Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

Just announced....
MARIO STRIKERS SOCCER which releases in europ in late May...will have 2 forms of Online play!
1-A ranked ladder system so you can try to be the best in the world at it.
2-Non ranked games so you can just pick up and play against people.

The US version is sure to have these features also. When I get a chance I will get the Us launch date for everyone.(Sure it's after June-when Pokemon launches, since we have been told thats the states first online game)

Tyedye,
Sorry If I sounded rude in that past post. It was a long day ( let it be a lesson never post in a bad mood!)

I fully understand, as HUGE OHIO STATE fan I understand where he/you are comming from. The PS2 may be the best way to go, just don't expect to be able to get "new" games for it much longer. And If you can get one cheep I would do it. That system had some really good classic games on it.

Good luck in decideing what to do!

Actually PS2 is outselling PS3 so it would be silly of Sony to stop making new games for it.

They will stop within the next year or so. It's silly for them to keep making games for a system that isn't the future of the company. If they want the new system to float they HAVE to start making games for it and it only. I was really suprised when I heard God Of War was going to be PS2 (happy, but shocked). That is just the type of game they need to sell more PS3s.

I think its funny how Sony and Microsoft keep putting down the Wii, saying its a flash in the pan sort of thing. :confused3 :lmao:

<<<RESIDENT EVIL NEWS>>>

Pulled this from nintendoworldreport.com
The community over at the NeoGAF forums put together an interesting thread about the new gaming news revealed in the latest issue of Famitsu. There was a pretty big spread about the Biohazard (Resident Evil) series that included the first information about a Resident Evil 4 remake for Wii.

Firstly, it is coming. It will include the new features that were added to the PS2 version as well as some Wii control additions. Aiming will be done with the pointer while reloading and knife fighting will be done by shaking the remote. Also, based on the scans, it may run natively on widescreen televisions, filling the entire screen, instead of in letterbox like the GameCube version.

On the Umbrella Chronicles front, the game will be an on-rails shooter using the Wii remote pointer to aim. The analog stick on the nunchuck will be used to look around and the player will have to choose a path during certain parts. Several Resident Evil characters will return as well.

NWR is currently looking into further details about the games. If you want to check out the NeoGAF thread, click the source link above.

1st, if you do not own RE4 for the gamecube and you are a mature gamer(language and Zombie Gore-Rated M for mature) Do your self a favor and but the RE4 wiimake! I own this game (the gamecube version) and have beaten it about 6 times! It is truely one of the best games of the last generation of systems. I am even thinking about getting the wiimake just to use the wiimote controler to shoot.

2nd, I was bumed when I was told RE: Umbrella Cronicles was going to be an FPS...looks like they were wrong with that rumor! Turns out it will be a Rail Shooter! Similar to House of the Dead in the arcade (or the plunger shooting levels of rayman) Now I'm pumped! While I still want the free roaming run around Re game like Re4 is, I really have wanted some good Rail Shooter games! Now All I have to do is sit and wait.

I'm totally geeking out about this news too.

I have to second all of DHs comments. RE4 is quite possibly my favorite M rated game out there and it should rock on the Wii.

And ever since I played the shoot em up levels on Rayman, I've been jonesing to shoot me some zombies!!! :teeth:

EA releases titles to capitalize on Wii success
Games based on PS2 releases with varying degrees of Wii-centric features

"When the Nintendo Gamecube settled into third place during the previous console generation, many publishers shifted their efforts to the vastly more popular — and profitable — PlayStation 2 and Xbox. But the surprise success of the Wii, which just crossed the five million sales mark (faster than any other console in video game history), has publishers scrambling to get their games back on Nintendo's mass-market machine....."

Anyone know anything about the Avatar game for the Wii?

Also we got my son a DS and gave it to him early for his bday since we were taking a long road trip. He loved it and played it almost the entire ride. Both boys played nintendogs together and also used the pictochat. So glad I decided on this instead of the PSP (which just dropped their price by $30). This way they can share games and chat together.

I know my DS(11) has the Avatar game and he says it STINKS! I'm not sure why he doesn't like it though. :confused3

He's a great game player so it may just be too easy for him.

WE just got the wii for easter and its a blast.....

WOW!!! I found a Wii rumor site that had tons of stuff written on it. Don't know how much was true. Color systems, color remotes, hard drive, dvd player??? All rumors though.

