Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

I went to TRU today and they had a full stock of Mario back in the stock room.

Is this a good enough start? We'r giving DD10 and DS17 a Wii for Christmas. We also picked up Wii Play, an extra numchuck, a charger, Mario Galaxy and Guitar Hero III. We still have about $55 in gift cards left , so the B2G1F special next week is enticing. Do we already have enough to get them through the Chritmas break, or should we jump on next week's special? Also, if we do go for the extra games, will we be battling huge crowds early Sunday morning to do so? Will there be a good enough selection?

Ok, so thanks to some lady on the Wii thread, who said stop trying Toys R Us and Target, find a GameStop and go there. Well, I have never heard of this place, so googled it and well, what do you know...the closest place to me!!! Right in the Target parking lot in fact! So, I called there on Monday to get the scoop and he told me to call each day around 11 to see if they had any. They had their last shipment on Thursday last week and usually get one a week.

I aint no dummy, so I WENT there yesterday at 11 and went in. The shipment had just gotten there and NO Wii's at all in that days shipment. This lovely lady I "know" from somewhere. Funny how people always seem to know who I am, but I am ! Anyway, she told me to get here at 10:30, as that is when the UPS guys show up each day.

So today, Z HAD swimming at 10:50, so I got there at 9:58, thank goodness, as there was a long line waiting to get in. I rushed over and got in the end of it. I figured they were there, but found out that that is what goes on each morning there, and that UPS does in fact get there at 10:30 and these people arrive everyday to wait for them to arrive.

Most of the people in line were actually there to buy stuff and did what they had to do and left. That left just four of us, all moms with little kids. Right after the UPS guy drives by, two more ladies walked in. We were all just standing around, waiting for the UPS guy to come on already and get there. While we are standing there, the phone had rang a few times and the workers told these people that YES, they were getting them in today, that they weren't there yet, and to call back in a bit, they have a line of people alread and they can tell them if there are any left. This irks me, as they claim to not know that they are arriving, but obviously with tracking, they DO in fact know!!!

Anyway, the Beautiful UPS man comes in with load after load of boxes, many from Nintendo, , and they asked us to please line up, IN THE ORDER WE CAME IN. Well, Mrs. #6, gets in line FIRST. Mrs. #1, #2, #3 and myself, #4 say OH NO You don't! She said, OH YES I DO, I am standing her now!!!

We are all pissed, and figure the store guy will straighten her out. Really though, since the Wii's come in boxes of 3, we know that they ONLY person effected by this B is the TRUE Mrs. #3, as she is now Mrs. #4, so if they only get one box, she is out of luck. I am into box two either way, so doesn't effect me at all!

But alas, they get in five boxes, so there are 15 of them and only 11 in line, so we all get one. Mrs. #11 came down to Quodba

NOt to sound mean or anything but I have never seen a store price match "gift card" or "special" promotions. Also it is everystores policy that they will only match prices if the Item is in stock...haveing been forced to work retail for more then 10years through highschool and college, I can tell you this is standard policy..so don't take it personal that they can't and won't price match.


Also why do you only want it if you can get an incentive? This game honestly and with 100% certanty is the WII game of the year. It's possibly the best game on all systems right now. I strongly sugest that you pick it up even at full price.

Basically because I'm a tightwad and hate that these games cost so much.

Toys R us will be having a buy 2 get 1 free on WII games(ONLY) this comming week...Sunday-weds.

Is in store and online? or only in store?

Is it true you can now get a disc that enables you to go on the internet with Ds lites? My son would love this. LAst year we got the Wii. This year the DS lite.

On Tuesday I managed to get Mario Galaxy!

My youngest stuck a SpongeBob sticker on the back of his DS and when removing it the serial number came off too. I never registered his DS, is the serial number embedded on one of the screens and/or do I really need this number for anything? He got his DS last Christmas so it's almost a year old.

I think you have a great start, but there's nothing wrong with taking advantage of the sale IF you can find 3 games you REALLY want. The sale isn't widely known, so I doubt you'll be battling huge crowds, but it might be a good idea to figure out what other games you might want before you go. I would go and see what it's like (supply and crowd-wise) and then if it's too much for you, know that you've done a great job already.

I don't know, sorry! I think the last 2 sales were online too, so I'd be surprised if this was different, although who knows what kind of games will be available on line.

Yes, there is a browser for the DS. I know very little about it except that I think the DS is too small to surf the net, but that's just my opinion. Everything I've heard about the browser is negative.

It's available, it's called the DS Lite Browser and uses WiFi, and uses Opera just like the Wii does. We don't have this as if they want to use the internet they can use the pc or Wii.

Hey tyedye! Wasn't the Buc's game awful last week?

Anyway, I wouldn't worry about the serial number. I don't know of any way besides the sticker to see it, but I hihgly doubt you'll ever actually need it. And if you do, I'm sure Nintendo will help you figure it out.

Ok technical question. ( well for me )

Ds has green emerald, originally played it on GBA, now on DSlite. It keeps saying something damaged??? ( I should ask DS the wording) I was told to delete it completely and only play it on the DS. Going back and forth between the 2 games is the problem. Can you explain this to me so we can fix it. He wants to only play it on his DS now. Thanks so mcu. I hope this makes sense.

Hey tyedye! Wasn't the Buc's game awful last week?

Yes very sad indeed, didn't even look like the same team I had seen other times during the season. My mom and nephew were at the game, we told them we were not letting them go to any more. Then on the way home they listened to the Redskin game, well they lost too, so I blame them for that too.

Now the Buckeyes had better beat TSUN or the season will be very disappointing. After we beat TSUN and win our bowl game, it will be another successful season. But seriously, it was suppose to be a rebuilding year as we lost so many players, and they have done better than expected, but... it was a hard defeat, but I'll take that rather than a defeat this weekend.

And the Big 10 really needs to do something about the way they schedule their games with the season ending this Sat yet other conferences have a few more weeks. With the BCS bowls being played so late, the Big Ten needs to play football in Dec to keep sharp.

I'm going to have to ask DH about this one. He's the Pokemon expert. I know the games do some flaky things.

The advice you were given means that he'd have to completely start over. I can easily walk you through that, but I don't know if he'll be okay with that.

If you could post the exact error message, I'll have DH come on after school to help. You can also usually go to nintendo.com and look up the error. I've done that with the WiFi connection.

ITA with everything you said!! All I know is I'm going to be very sad to see Lloyd Carr go! I thought if they won out the season there might be a chance he would keep the job, but after last week's loss, I highly doubt that will happen.

Just an update i went to TRU yesterday and they had plenty of the mario galaxy games, you just had to ask behind the counter...also if you just want the game and dont care about deal, costco was loaded with them.

Also, the Fri/Sat sale ad is posted now. They've got Shrek and Spiderman 3 on sale for $14.99. Any know if these are decent games? My son has Spiderman (don't know which one) for GC and enjoys it.

The thread only has one person so far that's store has started the buy 2 get one. It doesn't start until Sunday as far as I know.

Both of those games are worth $14.99. Neither are great, but definitely worth that price for fans of the characters.

Yes, I think TRU's getting a MAJOR jump on the Black Friday sales and will probably be nuts. That's why I'm sending DH and I'm staying home!

Would you say that the new one is better than Mario Party? My friend said that Party is one we should get for sure, lots of fun, but if anyone with Galaxy thinks it is better, I would rather get it. Or is it just different?

Not saying this is true, but I called the 1-800 and they said that unless the ad says In-Store Only, then it should be assumed that the deal will be available online as well. I will certainly be checking there first before heading out.
