM who wasn't quite sure what was going on.

No no no no...that is not right! I've done 4-5 race weekends at Disney (was just there for Princess Half weekend to run the 5K - booked under a CM rate, not runDisney) and only booked through runDisney once, and they let me on the bus every time. :thumbsup2

Thats what I thought. this will be our 3rd race and we have never been told that we have to book through Run Disney so I was just wondering.

It is not new, have called the regular reservation line and when I mistakenly say am coming down for a race they want to transfer me even after giving them all the information and getting to the point of finalizing everything.

I do not mention the races any more when calling.

No worries - this is just as helpful! :thumbsup2 I'm semi-local so drive to EP a lot... and have wound up in the faaaaaar reaches of the back lots and trust V - that is not a place I want to walk to after running a half, lol! The fact that you guys don't remember thinking you might die on the walk is good news. :rotfl:

It's not that I didn't remember from fear of dying, but from a large quantity of Bailey's and margaritas! Lol! :rotfl2:

Ok, maybe just repeating, but I want to be sure (i've never done this before).

We start race at WWoS and end at Epcot. Yes

Leave our car at Epcot pre-race and then take a shuttle to WWoS? Yes
then we finish at Epcot and drive away from there? Yes

Is there information available about this whole thing? Like something from Disney?

No idea but I would think it's probably on the runDisney website. :goodvibes

AOA is connected by a bridge to Pop Century , which is a Host resort. It's a fairly easy walk from pop to aoa. Just hop onto the Pop Century bus after to get back!

I like to close the party. I'm not sure I would wanna take a bus to a neighboring resort, pass through it (quietly as not to wake the folks sleeping), and cross the bridge just to get to my resort. A taxi at the end of the night would work a bit better for me I think.

I'll ask when we check into AOA what the local taxi # is and be prepared in case we decide to do that! I have 3 little ones that will be eager to get moving the next morning so we will probably not enjoy much of the party! Glad to know we have a few options of getting back to our room!

Yes! because we have NO idea what the cutoff will be for each corral. It's always possible that a matter of minutes can mean the difference between one corral or another.

Not new - I've seen this come up before - but 100% incorrect. You only need be at a host resort to use its transportation. Book through whichever outlet is cheapest!

That works for me! :thumbsup2:rotfl:

They just don't know.

Even people working at resorts don't know. I had a front desk CM at AS Music tell me that Saratoga wasn't a host resort for WDW Marathon weekend. ALL resorts, as far as I could tell, were host resorts for that one. And I had caught expo and race buses FROM Saratoga on that very same stay, so he was 100% wrong. And didn't want to believe me. Despite me telling him that the previous two days I had caught races buses from there. :scared:

You definitely do not have to book through runDisney. I certainly didn't when I went in 2012, and took advantage of free dining. They don't have some check on the buses that make sure you're part of the race weekend and are therefore allowed on the bus. You simply wait in the designated transportation area of the host resort and get on the bus.

Out of curiosity, does anyone have any experience with Brooks Ravenna 5? I am a mid to forefoot striker and wondered how they were. I see a lot of fantastic reviews for them, but only found a couple that specifically mentioned being a mid/forefoot striker. I plan on going in to a local store to try them on, but can't get over there until next week some time, so I just thought I'd ask for now.

I just bought the Ravenna 5 based on the rave reviews I read. I've been running on them for a couple of weeks and like them so far. I am a mid foot/heel striker and they are way better than the Asics GT-2000s (first version, I heard 2 was an improvement but it didn't feel like it when I tried them on) had before. I have found them to be a little stiff but they did well for me during several short runs and a 10-mile run last week. I tried several other pairs and these had the best feel right out of the box. Good luck!

Thanks for the input! I was looking at Ravenna 4 since that's marked down at a lot of places, but I read some reviews saying the 5 is more lightweight and you can feel the difference. I am willing to spend the extra money for something that works better for me. I am looking forward to going in and trying them on!

I was actually able to head into Lady Foot Locker today, but they don't have the Ravenna 5 in yet...just the 4 (which are still at full price for them). I told them I am interested in the 5, but want to try the 4 to see what it is like. SUPER comfortable and the cushioning is exactly where I need it. Definitely the best I have tried straight out of the box. They weren't sure when they were getting the 5 in, so I am just going to place an order from them because they carry a color I love that I haven't seen on other sites.

Hi guys! Fellow Princess and ToT racer. I am hoping to join you guys but sadly missed out. So I am currently ISO 2 bibs for me and my hubby. Hopefully we will find them and join ya'll!

Starting to talk with the hubby about what meals we want to go to for this trip! Trying to figure out how the heck to fuel for such a late run. The most night running I've done is 9 miles after work (starting around 6:45 or so). I'll eat my normal breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, and then another snack about 1.5 hours before the run. One of the reasons why I hate doing these longer runs at night, is that I'm just so HUNGRY by the last 2-3 miles or so, no matter what.

I was thinking to try and sleep in as much as I can, have a larger/later breakfast, larger lunch, and then a light dinner before heading to the race? I don't want the food sitting in my stomach...but at the same time, with the race not starting until 10 pm, I'm worried I'll be starving before I even start running!

I hit the wall in 2012.I learned hard way that I under fueled (grumbling stomach to start race) was not good. This past year in 2013 I got it right - we had normal breakfast, lunch and a light dinner around 5:30 pm (hubby and I shared a sandwich with a salad at our hotel). Then when we left for the race, we both took a bagel and banana with us. While waiting in the starting area about an hour before we started, I ate the two. It worked out perfectly for me - used my cliff shot blocks during the race. Worked out perfectly!