Now that the NCAA tournament is over my son has moved on to the NBA playoffs, so I guess it's just a matter of what is hot at the moment with him. He'd still love to play a tournament of college teams so hopefully one day there will be an NCAA football and/or basketball game for the Wii but in the meantime our GC games will satisfy him.

I'm sure he's also still happy with his new DS. Reading all about the PSP vs the DS, evidently the PSP wins the 'cool' factor but the DS wins for the best handheld player.

I've been reading more and more about new games for the DS and Wii and there are plenty of new games coming out that should make my kids happy.

What virtual console games are any good? And do they ever put the points on sale?

I'm sure we'll get new colors eventually, they always do that. I doubt we'll get a DVD player though. It already has a hard drive though I wouldn't be surprised if a bigger one and an upgrade for the old systems comes out eventually.

I think of the virtual console games as stuff for people my age (27:scared: ) to relive their childhood. Most kids now won't want to play nearly anything the VC has right now, since they are all old with blah graphics. You're better off picking up old GC games.

So I got Super Paper Mario today!!!! DH got the last one at Gamestop (that's what we get for not preordering it!)

I can't wait to get home and play it!!

We got our Wii a month or so ago! My DH was messing around with the photo channel and posted a pic that I don't want on there. I can't figure out a way to get it off...Is there anyway? Please tell me there is a way to delete things posted on there.

Ok let me deal with this...first the DW is sadly mistaken..the wii does not have a harddrive it has flash memory (think sd memory card) The rumor is there that we may see a harddrive espically if companies want tostart putting saturn and playstation1 games onto the VC. But don't hold your breath as Nintendo is against it at the moment. I'm willing to bet they allow for VC games to be put on sd cards long before they allow a HD.

The many colors of the Wii...back with the first offical announcment we say 6-7 different colors shown.(with wiimotes) In the end due to popular vote the white won out, but nintendo is known for offering a few choices in colors (look at the ds/GBASP) My guess is come Christmas we will see a second color Wii launched.

DVD player..NOPE NEVER...not in america. While Nintendo has announced a dvd enabled wii in japan they have said it will NEVER come to america. This is somethign they originally thought about doing when makign the system and decided against do to added cost.

I agree they may enjoy a few of the n64 VC games, but many of the vc games will either be too hard for them or they will think they suck do to them looking like 8-16bit graphics. Get 'em cube stuff and they will be happy.

An I have NEVER seen the points go on sale.

UMMM...I am pretty sure that you should be able to simple go to the system options menu and look onder memory management. You should be able to delete from there. I hav not put pics on mine so I am not 100% sure. Ther may also be a delete option inthe photo channel. Perhaps someone else has used it on here before.

Whoops!! Flash memory...flash memory!! I knew that! Good thing I got DH hooked on the DISboards!

First Super Paper Mario Impressions!
I am about 2.5 hours in and I must say I already enjoy it more then the last paper mario game(1000 year door on the gamecube)

SPM is a brilliant mix of platformer (think standard original side scrolling Mario) and an RPG (think Kingdom Hearts..where you have henchmen and can upgrade weapons, ect.) This version so far has done away with the booring turnbased battles and replaced them with full control, fun and fastpaced platform style play. You still get power up, ect. but you don't have to mess around with attack menus anymore.

The story is funny so far, as usual with the PM series. My only complaint is that it took too long, like 15 miutes, to get into the game...lots ot text/story set up. Once you get going however, it doesn't slow down.

With the limited time I have spent with it I can say it is sure to be considered and Wii classic.

My recomendation is that if you are a teen or adult you will like this game and get the concepts put for in it. A little kid will have a heard time with the 2d to 3-d transitions and the level of reading involved.

If you like Mario, RPG's, PLatformers,or any other Paper Mario that has even been made you will enjoy this game. So far I give it 4.5/5 Mushrooms! This may change as I get further in the game...I'll give you more impressions as I get mroe play time. I am also sure the DW will put her 2 cents in.

The Horned King,
Thanks for the review, DS has Paper Mario and Sonic Rings on his birthday list, trying to decide between the two. Heck..who am I kidding, I'll probably end up getting him both. He'll be 9 and understands dollar value and it'll be hard to explain why sister got a $200 Nano but he can't have 2 games totalling $100 :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

My 7 year old son is stuck at one part of the game. He wants to know in Chapter 3, how do you get the star block that you can't see? I haven't played the game, so I don't know anything about it, but that was as specific as he could be. Do you know anything about this? Thanks.
