My DH signed up for his very first race ever in his life! The 5k. I am one proud wifey. He has been talking about it for years. Any advice for me on race day??
I understand that issue. I bring my own tea, because I am kind of picky about brands. I drink tea every morning, even on vacation, even if it's 100+ degrees outside. I usually try to bring something pretty strong and flavorful, like maybe a chai, to help knock out the coffee flavor. I have a bigger electric kettle that I have though about bringing.

Congrats to him for signing up! Maybe prepare him for all the things pre-race like the early wake, crowds in the corrals, potential crowds on the course, etc. I guess if he's familiar with Disney races it might not be a big deal but could overwhelming if you aren't aware of it. Oh just tell him to enjoy it!![]()
How early is early?![]()
W&D the program said be on the bus between 330-4 we woke around 215 and got to the stop at ASMo at 315 and had been one of the last people on the first bus race started at 530How early is early?![]()
@GoonieBride Awesome! Tell him to enjoy it instead of being worried about it. I could have enjoyed my first disney 5k more if I was less worried about everything going right...BUT it was still my favorite race to date...loved it even more than any PR attempt or longer race. So it'll be great!
RE: TEA! I bought a box of Alice in Wonderland themed tea in the Contemporary hotel's market and I had seen them in other hotel marketplaces. They had all kinds of giftsets and then just the regular boxes of the tea. I bought some to come home with me and really like it.

We participated in the Marathon Weekend 5K and caught the bus at 4:00 AM. 5K participants were told to be on a bus no later than 4:30. The race started at 6:00.
But it was well worth it!
Oh Gosh, Please tell me there is some strong coffee somewhere or he might just find me sleeping at the finish line. LOLW&D the program said be on the bus between 330-4 we woke around 215 and got to the stop at ASMo at 315 and had been one of the last people on the first bus race started at 530

Did anyone like the post race party last year? I didn't go. I guess I just didn't see the point for some extra ride time on Soarin, FEA and Test Track.
Yes please i would also like more feedback on the party - with no food included I would only do it for character meets...I saw some pictures and some were cool, but how is the consistency on those? I don't want to pay 80$ for Mickey and Minnie...
Getting tea bags is easy enough normally. Those even pack easily if necessary. However, my problem is where to get hot water. I can't do the coffee makers as I can taste the coffee in it and that is not bueno, especially the morning of a race! LOL! Darn me and my need for a proper cup of tea! I might have to spring for a collapsible electric kettle. (Yes, they do exist...thank you Amazon for that revelation.)
Does your room have a microwave, or does the food court at your hotel? I know this may be sacrilege, but I have been known to microwave a mug of water when I don't feel like getting out my kettle.
Please don't pelt me with tomatos for suggesting it, I am a yankee and don't know any better![]()

Would running a couple of water only cycles the night before help?

No pelting here, although I'm kind of wishing there was a smiley face for that!

OK. I need a little convincing. My friend and I have been talking about planning a Disney trip for Oct. 29-Nov. 4 for a couple months now and are finally going to book next week. While browsing through the RunDisney site (Im doing the Princess 5k & 10k in a couple weeks!!!!), I noticed this race weekend will be starting while we are there! Now I've done a bunch of 5ks but this will be my first 10k. I'm thinking if I keep training after this race, I'll be ready to do my first ever half marathon in November! And since I'll be down there already, whats another day or two right? lol Someone give me a little encouragement that I can do this! haha Also, should I sign up within the next couple weeks? Anyone know when the half for this weekend usually sells out? Thanks for any help/encouragement in advance! haha
