Official Wine and Dine 2016 thread

Another rundisney newbie. This will be my first race and I'm beyond excited. We will be touring the world the week prior to the race. Any tips? I will be in taper and I know to go to bed early Friday and Saturday. Making all our plans to see the fireworks for earlier in the week. Also, how fast do the after party tickets sell out?

12k tomorrow morning! Hoping to finish under 1:30. It will be between this and my 10k from December (1:14:10) for my proof for the half. Tomorrow will be warmer and no rain, it rained for 1/3 of the 10k and it's flat. The 10k had some bridges :)

I'm just ready to be done running 3 days a week while trying to cross train 2 other days. I plan on running 4-6 miles each saturday and strength/cross train 2-3 other days. I get too burnt out and give up on the cross training but need to get back to it, especially the weights and that type of stuff because of my back and hips. Plus I figure if I can keep up 4-6 miles a week I don't need to start increasing mileage for the half until sometime in August.

Good luck tomorrow! Wishing you a great, fast race! :)

the wife and I used the training programs on the rundisney site to get ready for dopey in January this past race weekend , I am not a runner in the sense that i like to run insane amount of miles a week , plus we are shift workers and lots of the plans out there require long run every weekend , I found the training plans to be a great balance with training and life in general. I just looked today and they don't have the new plans out but you can use the ones there for reference . give them a look

I don't think the after party will sell out since they moved it to Sunday night and I know lots of people need to catch a plane or drive back to be at work on Monday.

Is the 1/2 still starting at WWOS and ending at Epcot? I couldn't find that info. And has a start/finish been announced for the 10K?
they will probally do it about a month out from the race kind of like they did for some of the recent race weekends

I've used those plans for my non disney races since I started doing races because I like how it's one long run each with with two timed runs and two cross train days. For me it's still too much. I don't like cross training, it's boring, the people at my gym hog equipment taking 20 minutes to do 2 reps etc. I would rather be on the treadmill at the gym, however for health rather than training I need to change it up. I'll have to figure out how to tweak it once I need to start adding miles, but getting stronger will also help my running and I don't need to get faster than my 12ish min mile.

After reading about the Dark Side races, I hope they stick with having us start in WWoS and end in Epcot. Sounded a bit messy ending in WWoS!

Agreed! Seems like lots of bus horror stories this year :scared: (to and from the race which is a little alarming because it seemed like the 'lost Mears driver' thing has somewhat disappeared)

Several were still confused ... Especially on the early busses. They were using their radios however .... I'd never seen that before.

Missed my goal but I also set it for a flat course, not a hilly course. I'm ok with the 1:33:57 though I would have preferred under 1:30. But now I know I want to use my 10k time for proof.

Which part of the site do I link to, all the results where you can search or do I click on my name to get my individual result and use that link? I don't want to use the wrong one and might as well do it now because I'm not doing anything longer thank a 5 or 8k before the half.

I think I searched or my results and linked to my name fo rmy past couple Dinsey races.

And I thought it was a little odd it directed me to active to update my proof of time. Not the same website as in the past. I won't be ready to update mine till next month, but was just looking for the link.

I haven't done it yet, but I thought I would have to go to active where I am registered for the race to do it. I've never had to do POT for anything before. I need to go on to active to find out about canceling my 99 cent trial too :)

Yep, that's the new method. In a way it's good because it's password-protected. :)

Entered my POT, though since I put my finish time as 2:50 will they even use it?

I did screen shot the info entered and the page that said I had updated my info just in case.

Also emailed to cancel my active advantage. Next thing is to impatiently wait for park hours so we can figure out the rest of our adr's ie AK ROL day.

Hello I have another question (well a couple). Just like me I get an answer to one question and I'm fine for a couple of days then start wondering about something else. (So apologies now for being annoying :P)

1st question normally how many runners will there be, well for the half marathon anyway?

2nd question if you're in the last corral, how long would it be before you cross the start line, 10/20mins?

1st question - WDW Half/Princess have around 25,000 runners. Dark Side had around 20,000. As this is the first year of the new course & the challenge changes - I would imagine this race will be anywhere from the 14,000 it originally has been around up to around the 22,000 runners that could have potentially ran Dark Side (based on Bib Numbers)

2nd question - about an hour - first corrals leave at 3 minute intervals, then it moves to 5 as the corrals get larger

Thanks @Dis_Yoda yeah I suppose with so many taking part that would be a realistic time.

Will have to apologies to everyone now as when I get nervous I get very chatty and seeing this is my first half marathon and I running solo the poor people in the corral around me are liable to have they ears talked off.

Although this might improve their times as they'll want to get away from me as quick as possible. :car:

Has anyone that is running for a charity gotten their link to register yet? I haven't gotten mine but I did email the charity. I'm hoping to hear from them soon. I know they were at the Dark Side Half Marathon this past weekend and I'm sure they were busy with that.

Just wondering if anyone got theirs yet? This is my first time running for a charity and I'm not sure what to expect.
