Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

I am sorry if this has already been asked, does anyone know if/when the following games will be out for Wii:

Rockband
Star Wars (not the Lego one, we have that, but like a regular Star Wars battle)

I also heard a rumor about an Indiana Jones Lego coming out for Wii later this spring/summer. Anyone know if that rumor is true?

Also what about the older Guitar Hero games (I, II and Rocks the 80s) do you think Wii will release those for its system?

Anyone here play Lego Star Wars the Complete Saga?

I got it for Christmas -- put it on my wishlist once I heard about people really liking it, young kids playing it, etc.

I'm not a gamer by any stretch of the i magination...I get lost easily is free roaming worlds. I tried to played Lego SW last night and have no idea what I'm supposed to do...any thoughts or suggestions on how to not feel like an idiot here?

Are there any online walkthroughs or even tips for what im supposed to do?

Appreciate the input.

Read the review on ign.com that should help a bit and then I'm sure there is a FAQ/Walkthrough on www.gamefaqs.com

It'll be great practice so you can get some other open ended games like Zelda.

You seriously need to go to http://wii.ign.com to get the latest news for the stuff you are interested in. Since you already know more than the average bear, ign will keep you up-to-date better than we can.

I just wanted to tell everyone that i got the wii remote on the nyko charger working just fine with a skin on it. I had bought the skins from circuti city on BF made by verge. I was gonna keep them just for the nunchuck cuz for $3 it was worth it. Well today i finally opned up my charger and me being stuborn and hard headed decided that i was going to make it work. It really didnt take much i put on the nyko stuff, put the skin over and decided to cut a hole in the back with an exacto knife right where the connection is and i put it in there and its working. The blue light is on. Its just needs to be put in there somewhat snuggly and hard, not hard hard but you have to carefully put it in and push down a bit. Nothing out of the ordinary too much. So if you are thinking you want some just reporting that it does work. Now i havent tried that with teh nintedo clear skin but i figured ill leave that one alone and just cut a little whole on the cheap skins i got....

RB is awesome, but the drums are really hard, so just to put that out there. It will come out eventually just no time soon.

All you have to do with IGN is search for the game title you are looking for in the search box and/or just look through the news once a week or so to stay up to date.

I understand. It's just games like that that drive me nuts and make video game systems look bad. They are poorly made and only good to play like once and then you are over it...after you drop at least $50...just like all the licensed games people buy for their kids. Then they think the systsm is boring or bad, because all they buy is bad games. Makes me nuts.

Yeah i dont dare cut a hole in the nintendo ones, i really lik those and i dont hink those would fit but when i ge tthe extra ones i may try it, after all its just a tiny hole but with the thin colored sind from verge it seem,s to work if you are determined enough..lol. but you cant jus tplop them there you have to carefully have them make contact...lol

My kids have quite a bit of TRU credit to use so I think we might pick up Mater National. Anyone played this one yet? DS#1 loves Cars on PS2 so I think it might be a good choice.

As for skins, we received 2 with our extra wiimotes and no one likes them! We all do perfectly fine without them (although we do insist everyone use the wrist straps!!!)

BTW, I'm up to 13 stars in Super Mario Galaxy

We all thought it would be much more fun than it actually was. I think I might be heading to Amazon/Ebay with this one.

DS12 was really disappointed the first time he tried this game. His problem was that it wasn't responsive enough. He'd insist he was doing what the screen said to do but couldnt' get his guy to do the right moves. He quickly put it away. A day or two later he got it out again to play multi player with a friend and seemed to enjoy it more that day. I don't think it's ever going to be a favorite but at least now he seems to like it and says he'll play it with friends.

I was thinking about getting a driving game for my DS4 any recommendations for Cars, Cars Mater-nationals or Monster 4X4: World Circuit? We already have a steering wheel my DM picked up for us at 5 below. I was also considering one of the Raving Rabbids games. Both are 29.99 at Best Buy. Should we start with the first or second as a family game for me, DH, DD9 and DS4 to play together? Are they really violent? Would a Mario game be better?

RockBand is Avaliable for the PS2 BTW...it was released on Dec18th(very quietly I might add)

I don't like the plastic fro for my controlers either...just too clunky and worthless.

The first cars is a little on the though side for littleones (6 and under)...don't know about mater (see above) Monster 4x4 is not worth it!!! If you want that style of game I highly suggest Excite Truck(if you can find it).

Raving Rabbids is a great game...the first was a ton of fun, but to play multiplayer you have to playsingle and unlock the games first. The second is set up to be more of a party game and has multiplayer right off the bat....either is good. No you don't have to have played one to play 2. Most viloent they are is shooting Rabbids with plungers.

I am am Mario man over any of the above. Mario Galaxy is so far my GOTY(game of the year) on all systems. just my opinion though.

You'll either love or hate cooking mama....thats about all I can say there is no inbetween with this game. Either it's your style game or it's not.

No word on additional mics for HSM....my suggestion is to look in the instruction booklet and call disney interactive(you may be able to order one right through them)

Just in case you missed it...RB is available for the PS2 apparently, tho I haven't seen it anywhere. It was probably produced in smaller quanities than for the other systems.

Anyway, he lights a torch and tries to run in a cave and this totem thing keeps blowing it out. We can't figure out what to do to make the totem guy stop blowing out the torch. Any help?

I had to use a cheat doll on that one. He needs to run up the stairs (through the cave--at the very beginning of the cave) all the way to where the monkey guy is. On the ground at the top of the stairs is a clay jar-bowl-looking thing. I thought the monkey would attack me, but he ignores you. Pick up the jar and then take it back down the stairs. Then you have to through the jar on top of the totem. Then light your torch and proceed.

I'm glad I remember that one!

Have you tried using a cheat doll yet? Sometimes they help and sometimes they are worthless.

Thanks! That was very helpful. DS and DH finished the level. DH was mad that I asked for help, he says the fun of it is to figure the stuff out. Anyway, I think they figured out and completed the rest of that level and then quit for the day. I'll keep you posted.

DS now has 40 something stars in Galaxy by the way.
