DH and I are trying to get into the NYPD runners club so we can do the marathon here next year. Maybe we'll see you!

Yes--I'm already planning what to wear, either the statue of liberty or possibly a black and white cookie.

Apparently I've been living under a rock since school started. I just booked my flight and went to the rundisney site to check expo hours, but couldn't find the info on the new site. I'm getting in a little before 2 on Friday, and am staying at BLT. I'm sure the expo is open until at least 7-8 Friday night, but wanted to know the exact hours that day. Does anyone know where to find the hours?

Hey Heather! Glad to see you back on the boards! I was hoping to see you at the Chicago Rock-n-Roll Expo last month because Bondibands were there. But it was another person working the booth.

Hope life is good and school is manageable. :)

I usually stick to events in the KC area. I think the Chicago rep was busy the weekend of the Illinois Marathon, so that's the only reason I was out there for that one. I wish I got to do more Chicago events, I need to get one on my calender for next year!

I'll let you know when school gets manageable. Right now I'm lucky to sneak in a workout in the evenings. :faint:

THis is fairly close...

http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/fullscreen/4106815/

It's a combination Garmin, USATF and experience effort

Looking at your map, the entrance into Epcot is off at on Epcot Blvd... Move the course to the bus exit lane on Epcot and then enter through the cast member entrance near the bus stops and if will work.

Thanks. From looking at other maps it appeared the official map was less than accurate at several places.

Sorry if it's been written in here somewhere, I tried to find this but, does anyone know what the highest elevation of the marathon is?

If you hop off and ride Everest.... about 199 feet. Otherwise runs in the 100-110 foot elevation topping out at about 130 feet on a couple of overpasses and about 70 feet at the lowest opint under Seven Seas Lagoon .

For those with experience of going to the expos on Friday afternoon, what will the selection of merchandise be, at best guess?

I have learned that I will most likely be teaching a Thursday night class which screws up my plan to fly out Thursday afternoon, thus forcing me to leave Friday morning and probably getting me to the expo about 1pm on Friday.

I know this might be hard to determine because of the anniversary but I would like a guesstimate of what I should expect so as not to be too terribly disappointed.... :(

I've been on vacation the past two+ weeks so I haven't seen the 5K medal. I saw the Mickey Medal and really like it. Can someone point me in the direction of the 5k? Thanks. :)

All I know is that when you show up Saturday at the expo, and the forecast is for 27 degrees the next morning, all the tights are gone (if there were any to start with).

I googled the pic but it will not let me add it! Weird!

I think it was mentioned here on this thread...
Say, for instance, free dining isn't offered until Sunday, so have to get a room only Fri and Sat- I'm guessing if I want to do a park on Saturday, I'll need a one day ticket since my "package" won't be available until we check in on Sunday??

If there is a really hot item like the handbags offered at the last Princess and Tink races, you are kind of out of luck. But you were also out of luck if you showed up after a couple hours on the on the first day, also. More that likely you will find most everything with the possible exception of I Did It half shirts. Some sizes may be picked over. It really is a guess though as it varies from year to year.

It's on the runDisney Facebook page on August 12 of the timeline.

I "think" you are allowed to pick up your package tickets early if you go to Guest Services at one of the parks.

So happy! Last time we took Jet Blue from NY, our flights arrived at 3:30 AM and there weren't any rooms available so we camped out in the airport until 6 am. This time we are scheduled to arrive at 12:30 AM again (cheapest flight) but I found a great rate at the Ramada Suites for 87 bucks. Hopefully the shuttle will still be running, if not I've been told a cab costs about 15 dollars. It's still better than the flights that got us in early on Friday morning. We'll get a night of sleep in a decent bed, a nice hot breakfast for free and then a shuttle ride back to the airport to take the ME to Disney.

Hey people....a little WISH pixie dust would be greatly appreciated. Found out yesterday I have a probable stress fracture in my foot. Going today for a bone scan, My NYC marathon is down the tubes, and need to get better so I can train to finish Goofy (note the use of the word "finish" instead of "race").

Will go looking for an Aqua Jogger belt today, and will see if I can do any cycling to try and stay fit (and sane).

Not a happy camper.

Just wanting some advice/opinions:

My running training program through Running Room has been running 5x week. It is usually:

T=short tempo run (from 3-6k over time)
W=hills (up to 9 hill repeats of 500m incline) then later fartleks
TH=steady run (from 3-8k)
S=steady run (from 3-8k)
Su=LSD (now is 16k, working up to 20k)

I find that about every other week something comes up with work or life and I miss either the Tuesday or Thursday run. I missed it last night due to family time and I was too full to run after our late dinner (lame, I know).

But, our running group runs to our hill and back which adds 5k to Wednesday. So for instance, this week is about 11k on hill day. In the Running Room program the mileage is calculated for the week, but with this extra 5k on hill days our group is actually running about 15-20% more than the total weekly kilometers in the plan.

So, my question is this: when I miss one of the short days, like last night, should I make it up to keep on track, or let it go? I have hills tonight and thinking of doing my 4k this morning, and then the hills tonight. Am I getting enough training in on the weeks I only get out 4x/wk considering the extra kilometers on hill night? This week, even without last night, I will be at about 36km for the week, on week 10 of an 18 week HM program. The program calls for a total mileage of 34k on this week, btw.

I could also do some cross-training on my bike instead this morning. Maybe that is the smart thing to do?

Also, my knees are really sore after hills. I have that patellar-femoral thing dx'd by a MD. I use the KT tape for long runs but it helps not at all on hill nights I don't think. Any hints? I sometimes walk down the hills on the way back down as I think it is the down part that is hurting...

Thanks!
