Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

horned king: questions for you. Have you heard at all if the older guitar hero games are going to be released on the wii?? I am really curiosu cuz we are debating group buying the ps2 and all past games so we can play those but if plans are for the wii i guess we can wait...lol.

I know you mentioned rumors of a GH4 and Aerosmith and at least that would hold ove rfor a bit...lol

No word/rumor that GH1, 2, or 80'2 will make it to the wii..heck the 360 still doesn't have 1 or 80's. Your best bet is to buy a used ps2 and all of them for that cuz you might be waiting a long time or never for it to show up on a current gen system.

Oh and I have a review on HSM Sing It

I'm 13 and I am in love with High School Musical so much my parents have to come in my room and tell me to be queit cause I sing it to much. So I got this game when it came out over here in Scotland which I can't remember when lol and I love it, the only down sides to it is that it took me a while to find out how to get on the the 2nd part which is the girls part, and the fact that I only song that has the original voices is Everyday, now I thought that was werid but lol Since I bought it I have completed this game and bored my friends with it I would give it a 8 and a half because of the fact it dosn't tell you how to change it to the second part and the voices!

Oh and if anyone dosn't know how to get it to the second part then when the mic sencitivy thingy comes up on the screen above it there is the choice of character and the part click on it and you can move in to Part 1 Part 2 or Mix. Part one for guys or girls with a lower voice, Part 2 for girls (I dont really think I guy can sing this part but I could be wrong) and a mix if you can sing both parts lol obv!

Sarah xxxx

Thanks for the review and the part switching head up! I do want to play this game but I don't want to spend so much on it....I'll be gettign it once it drops in price a little bit.

Question for those of you playing Super Mario Galaxy, how long did it take you to complete the rolling green galaxy? I've skipped it for now after falling off the edge about a million times. Anybody have any tips on getting through here?

could you describe the galaxy for me???(it's been a couple weeks since i beat the game) None of them took me very long, but I'm an old mario pro. My wife isn't as good...perhaps once the galaxy is refreshed in my mind, either her or I will be able to help.

Are there any good bball games for the Wii???? My 11 year old LOVES basketball and is dying for a GOOD one???

in short....NO. The NBA live game was a big downer for me...just didn't play as nice as it should have. and Unfortunately you will have to wait until next season for a new version of that and one form the 2K series....your best bet may be to buy lastyears Gamecube version of NBA live and play it on the wii for now. or Rent NBA live for the wii and see if he like's it. Like I said I was dissapointed but I expect alot from my sports games....much more then most kids will that's for sure.

It's the one where Mario is on the ball and you have to manuever him around like you are on a putting green. Hope that helps.

Yeah that helps alot!
it's a hard level, just take things pretty slowly..hold the controller upright like a joystick form the old days and don't forget you can jump. Even I fell a few times on this level but you really just have to practice. And this is an easy one...you asked to do it later at a much harder degree(be on the ball that is)

ROCKBAND to WII!!Rumor with truth???

Wii Will Rock You?
Official peripheral hints at Nintendo outing for Rock Band.
by Martin Robinson, IGN UK
UK, January 29, 2008 - A new Rock Band peripheral has recently been seen in the wild, offering a higher quality microphone for Harmonix's riff-'em-up. Interestingly, the official peripheral boasts that it's compatible with the Nintendo Wii, fanning rumours of an imminent release of the game on the console.

Spotted by tech bloggers Engadget, the microphone was seen adorning the shelves of a BestBuy store in America. At $50, the prospect of a new microphone for Rock Band may not normally have been the most ground-breaking discovery, seeing as the game's publisher Electronic Arts has already let it be known that extra peripherals would be available in the near future. The loud-mouthed box-art has certainly raised a few eyebrows, however, as rumours of a version of Rock Band on the Wii have been steadily circulating for some time now. Indeed, speaking last April Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos stated that, "We will, at some time, bring Rock Band to every [important] platform," before going on to say that, "I think the Wiimote is something that holds enormous promise."

No one at Electronic Arts UK offices was available for comment at the time of writing.

Wii fit balance board to inspire more games???
Nintendo Considering Wii Balance Board Games
What ever could they use it for?
by IGN Staff
January 30, 2008 - Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto is interviewed in the latest issue of Famitsu. While the interview, which was done to commemorate the magazine reaching issue number 1000, is mostly reflection, Miyamoto did give a few hints on future plans.

First, the Balance Wii Board, the peripheral that's included with Wii Fit. The magazine noted that Wii Fit has been quite the success story for Nintendo so far. To this, Miyamoto responded that if the game sees success overseas as well, Nintendo may end up releasing separate titles that make use of the peripheral.

The first title to use the Balance Board as an option actually hits Japan tomorrow in the form of Bandai Namco's Family Ski. Could a certain similarly themed Nintendo franchise be next?

The magazine also asked Miyamoto the inevitable question about sequels, and he gave the expected answer. In case you have to hear to to believe it, Miyamoto is indeed interested in making a Super Mario Galaxy sequel. He's also thinking about the next Zelda title.

Miyamoto also gave some vague hints as to Nintendo's plans for the DS this year. Nintendo plans to make it so that you'll be able to use your DS to do a number of interesting things in public spaces. He wouldn't get into specifics. Earlier in the interview, he shared a vision of Nintendo supporting DS owners by setting up servers to create a play environment that's shared between the home and outdoors.

Elsewhere in the interview, Miyamoto gave a special shout out to the games and creators that have caught his eye. Recently, he was impressed with Level 5's Professor Layton series and its producer, Akihiro Hino. Looking forward, he hopes players will take to the new style of play offered by Konami's Winning Eleven Play Maker 2008.

For all the Zombies that love taking photo's!

Fatal Frame Wii Revealed
Nintendo working with No More Heroes director.
by Anoop Gantayat

January 30, 2008 - Following Monster Hunter, the next series to make the big platform switch for the new generation is Tecmo's spooky Fatal Frame series. Tecmo held a press conference in Tokyo today to announce its upcoming lineup, and the biggest news was first details on the Wii version of Fatal Frame.

Titled in Japan "Rei: Tsukihami no Kamen," the new Fatal Frame game is a major collaborative effort for Tecmo. Nintendo will publish the game and is also lending its support on the development end. Key staff members include Keisuke Kikuchi as producer and Makoto Shibata as director, both veterans of the series. But joining Shibata in the director's cubicle is Grasshopper Manufacturer's Goichi Suda (aka Suda 51), who recently completed work on No More Heroes.

Although a two minute CG trailer was shown at the press conference, Tecmo kept the specifics to itself. Kikuchi did reveal that the key words for the game are "memory" and "moon," and "mask," and that the image color for the game is yellow. He also stated that he believes the Wiimote and the horror genre to be a perfect fit.

Nintendo exec Shinji Hatano was in attendance at the event and said "Nintendo will be handling sales, and we intend to actively promote [the game]." Hatano also confirmed a planned Japanese release for some time this Summer.

There's a harder level? Crap!!

I haven't had any troubles at all with this game up to this point, I guess I'll give it another try some time soon. Other than that though I absolutely love the game. I haven't played too much, I'm only up to 17 stars but I love it!

I also wanted to add that I complained a couple of days ago about Tony Hawks Downhill Jam, well now that I have the hang of the controllers I love it, I might be more addicted to it than I am to Super Mario Galaxy!

I hated it at first b/c I was playing two player and I didn't know about the tutorial so I couldn't really figure the controls out, once I got into the individual mode and took the tutorial things became much easier to figure out.

I just wanted to say thank you thank you thank you! I had been working on the rolling green galaxy and kept falling off, but I was holding the wiimote like it shows on screen, but when you mentioned holding it like a joystick I tried that and got it on the second try!

So thank you THK!!!!!

Yay! Congrats!

The big thing with MG is that if you get stuck on a level, move on for a while and then come back to it later.

Sorry I've been MIA around here. DH gave the flu and it turned into Bronchitis and a sinus infection. I finally starting to feel better.

Your extremely welcome! I've found that sometimes you have to hold the wiimote "your own way" not how they show you...I always play for the "feel of the movement" rather then by the way I'm told to do it. Just me personally, but It seems to work better for me.

thats awesome!!!! I cant wait for it to be annouced officially with a realease date i plan to preorder this as soon as they allow.....that is great , now if they wioll only bring the other guitar hero titles to teh wii that would be great.

BTW I plan to get Karaoke revolution on Tuesday, so I'll let you all know how it is.

I'm getting the Xbox version (you can download more songs) but it's still basically the same game.

I've been working on Mario Galaxy, and I'm at about 74 stars. I'm not very good at the comet ones.

Yes but no. Once you get to 60 you do rescue Princess Peach, but you have to play the game again. That's where I am right now. There are 121 stars in all.

I don't have the game so I can't really help other then to suggest you look at gamefaqs.com and see if their guide gives you any tips.

I've been getting every single star in MG and am putting off saving Peach for whatever reason until I get all of them. I generally don't do this with games but I must do it this time! I hate Deep Dark galaxy or whatever in the Garden Room :( I'm bad at swimming levels.

I could be wrong, but don't you need to win it twice? I'm no gamer, just thought that was necessary. I'm horrible at swimming also. Also horrible at the ones with the disappearing floors.
