Official WDW Marathon Weekend 2013 Thread-Part 2

I'm sorry..I don't have facebook access on my computer...Dumbo Double Dare???

They haven't posted about this specifically on facebook, just the 10k announcement. But it's exactly like the Goofy challenge, only much more manageable! 10K + half. The info is on runDisney's website: http://www.rundisney.com/disneyland-half-marathon/

The registration fee is $280 ($95 for the 10k + $175 for the half + 10 mystery dollars), which is definitely steep, but as you'll never catch me signing up for the Goofy this is my alternative! Also the potential for 4 medals in one weekend should I successfully complete the marathon next month!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh, I want C2C so bad...that would mean getting FOUR medals at once??? I need to check my bank account...

Well not training as well as I had hoped but after my first semester of Law School hopped on the treadmill this morning and ran 8 miles without stopping! That the first for me considering the furthest I've ran without stopping was 2 miles! I am hoping this will get me back on track for the marathon. I would have kept go ongoing but have company coming so I had to stop. I felt great, like I could do the 26.2! Here's to running 26.2 miles when I am 26.2 years old!!!

You'll do fine! My school semester has kept me from my training as well, but as long as you keep yourself under control pace wise you'll be a happy runner for the majority of the race.

26.2 at 26.2 is extra awesome! Happy belated birthday!

Thanks. I actually ran the wine and dine on my birthday!! It was amazing. Just before our corral started my alma mater (ksu) became the number 1 football team in the country! I was amazing!!!

Just curious, are there any pacers in corral D & what is the finish time if they are there?

They don't tell you which pace groups are in which corrals, but they have
Pace Teams will be provided for the following finish times:
Marathon - 3:05, 3:15, 3:25, 3:35, 3:45, 4:00, 4:15, 4:30, 5:00, and 5:30.
Half Marathon 1:40, 1:50, 2:00, 2:15, 2:30, 2:45, and 3:00

I'm sure the faster times are in Corral A, and slower times must be in the G, H, I range.

Does runDisney typically offer registration discounts at the expo? Say, if I wanted to register for the new Dumbo Double Dare at Disneyland? I really want to do it, but $280--oof.

Not that I have seen. If you are an ActiveAdvantage member, the fees associated with the registration are waived and that is like $20 or something (that's 1/3 of the ActiveAdvantage membership fee). Also, if you register during the WDW Expo, they often have a special gift to hand out like a Disney duffle bag or something.

YES!!! I just saw the info on the Dumbo!!! Since I am going for my C2C in 2013, I am totally going to sign up for the Dumbo Double Dare! Since it is an inaugural event, I hope the Dumbo medal will be cool! The DS might run it as well which will make it extra special!!

It would be cool if Disney offered a special C2C for those doing both the Goofy and the Dumbo. But that might be too much to ask for....

My husband is in Corral E for the 1/2 marathon and wants to attempt a three hour finish. Will he be too far back to follow and/or catch up to the CLIF Bar pace team for a 3:00 finish time?

I was in corral F last year and mannaged to finish in 3:17 if that helps.
I walked most of it. :)

Training question - if I haven't been able to get my weekday shorter runs in, should I cut the long run short on the weekend?
I don't post often - but I do check in quite a bit and I get so much inspiration and helpful advice from reading this thread, so thank you all!:thumbsup2

This is my plan, too!

I can't remember where the pacers are, but wouldn't Corral E be in front of the 3:00 pacer? The 3:00 pacer is the last pacer for the half, so I would guess he would be toward the back third of the corrals.

Thank you--that ought to help me con him into trying for 2:45 :D

E would have the 2:45 or 3:00 pacer - depending on where the time lines were drawn. If the 2:45 is in your corral, simply fall back a corral to find the 3. You want to do this prior to crossing the start, else you give up 6 minutes before you really start. You can find out where they are at the expo

Good Luck

NO....

If anything, fall back on pace just a bit as you start off the training run.

Note - if you are following a Galloway plan, the long run are really the key runs and the weekday runs are to keep you loose. Likewise, with Higdon's Novice plan, the runs are longer, but most folks really focus their effort on the long run.

Go out have a great long run this weekend and then enjoy Taper

Question-will we be able to sign up for the DL half and Dumbo at Marathon Weekend expo? Registration does not open until the 22nd of January I thought. Just wondering if I have to drop a boat load of money at the expo to get registered for Cali-DH may have a horse at the credit card bill:faint:

During the last WDW, you were able to register early for the Disneyland Half at the expo. It wasn't any cheaper, but at least you knew you had your registration in. I would imagine you will be able to register for any of the three races or the Dumbo.

Does runDisney take checks?

The registration at the expo was done via computers connected to the Active.com web site. I do not remember if Active accepts payments via check. They may only accept credit cards.

Thanks! I don't get my student loan until the day after the wxpo

So I seriously need to win the lottery, or find a long lost, rich, dead relative! I soooooo want to do the Dumbo Double Dare! And I would get my C2C, so I could check that off. But I am already doing the marathon AND Princess Half. I would have to work all kinds of crazy extra hours over the summer to pay for it. Hmmm, may need to do some number crunching, and some extra DVC points would be nice. Maybe Santa can help this running fool! :santa:
