Official WDW Marathon Weekend 2013 Thread-Part 2

Merry Christmas, all.

Hoping that our long runs will be enough for the marathon. We did our 20 miler back on the first weekend in November. Ended up doing 21 actually since I made a wrong turn at one point. :) Anyway, after the surgery we've done an 8 miler and a 10 miler and had planned for a 15-18 miler on Sunday, but DH's back got tweaked at mile 7 and we thought better to quit than push through and cause a serious injury. We managed around a 12:45 pace for the last two runs so I'm not too worried about keeping ahead of the sweepers. Just hoping that we can make it through the 26.2. Pace is really the least of my concerns right now. I see the oncologist tomorrow and am keeping positive thoughts that he'll be fine with delaying chemo until after the race. I'll be darned if I'm giving up now. ;)

We are just going to finish out our normal training runs as defined by the plan and hope for the best. Can't wait to get to Disney and earn that medal!!

You are an inspiration. I am going to stop my worrying and think of you through all 26.2 miles! My training concerns are nothing compared to yours, I only have a week side-line because of bronchitis and I am all freaked out. No more! Thank you for reminding me. Merry Christmas and I hope you get the ok to run:).

I wish you the very best wishes, and hope your appointment goes really well tomorrow.

For sure you are an inspiration!

I have! When I ran indoors for my 20 this weekend, I used it as a dress rehearsal and wore my race outfit so now that it's washed it's been packed in my bag.

I've started getting toiletries ready. I got a new suitcase for Christmas, so hopefully after this weekend I'll get all the christmas stuff put away and can focus on the trip!

I think this may have been discussed before, but does any one have recommendations for a fuel belt. Only doing the 1/2 so I don't need for it to hold a huge amount of water, but one that holds a water bottle, keys, beans, etc, with no jiggle. I juggle enough on my own (haha, I couldn't resist)! ;)

Our costumes are all ready to go too! They got delivered to one of our group last week. I'll start packing a day or two before I leave when I have a better idea of what the weather will be. When flying a zillion hours to get there, you want to bring as little as you can.

I am lucky, I live 2 hours away so I can pack heavy;). I end up bringing enough for any and all weather and then a little more! Lol. I am dressing up as Donald thus year so I am really just planning on bringing two tops, one long sleeved and one tank top. The bottom is set 8).

I travel so often that I will wait until the night before, usually about an hour before bed. Note that my my toiletry bag is always ready to go since I restock post trip. My running gear is also in it's own drawer... and cold weather stuff ready to go in an old travel bag.

Definitely a great time to think about packing even if one procrastinates...

I recommend an ifitness hydration belt (wwwifitnessinc.com and available in several running/sporting goods stores). I have the 16 oz belt (holds two 8 oz bottles, has slots for fuel, a pocket that holds all kinds of junk if you need it to and toggles for your race bib). When I wear it during races I use one of the bottle holders to hold my cell phone. I haven't had any trouble with it shifting around or causing shafing. My husband has one as well and said he barely notices it's there.

I'd recommend either a belt from Fuel Belt or one of the ones from Nathan. If you don't need any water at all, then get a SPI belt.

I haven't started packing yet but am going to start on a list today. I usually pack last minute but since this trip requires a lot of specialized items I want to be a little better prepared.

Bib #22824 for Goofy. I finished my last back to back runs Friday/Saturday, 12 Friday and 24 Saturday. The run on Saturday was a tough one and while my time was okay 4:30, I felt sluggish and slow. However, it is done and moving forward into taper time! Like several others, I have started putting together clothing, food etc to take with me. This will be our first time to drive to WDW, so my foam roller, and other bulky items will be packed in the car. Can't wait for race day!

I have an iFitness double pouch belt with two 8 ounce add-on bottles for the back. I use it on all my long runs and barely notice it. Though, I am looking forward to taking off the water bottles for the marathon and not having that extra pound to run with!
