Official Wine and Dine 2017 thread

I should probably run more than 1.5 miles twice a week if I'm doing a 10K in a month.

Does hiking 11KM at the Path of the Gods next Saturday count as training?

Because I am a little OCD, I was reviewing the course map for the 10K (page 19).
The overall map shows us going around Crescent Lake in front of the Boardwalk, taking a hard right at mile 5 and then going anti-clockwise toward International Gateway.
The blown up map of the finish/Epcot zone clearly shows us entering the International Gateway area from the Yacht/Beach Club side of the lake (therefore a left turn at mile 5 and proceeding in a clockwise semi-circle around the lake.
Not that it matters much to me, as I'll plod along and follow the people in front of me, but it would be nice to be able to tell friends where to position themselves. (I think the Yacht/Beach Club route is more spectator friendly).
What was the route for the Star Wars 10?

I'd love to be there but of course I am under 21...

Check both the half and 10K course maps. The 10k goes around in front of Boardwalk and the half around the Beach Club/ Yacht Club side.

Can somebody who ran the SWDS half explain how the sideways corrals work? I missed the proof of time window so I will likely be one of the faster people in the corral. I'm trying to figure out how to be in the front of the corral when there really isn't a front of the corral.

Get there early and try to be at the front of whatever corral you’re in.

They’ll separate the large corrals into several ‘flights’

Where is the front of the corral when it is set up like this?
The front is at the bottom of the picture. You walk into the corral from the top where the restrooms and water are and walk down to the front. Now imagine you are at the front of the corral, you should get to the front-left because as each corral turns left to walk to the start line, those who are on the front-right end up getting behind a lot of others. See what I mean?

Thanks. That makes perfect since. I just wasn't sure because I thought I read somewhere that at Dark Side the race organizers just pulled people from the middle of corrals, but what you described seems like it would make much more sense.

So here is a link to our you tube channel. We have wrap ups of the 10K and half marathon with footage of before, during and after the races. You can see the large corrals and how they are set up along with the courses. We were early and was able to get to the front of the corrals.

So, not sure if our video will answer your question, but here is our wrap up of the Dark Side 10K... and I know we have footage from that area. Maybe this will help

Apparently they used to do that, but have stopped for last couple of race weekends.
good to know but disappointing as I think that it could help prevent bottle neck of people waiting to get on buses from a parking lot (and open up another opportunity for people to park, LOL
I will just get up a little earlier :) hehehehe

so, will my 8 year old daughter need to be present for bib pickup - she is running the 5K with my wife. or can my wife pick up both bibs there?

I have picked up my daughters without me. I just took her photo ID (her passport at the time) and birth certificate just in case.... but they only took my drivers license and I had no issue... BTW this was 2016 princess and 2017 princess 5k just in case you were wondering how long ago

Okay this feels like a stupid question and I think I know the answer to it, but can I start with: I am usually used to doing the Disneyland Half Marathon weekend. Buttttt, the "theme" for the Wine & Dine, is just the Wine & Dine, right? No other additional character themes added to each race?

Last year the 10K had a Remy theme with the medal/race shirt/whatever merch wasn't pulled for printing errors and the challenge was Lumiere themed.... this year the medal design theme is more 'trip around the world' with the 10 and half medals looking like luggage tags and the challenge being a passport

@1lilspark Thank you! That's what I was calling them but my husband was asking if they were themed and I was like uhhhhhh.... Haha. I think he wanted a coordinating shirt to wear during his 10k so I'll opt for something travel themed. Thank you!

no problem... I know last year there were lots of beauty and the beast and ratatouille costumes because of the themes of the medals... a good amount of other things (lots of figment, alice and wonderland, and zootopia if my memory serves me right)

last year for 10K my sister was minnie mouse (black tech tank from kohls, mini mouse costume skirt and ears from party city) and I was Anna (light blue tech shirt from the orlando factory outlet mall, black tech tank, blue active skort and pink tech headband from kohls)

this years 10K sister is Ariel (mermaid leggings from Amazon, still figuring out a shirt....) I'm doing Rapunzel (pinkish purple tech shirt from the tampa factory outlet mall making a purple sparkle skort and headband on my own...pondering carrying a plush pascal as well)

The colors on the medals are very similar to the color scheme for Epcot's 35th anniversary that just occurred and is being celebrated right now. So anything old school Epcot would be a fun costume too.
And anything food related or chef related makes a ton of sense too.

Which reminds me...I may need to get working on finding an approriate ruffly little apron for my Fall Feast getup. I'm glad y'all brought this topic back up and jogged my memory to do that!!
