Official Upgrade to SSR thread

Just got off the phone...no luck at all! I told the CM that "a friend" of mine had received this offer when calling so I just wanted to check on it, too. She acted like she hadn't heard of a PIN code with that offer or really of that ever happening. She diligently tried to find something for me, but nothing came up. She even checked availability at SSR and said sometimes special offers just pop up, but nothing popped up for me.

For you guys that got the upgrade, what did you say when you called? Is this a PIN thing or just luck of the computer or what??????

Funny, I did the exact same thing, three times now, each with a different CM. Said a friend got it and I didn't have email access, could they check. They did, said it would cost $2400+ to upgrade to SSR.

Just curious, have any Canadians received the upgrade offer?

1 The free dining does not start until the 26th. You would actually need 2 reservation to get it. One for the 25th and a new one starting on the 26th

Hi, Thank you for answering my previous questions about arriving on 8/25 to start an 8/26 free dining package. Sorry to put another question on this thread but maybe other folks can learn from it if arriving prior to 8/26 for the package.

If I book a 6 night free dining package to start on 8/26 and arrive on 8/25 using a separate 1 night room only ressie for 8/25, but got the 7 day MYW park hopper tickets with the free dining package, would I not be able to use any part of the 7 day MYW park tickets on 8/25? I am thinking I won't be able to use it yet, but wanted to make sure. Thanks so much and congrats to all of you SSR folks! Who says this isn't a year of a million dreams, huh?

HMMM. I am not sure but my quess would be that since you weren't checking in until 8/26 with the Park Hopper then there wouldn't be a way to get them a day earlier. You may want to call and check on that one.

It took me a couple of times calling also. The first time the CM had no clue and told me it was something from Marketing and so sorry. Later I called back and told them I am sure I received an email but it went to my bulk mail and was deleted. To be honest my bulk mail was deleted on Thursday evening and I really don't know if I got the magical email, But I asked very nicely if they could please check my email address and reservation to see if I had it. He did ask me a couple of times if I had my pin but I just remainded firm but pleasant that it had been deleted. Eventually after about 30 minutes I was able to get the upgrade although at first he told me it was for Coronado Springs a moderate! We have been there before and really did not like the "convention atmosphere" especially at meal times. I asked are you sure it wasn't for Saratoga Springs and guess what we were able to get a Studio there. Perfect
But another call the next morning to see if I could add a day and had there possibly been any one bedrooms open up and we now have a one bedroom for DD13 and I. We will spend that first extra day there at the resort and DTD to see if we really like it. Before we buy SSR DVC!

I upgraded from a Pop standard to a 1 bedroom at SSR. But, now I have a dilema, my best friend decided to join us on the 30th, and wanted to do a grand gathering.

My question to you all is do you think that if we called together, could she be upgraded as well? That would be great and then we will not have to travel in order to be together.

You can get up to three rooms with the upgrade.
We are a party of 12 (Grand Gathering) that was booked for POP from 8/26-9/3. We had 4 rooms at POP. Only one of the four families received the pin code. They allowed us all to upgrade but into only 3 1BR at SSR. Call WDW and see what they can do for you!

You will not be able to access your park ticket on 8/25 since it is a seperate reservation. The tickets are tied to your FDP since you need to purchase a ticket to get it. I arrive the evening of 8/24 and we plan to swim, eat at The Kona Cafe & go to DTD on 8/25 since we can't get in the park.

I agree but it seems like this might be the busiest Labor Day weekend of all times. My trip doesn't begin til Sept 6th so probably no upgrade for us but thats ok. I'd rather have less crowds than a better hotel. Well unless they upgraded me to Poly LVC now that I'd take any day of the year.

We were told that each person receiving the code could upgrade up to 3 rooms, so you should be fine!! Have fun

Thanks, I called on Sunday evening. I was so nervous, didn't really think that they would do it, and we really wanted to be in the same place. To make a long story short, they transfered us to Grand Gatherings, and it was done with no questions asked. We now have 3 rooms at SSR.

Though they did make a mistake the first day because they had her and half of her party at SSR, and her husband and the rest of her party at ASSP. But, it was very easy to transfer everything over.

You bet, DD13 and I even added an extra day so that we can spend one day ~Saturday, Sept 1~ playing at SSR. We plan on doing some of the crafts and games, maybe a spa manicure and movies at the pool.

I was looking forward to trying SSR before we bought into it but I jumped the gun today and made an offer on a resale contract. Wish us luck!! Hopefully we will be owners by the time we make this Dream Trip.

Here are some recent threads that discuss the Movies at the Pool. We will have to wait until check in to get the final list of activies:

Some people are reporting it is every night, and some are saying only certain nights and that the screen is traveling to different DVC locations. We are hoping it will be there sometime while we are enjoying SSR.

They don't have a car rental location at SSR but Alamo/National have desks at the Car Care Center and I either the Swan or Dolphin. You just call them and they send a shuttle bus to pick you up and bring you there to sign the papers and pick up your car.
We did that one year when we flew into Sanford. We didn't need the car for the whole week but we rented at Sanford returned to Car Care Center and did the reverse to go home which also allowed us to run to the store the first day to pick up snacks and stuff.
