I haven't tried massaging it, but was thinking I may do some stretching tonight to see if I can loosen it up. Thank you for the happy thoughts!
Recently I was having issues with my knee as well- An athletic trainer I work with suggested stretching more in the Hamstring and rolling out the IT areas as sometimes things pull in the direction they're not supposed to due to their tightness (aka tight IT= knee pulling incorrectly)..
I was going to be running the challenge with a charity group, but despite efforts for the past 2 months, I have raised absolutely nothing (aside from my $50 registration fee). I can't afford to be on the hook for much if I don't raise it all and this is the last week I can back out of my commitment for the fundraising requirement. 
But if you still want to run, check with travel providers too. They require a hotel stay and park ticket with an entry, but if you need those things, it's worth looking into.
