Official Wii/DS Q/A thread. FAQ in first post! Game reviews in second post!

Typically the AFTER 5pm listing means that item will not be on the floor or available for sale until after 5 pm. Other times, new releases are available at midnight on Tuesdays. Hope that helps. :goodvibes

I subscribed to this thread last week, but this is my first post. We got a Wii and it was relatively easy. Here's what I did....

Gamespot is the place to go. Everyone goes to Target and TRU.

I called Gamespot and asked them how to get a Wii through them. They told me to call EVERYDAY right after they get their shipment in for that day. Sometimes they have Wii's, sometimes they dont. They usually get them in their shipment a few times a week. Find out when their shipping truck usually arrives daily and call a hr after that. Every day.

It took me about a week before i got one, but it was easy, and they don't mind you calling. You just can't ask them to put it on hold for you, as soon as you hear that they have it in, get there asap because they are gone in a matter of hours.

HTH!!!!! :thumbsup2

We're going to get DDR for DS, yet I'm confused about the packaging of the game, etc. I've seen the "Party Bundle" and "Hottest Party." :confused3

Here's what we want:

DDR software
2 dance pads

I have no idea, but I think you can only get one pad with the game at a time. I think the titles you mentioned are actually two different games, maybe on different systems? I'll do some research and get back to you.

Sarah--

Any idea if I can get the $25 gift card? I did one of those deals at TRU where you put five dollars down and they reserve it for you. I was going to pick up my copy of it tomorrow. I didn't have a TRU add in my PD today.

Thanks for any help!

Yes, DH did this and I'm sure they will give you a gift card.

Anyway, it's official, TRU is giving away $25 gift card with the purchase of Mario Galaxy!!!!! It's that fantastic???? I can't believe it!

Harleyquinn: The TRU ad stats In store Tuesday! by 5pm...

What do you think this means? Do they arrive @ 5 p.m.? Do you think I should wait until then or try earlier in the day? I do not want to miss out on the $25 gift card.

It means that it will be in store BY 5pm. Video games come in direct shipments to the store. When I worked at TRU they came in around 2pm. Then an associate has to scan them into the system. Then they are sold. We never held games for times in our ads and I doubt most stores will do this.

That said I think they will have TONS of the game and TONS of gift cards to give out.

As to whether to wait until Black Friday. No way for me, I can't wait to play it. I say if you know you have something you need to buy at TRU for $25, go to TRU (say Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles? ;))

I am a rookie to the gaming systems. My kids (10 & 12) each have a DS but that is it. I thought about getting the Wii for them for Christmas but it looks like they are in high demand so that may not happen. The only thing I like about the Wii would be the interactive games that get the kids moving. Is the Wii the only system that offers those types of games? Thanks!

Yes, the Wii is the only system that has A LOT of interactive games. All of the systems have Guitar Hero and DDR, which are the most popular active games. But one of the HUGE drawing points of the Wii is the activeness and Nintendo will continue to put out games to cash in on that.

Ok, there is so much helpful information here....thanks!

I purchased the Wii a few weeks ago to give to my DS7 and DS5. This is our first game console. But now I'm beginning to get worried that the Wii will be too hard for DS5. I think you can use gamecube games with the wii, so I'm thinking of getting DS5 a gamecube game to play on the Wii so he can use the classic controller. Would that make it easier for him? Also, should I buy the gamecube hand controller or the Wii classic controller? Or does it even matter?

Thanks in advance!

:)
As someone else said a lot of 5 year olds are fine with the Wii. I actually think the Wii games are easier for younger ones to pick up than any other system, Nintendo or otherwise. I'd just focus on games like Wii Sports, Wii Play and Mario Party. He'll be an expert (and way better than you) before you know it!

My 2 DD's are obsessed with Zac. We have both the Wii and PS2 systems. Any opinions about which is better for the HSM sing it game? The PS2 is about 10 dollars cheaper. Thanks for any help.

They are the same thing, go with the cheaper one and get some more life out of your PS2 (as long as it's still hooked up).

I have confirmed this Black Friday sale for Mario for $34.99 at Circuit City from the Black Friday post on this forum. I printed these out before the OP started listing Adscans so I have it right here in front of me. It's listed under Video Games as "Super Mario Galaxy for Nintendo Wii $34.99.

What does everyone think about being able to get this ---can I save some $$ or is my best bet to just get the ToysRus special with GC???

Like I said, I think TRU is better if you know you NEED to spend $25 on something there. If you wanna try for a black friday deal, go for it, but I think everyone should consider trying the TRU deal and then a black friday deal as a last resort (not that I think TRU will run out of gift cards.

I think as long as you get to your TRU tomorrow before closing, you'll get a card.

Phew! Nothing all weekend and then 2 pages!

Please let me know if I missed anything!

BTW - has anyone tried the Disney Princess Enchanted game? We rented it for our dd this weekend, and it was pretty easy....a great game for a 5 year old. She cleared the whole game but still plays it over and over! Don't know if older ones would find it too easy or boring, but for our young one, it was a hit! :thumbsup2

For anyone on the fence about Mario Galaxy...here are the scores/reviews it's been getting.

Nope, but always great to hear about games the little ones are loving!

I figured it out!!

Same game. "hottest Party" is the name of the game, if you see that it is the game only. The "party bundle" is the game with ONE dance pad. You have to buy a second one seperately.

Thanks!!! I will get there around 6 or so. I figure there will be loads of folk trying to buy it @ 5.

Honestly? If you're home in the afternoon, I would call around 3 and see if they have them yet.

Actually it might be a good idea to call the store and see if they are planning to hold the game until 5. (I doubt it, but just in case).

Will do!

you go girl...unfortunately I bought the Wii as a Christmas gift for the family so I have to wait.:rolleyes1

One more question. Does the public have to wait until all of the people who have reserved the game get theirs before we can buy one or is it that they put those on the side and start selling to the public the remaining stock?
