Official WDW Marathon Weekend 2013 Thread-Part 2

I think this may have been discussed before, but does any one have recommendations for a fuel belt. Only doing the 1/2 so I don't need for it to hold a huge amount of water, but one that holds a water bottle, keys, beans, etc, with no jiggle. I juggle enough on my own (haha, I couldn't resist)! ;)

Really should not need water in the race... except for that added feeling of security. The new ifitness belt seems to be the newest design out there AND it has everything one would want in a race belt...
Two bottles, gel loops, bib locks and a small pouch.

I don't know if this have been mention before but is there any discount or cheap tickets to the park on marathon weekend?

Jeepers! I do not hold a lot of faith in forecasts that are more than a few days out... but really LaccuWeather! I have not seen a forecast for rain lock up and stay constant for a week on a long term forecast. Especially during the dry part of the year.

Ugh, there better not be rain....

Decided I can't live with myself if I don't do those 4k more. Changing out of my wet running clothes and into dry ones and heading out. At least I got a 15 minute rest. Lol

Good for you! I bet that took strength to go back out. Way to go!

I know. It's starting to depress me. It's been at 75% chance of rain for a week now. :( Rain, rain, go away. Can't wait for 10 days away so we can start comparing other weather forecasts. I hate running in wet shoes.

I don't trust Accuweather. More of a weather.com girl. Accuweather was so wrong here in central TX in one of the cold snaps a couple of weeks ago...for a short term forecast, no less! They said it was going to get down to 25 degrees, so I called my BF to make sure all the pipes were dripping and protected and worried needlessly. Only got down to 33 or 34. 8-9 degrees is a fairly big miss when you are only 12 hours out. (more understandable for long range) Weather.com called it much closer.

So, I won't really look at WDW weather until about Jan. 1, and won't finally pack until closer to Jan 7-8.

Ran 5 Christmas miles yesterday--felt good but it was so hot!!! I've been trying to get in some yoga to help stretch my muscles--things are getting tight.

Today I am sending out a ton of race metals to Medals4Mettle. Hopefully it will help others in their fight.

I wouldn't be too concerned with the forecasts yet--we're still a long way out--my husband is a meteorology nut and even he doesn't look this far ahead (stay positive, right!!).

Have a great day everyone!

ALMOST wiped out this morning. I was running late (as usual) to work and while running across the parking lot, I slipped on a piece of black ice. :faint:

Whoa!! My left arm hurts from the way I threw it back to steady myself, but I'm so happy I didn't fall this close to the marathon!! It's the little things that make me happy. :thumbsup2

Hope everyone had a WONDERFUL Christmas!

Lets not forget 2010! 70's on Friday 30's and snow/sleet/rain for the half and freezing for the full. I was standing in line with a bunch of guys from Brazil after the half for the bus and those poor guys were blue from the cold lol. Definitely knocking on wood as I type this. :worship:

Knocked out my 20 miler on christmas day. it went surprisingly well. Now just two long weeks until disney. I cant wait.

Hi, Everyone,
I just joined and am popping in to say hello. I'm a veteran of many runDisney races, but this will be my first marathon. Training has gone well...now time to taper.

Good luck everyone!

I recommend an ifitness hydration belt (wwwifitnessinc.com and available in several running/sporting goods stores). I have the 16 oz belt (holds two 8 oz bottles, has slots for fuel, a pocket that holds all kinds of junk if you need it to and toggles for your race bib). When I wear it during races I use one of the bottle holders to hold my cell phone. I haven't had any trouble with it shifting around or causing shafing. My husband has one as well and said he barely notices it's there.

I have the same belt and love it. I've not tried using the water bottle holder for a cell phone but that is a good idea and I'm going to try that. I used the toggles to hold my bib recently in a race and it was so nice since I could layer on top and not worry about covering my number. And the belt really stays put. I wear it low and snug on my hips. No bounce at all. I also have the belt from ifitness that has the double pouch. It is good too and I rigged it to hold my race bib with an extra set of toggles that they gave me. They have a new sunglasses add on. Hopefully they will have one at the expo that I could try and maybe buy.

I have this fuelbelt http://www.fuelbelt.com/s.nl/it.A/id.1331/.f?category=2865&color=33
I also bought an extra pouch you can slide on which gives me 2 zippered pockets. One for my cell phone and one for keys/ID. This isn't enough water for me but I use it to supplement the water stops.

I wasn't so lucky today. I was goofing off with DS in the parking lot this morning on the ice and I fell back and busted my head open. Went to emergency clinic and got 5 staples in my head.

My neck is killing me and is going to be worse over the next couple of days. I was supposed to do 10 today. I think its going to keep me from doing anything until at least the weekend. At least my last 20 was last week.

Yay Michelle!!!

Merry Christmas everyone! I received a Christmas Eve present from my husband. He took me to have a pedicure ; two days after my last long run. The tech massaged my legs and calves with oiled hot stones!!! Oh my...it was heaven and totally took away the soreness!!

This is a non-running related post but I could really use some extra prayers. My mom collapsed on Christmas Eve and is in the ICU in critical condition. The prognosis is poor. This was completely unexpected. Please keep her and especially my step-dad in your thoughts and prayers.
I'm still planning to run the Goofy as she would never forgive me if I missed it on her behalf.

Amanda
