Here on Long Island a lot of downed trees and other storm damage. Unfortunately no power as well.

My heart goes out to you all without power. We did 10+ days last October with tbe freak snowstorm. We narrowly escaped the hurricaine Sandy...hope it comes back soon - stay warm...and keep Disney Dreaming!

Well, Sandy was at least kind enough not to tamper with my Wine & Dine next weekend. Hope everyone else is doing okay, up in NJ my family is lacking power and my parents recently discovered they have a new indoor pool in the basement, but I in DC escaped completely unscathed and with two unscheduled (paid) days off from work, so now it's time to gear up for my first 15 mile run and Wine & Dine next week.
It was definitely a kind of creepy, if slightly scary experience but the silver lining is that I've never been to Trader Joe's and had such a short line as I did this morning.

Was originally planning on doing my run outside, but the 40 mph gusting winds and ice pellets put a damper on that. Ran on the dreadmill, but cut it short, thinking I would just move todays 8 miler to tomorrow, and the 15-16 miler to Thursday. . . forgetting that first thing Thursday morning, I get to go to the dentists for some minor dental work. Bleh. Guess I'll run while my mouth is still numb from novacaine, which will make drinking on the run amusing for anyone watching.

Where is everyone eating on Sunday after the marathon? I finally got my coveted 'Ohana ADR at 5:20 that day. Can't wait to fill up on protein!

We have an ADR at Paradiso 37 right now so we can go to the after party but we may change it!

We are celebrating at the Flying Fish Cafe and following it up with some fun at the Boardwalk if we have the energy. I've never been to that area before.

Chef Mickey's at 5:30. Wife and friend made reservations months ago.

Airport chow. Unfortunately having to head home for an evening flight that night. Crazy bad planning on my part. Oops!

I was going to eat there at 5:15 but I kept checking for 'Ohana, which was my first choice. I'll go to MK and get my Mickey and medal pic after dinner.

I have coronary heart disease. I am 45 now. In October of 2006 I set my 1/2PR of 1:33. 10 weeks later I had a heart cath and it showed 7 blockages 4 were over 90%. So 4 days after my 40th birthday I had 5 stents put in. Since then I have run over 10000 miles. My Doctor encourages me to run. It probably saved my life. I went to the Doctor because of what I noticed and how I was feeling in the weeks leading up to and following the race.

As far as getting your HR over 165. Is your Doctor a runner? Do you know what your HR max is? Or are you just guessing using a formula? Just because your HR is above 165 doesn't mean you are in an anaerobic zone. HR training is good to make sure you aren't running to fast all and time. It is also great at showing the progress you are making and looking at trends. No matter what advice you get from all the experts on the INTERNET. Always listen to your doctor but you may want to get a second opinion :)

BTW just finished a great book that is relevant. 14 Minutes by Alberto Salazar.

Yea I've done the heart cath too. I'm just using the formula. Looks like I need to go to a gym to figure out my true max heart rate. I'll check out that book. I love all the advice....I don't trust just my doctor, I like to research from running people too. I haven't found a doc that runs yet.

Limping Rocio here :cool1: Ankle is looking so much better today. Swelling is gone on one side, but still persists on the other. Right now I am still planning to go to Chicago with my friends and enjoy a night out and the chocolate party afterwards. I don't think I'll be running the Hot Chocolate 15k though. But you never know. It is still 4 days away and it's only been 5 days since I sprained my ankle. The pain is gone. Just swelling. Okay the pain isn't completely gone, but it comes and goes. Still bruised a bit. It's been odd not to run in a week. I'm feeling lazy.

Just some information regarding maximum Heart Rate

We'll be eating back at our motor home in FW, same as the last 2 Dopey Weekends. Most likely some home-made vegetable soup.
