Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

Am I clueless or is Rayman Rabbits 1 for only one player until you unlock the mini games? We bought Rayman 2 and LOVE it so we got 1 today as well but can't figure how to play together.

First of all, thank you Terry and Cruisn for handling those other questions so well.

The Nintendo rep waqs completely right in what he said, but I doubt that his word is final. I would try calling back.

Angel--yes, someone has to unlock the games in single player before they can be played as 4 player mini games. You don't have to play the whole thing through, as soon as you beat a mini game, it will be unlocked. The new game is very different than the old.

I am such an idiot - I stepped on our Sports CD - the one that came with the Wii - does anyone know if you can buy it anywhere? Or am I just out of luck?

The guy I got from customer service was no help.

I wanted to give you more info.

This is not normal ware and tear so Nintendo doesn't have to do anything for you.

And what the rep said was true, you can't buy it NEW anywhere, but you may be able to find it on ebay or at a used game store. That's what I would try.

Also how old is the game/system? The games only have a 60 day warranty, so that might come into play as well.

You should be able to find a new one, but Nintendo would definitely being going WAY above and beyond to help you in anyway. Not that I think it's s=too much to ask that they could have copies available for purchase just in case something like this happens. And I think the rep could've been more polite and explain things better.

Sorry! :sad2: You can come over and play with ours! :teeth:

Okay I checked ebay and there are a ton of them, but they are going for around $30-$40. Maybe if you wait until after christmas, you might get it cheaper. And try your used game store!

Circuit City has Red Steel for the Wii for $7.99. Here's a link When I tried to buy it was unavailable for shipping or store pickup so I called my local store. They had tons in stock and are price matching their website for me so I'll get it for $8!

IGN gives it a 6, avg reader gives it a 7.5. I figure for $8 it's worth a shot!

Wow! Great find! It's not a fantastic game, but it's very cool. And there has been a lot of talk about a sequel that will fix the problems that the first one had, so you'll know the story when that comes out.

I would go get one too, but we have a huge snowstorm right now and I'm not going anywhere!

(DH is at the Browns game! :scared1: )

For those of you who like the guides for games, Amazon has a bunch of them at much lower prices than any store I have found. I bought my DS the Super Mario Galaxy collector's edition guide from them for $19 (was $30 at TRU) and the Thrillville Off the Rails for $11.

turns out no price matching necessary. I walked into circuit city and there it is in their ad for $7.99. They're all marked $29.99 but ring up $7.99. DH said he might play it and DS might check it out so for $8 it's a good little filler for under the tree next week.

At least they won the game, but what a mess it is out there today!!

Ok, so I also made an impulse buy and bought one for my deployed DH. I got the Wii Sports for $240 (no tax, using a coupon.) Everyone else was grabbing them so I did too, LOL.

Can he connect to the internet with this? At this point he's not sure if he wants me to mail it to him (could get stolen in the mail or stolen from his deployment site) or wait until after he gets home this summer.

Which game do I get? My MIL sent $50 to get something for the girls. So, I believe I'll get them a game. Which do you suggest? They are getting Wii Play, sports, Playground, and Mario Galaxy. I was thinking either

Mario and Sonic Olympics
or
Mario Party

DO NOT mail it to him. Just leave it at home. Chances you sending a wii through the mail and him actually having it in his grasps for more then 1 day - SLIM TO NONE. The wii is still VERY hard to find. Just because hes surrounded by military, doesnt mean the wii cant be stolen. Yes he can connect to the internet. They have an internet channel. But you MUST have a wirelss internet connection, cable or DSL connection. If you do have a cable or DSL connection then you have to get the LAN Adapter. If you have a wireless connection, then you do not have to get the LAN Adapter. You just have to setup the internet connection and your good to go.

Between the 2, I would pick Mario and Sonic Olympics. I havent played it yet, but I do have Mario Party. And with Mario Party its only fun when you do play with a bunch of people plus it can get boring after awhile. But if your girls like Zelda - get them Zelda Twilight Princess - the BEST game made to date for the Wii. Other great games is Harry Potter, Deweys Adventure, Zack & Wikki, Rayman 1 & 2, Super Paper Mario and WarioWare.

OMG, do not waste your money on this game. Not even the $8!! My DH got this game last christmas and he HATED it with a passion. The AI (Artificial Intelligence) is WAY down. DH was playing it one night and he was shooting at this guy, and that same guy came after him and instead of shooting my DH character back, he walked right past the character. The game also acted a little sluggish. We thought maybe we got a bad copy, but a friend of ours had it to, and his was sluggish as well. I know theres more stuff that he hated about the game, but cant think of them all at this time. Just do yourself a favor and whoever you are buying it for a favor and dont waste your money on this game. Instead put it towards an actual good game, like Zelda Twilight Princess for an example. Or even a wii points card, so whoever can download a old nintendo game.

Is Zelda appropriate for two girls ages 6 and 10? I LOVED Zelda growing up, but not sure it's for them.

Someone tell me about Zelda, I keep hearing about it but never played it as a kid. Looking for Wii games as we just got ours last week. We LOVE Rayman Rabbids 1&2.

NEVERMIND -- FOUND IT!! I've finally gotten our Wii out of the closet (been in there since July) and now I need to submit our request for the free rubber sleeves that Nintendo was sending out before I wrap it up. I cannot find the link nor can I find it on the Nintendo site. Thanks for all your help -- there is such great info on this thread. :cool2:

Whats everyones opinions on Super Paper Mario for Wii? I got it for $40 the other day but after reading reviews I am not so sure. It would be for DD who is 7. If there is alot of reading she gets bored with it all, she would rather play, play ,play!

lol This is the perfect example of why you can't take one person's review as gospel. (meaning mine). I personally don't like the game and agree with everything you said, BUT I think it's totally worth $8. The thing that bugs me is when people spend $20-$30 on horrible games or $60 on Boogie when there is WAY better stuff out there.

Zelda for the Wii? The crossbow traing or the full game? The full Game (Twilight Princess) would definitely be too hard for the 6 yo. I think the 10 yo would be fine. But this isn't the old school top down view Zelda. It's an adventure game and can be hard at times. My mom loves the old ones, but hasn't been able to play a new one since the N64. But I LOVE it! It is definitely in my top three games. It's rated T for Teen BTW.

See above. Zelda is nothing like Rayman. Rayman is a mini game game, Zelda is a long adventure game where you swing a sword and solve puzzles in dungeons. GREAT game.

If you love Rayman, I suggest Wario Ware or one of the other billion mini game games out there (Mario Party, EA playground, Carnival).

There is a TON of reading in Paper Mario. It's a great game, but sounds like she may not have the patience for it right now. It's hard for me not to still recommend it to you though. I think we should be encouraging children to read in video games and this game is a perfect game to do so. Yes, the reading can be lengthy, but it's very funny and you can skip through it pretty quickly.

So no matter how much I love Zelda and Paper Mario some games are not for all families. Though I highly encourage purchase of these games if the children are old enough. Like Disney said, we need to encourage you all to buy worthwhile games at higher prices instead of terrible games (that your kids will play for all of 2 minutes). Otherwise publishers will keep making terrible games and selling them for cheap.
