Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

Okay I checked ebay and there are a ton of them, but they are going for around $30-$40. Maybe if you wait until after christmas, you might get it cheaper. And try your used game store!

Thank you Harleyquinn - you are too good to me - I appreciate all the advice.

I purchased Hannah Montana for my DD10 for Christmas, but am now wondering if I should have purchased HSM 2 instead. :confused3 I was afraid that HSM would be mostly just a karaoke thing, and we already have a karaoke machine. Maybe I was wrong. Can anyone tell me how these 2 compare? (Sorry if this has already been posted, but I really don't have time to go back and read a bunch of pages right now). Thanks!

Ok, so I also made an impulse buy and bought one for my deployed DH. I got the Wii Sports for $240 (no tax, using a coupon.) Everyone else was grabbing them so I did too, LOL.

Can he connect to the internet with this? At this point he's not sure if he wants me to mail it to him (could get stolen in the mail or stolen from his deployment site) or wait until after he gets home this summer.

Also must say Keep it home...not only for the mentioned reasons, but the plugs are often times incompatable with plugs around the world and the games are regionally locked out(meaning only us games can play on the us machine!--games from where he is stationed would not work!)

Have not played Hannah, but HSM2 is pretty much Karaoke as you said.

NEVERMIND -- FOUND IT!! I've finally gotten our Wii out of the closet (been in there since July) and now I need to submit our request for the free rubber sleeves that Nintendo was sending out before I wrap it up. I cannot find the link nor can I find it on the Nintendo site. Thanks for all your help -- there is such great info on this thread. :cool2:

That's strange I just spent a few minutes looking and can't find it on there anymore either. Perhaps they are out of them right now and took the link down until they are back in stock.

Honestly they are a complete waste, but if you really want them I say give Nintendo's 1-800 number a call and you should be able to get thenm ordered free through there. Just have your system serial number handy(found on the back of the system)

No worries.

HSM is just karaoke. There's a great HSM karaoke CD if you already have the machine.

Hannah Montana is a dance game. No one should buy a dance game that doesn't use a dance pad IMO. It's just stupid to wave your arms around without having to move your feet.

I think the Hannah Montana game would get super old super quick for a 10 yo. I know that she's the perfect age for the REAL Hannah, but at 10, she should be playing more substantial games like Mario Galaxy or Super Paper Mario.

BUT I'm sure she'll probably like it for at least a little while. Just not enough for me to spend $50!:headache:

I honestly think the HSM game is more worth the cost, and is different than just a karaoke machine.

Here's an idea...rent it! Give her a chance to play it over Christmas break or something. Then, if she still wants it, but it for her. Better yet, rent both games for her! :teeth:

I hope this helps somewhat. It's hard to resist buying those games, but they just aren't worth it.

Wow, you are a dork.

Don't go trying for post number 1500 now.

Between the 2, I would pick Mario and Sonic Olympics. I havent played it yet, but I do have Mario Party. And with Mario Party its only fun when you do play with a bunch of people plus it can get boring after awhile. But if your girls like Zelda - get them Zelda Twilight Princess - the BEST game made to date for the Wii. Other great games is Harry Potter, Deweys Adventure, Zack & Wikki, Rayman 1 & 2, Super Paper Mario and WarioWare.

Dude! I just realized you have a cat named Zelda---we have one named Link!!!

We are soooo coool!! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the input! I should have mentioned that DD10 is not quite as mature as other girls her age (ADHD, Asperger's, etc), so she may last with the game a bit longer. Also, I do have a DD6, too, so she'll enjoy the game, too. I did also get DD10 Super Mario Galaxy, and when I did, we got to buy Hannah for 1/2 price! Sounds like it'll be ok for $25, rather than $50. Maybe we'll rent the HSM 2 to try it out. It sounds like they may get bored with it after awhile :confused3

Honestly, they'll probably get bored with most games (not just Hannah) quicker than you want/expect them to. It's just what kids do!

For that price and with a younger DD, I would definitely keep Hannah and just get them the HSM2 karaoke CD. They'll have fun with it! :thumbsup2

And you did your duty to me by getting Galaxy, so I'm cool with whatever you do! :thumbsup2 DD6 will probably also like Galaxy BTW!
:santa:

Has anyone tried the Wrestling Raw Vs. Smackdown, I think that is the name, DFiance wants this and looking for opinions on it.

Also for those who have Rayman 2, is Tropics the only unlockable level? We finished the game in one night if so...=o(

That's definitely a DH question. i'm pretty sure the wrestling game got horrible reviews and so we haven't bought it yet, but I'm sure DH knows more about that one than me.

Wow! One night?! I'm still finishing Rayman 1, so I haven't cracked open 2. Let me see if I can find out for you...

BTW, We hit over 50,000 views almost 1500 posts and page 100! Go us!!

Here you go:

Trips consist of six mini games that are specific to a different continent. There are also hidden games under each trip for you to unlock and costumes for your Rabbids and Rayman. There's also a "Tropics" trip that you can unlock after playing all the other games.

After playing games in "trips", you'll find them available under Free Play mode.

So yes, Tropics is the only special unlockable trip.

Reggie Fils-Aime Down on Bundles
Nintendo of America president speaks out against greedy retailers.
by Martin Robinson, IGN UK
UK, December 18, 2007 - With the abundance of Wii bundles in stores pushing the cost of owning this year's most-wanted console towards the stratosphere, Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America president, has revealed his dim views of retailers looking to squeeze extra cash out of Wii-hungry shoppers this Christmas.

Nintendo's new console has been a victim of its own success with units thin on the ground in the run-up to Christmas, and some shops are only offering the Wii in prohibitively expensive bundles. Speaking to Reuters, Fils-Aime said "Retailers have already been given feedback that we are not big fans of that. We think it masks some of the price advantage we have versus our competition and, frankly, the consumer should decide what they want."

When pressed as to whether Nintendo was to take any direct action on the issue, Fils-Aime stated "We don't have to remind retailers of the strength we have right now. We are simply making an observation and that reinforces our point quite nicely with retailers."

I HATE bundles!!!

Okay, I'm sorry but I really want post number 1500. Can't let DH have it! :teeth:
