Official Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend 2015 Thread ** May 7-10, 2015

Last year Mother's Day Weekend was insanely HOT (I believe it was high 90's, to the triple digits), so I for one am hoping for cooler weather this year. I've only been living in SoCal for 3 years and that's all that sticks out in my mind, so I feel like it was out of the norm, but you never know.

We've been at the park on Mother's Day, and it's been hot. I'm hoping for June's "Gloom Doom" to set in a little early.
Also. we have a 5:30 start, when in the past years we started the 1/2 at 5:00 a.m.

Anyone else looking forward to pictures of the merchandise ??

I can deal with hot. It's cold and wet that I really struggle with. When I go back to training again next week or so (after my legs stop feeling like they want to detach themselves from me like Barbie legs), I'll keep running in the middle of the day just to acclimate. I'm guessing it will be good training for PDC and eventually DLH.

I can do hot and dark but not hot and direct sunlight - that kills me. I'm happy to do my 105 degree trail races - at night - but put me in 85 in the day and I whither.....here's to hope I got a good corral placement so I can start as early as possible before it gets hotter. I submitted 1:54 from avengers but I'm doing the challenge so....idk what that means for corrals.

I've posted in another thread (Wine and Dine), but I've never officially told you all that I'm in for the PDC here, too! We're from Nevada, but we make it down to CA a handful of times every year, so we have APs. We're doing a MAJOR splurge from the usual Motel 6 and staying at DLH this trip. My husband and I are both in for the PDC, and my three kids (1, 5, and 6) are running the kids races.

This is my first challenge, so I'm a little nervous about back-to-back runs. That's on the docket for the next few weeks' training.

Oh June Gloom! I love that time of year. Remember when we had those 2 awesome years for the DL 1/2? Best races ever! 1000% better than the 103 we had in '07, but now that I've said that, that's what'll happen for Tink. I wish we started at 5 too. One downside to switching weekends.

As for merch, I hope it's not great only b/c I know the DL stuff will be awesome and know I'm gonna spend a ton in Sept.

Funny....your right that weather is called June Gloom. Since I hate overcast (unless I'm running) I always add the "doom" part. And I drive my DH crazy since I can never remember the proper name for that weather.

May we never have to run in weather like we had in 07 again. It was my first 1/2 and I just didn't know anything different.

Thanks I forgot that there should be special merch for the 10th year anniversary. Are they still selling the vinymation rD little guys and the necklace for it from the different races??

Add another person from the east coast here. All of my training has been in the sub-50 degrees. Princess 10k last month was 40 degrees! I am also in for PDC, and also worried about back to back runs. I already plan to take the 10k very easy! I hope it's not too hot as I not sure how prepared I would be for that.

I didn't see the medals at WDW or SW, mostly b/c I wasn't looking, but know they're selling the vinylmations.
It's one of the guess boxes w/ Mickeys and Minnies. I think I saw either on the rD page or at the expo for every 9 Mickeys there is 1 Minnie.

As Tinker Bell weekend looms closer, I am dreading the thought of running in the heat. My parents were at DL last week and they said it was in the 100s! Is there a face-melting emoji? I really want to keep running the Tinker Bell, since it's the first half I ever did, and I'm still a perfect Pixie, but I'll have to reevaluate after the race, to see how I feel about running in May.

I'm also staying off-site, at a friend's house in Long Beach. I stayed at his house for the Avengers race in November, but that was one race, and he was running it, too. This time, I am the only one running, and for the whole challenge, but he says he's cool getting up early both mornings to drive me, and then to hang out and cheer, so I'm taking him up on it! Hopefully he doesn't hate me when the weekend's over.

After I PR'd a half this past weekend, I'm not all that worried about being in the last corral. I didn't submit a time either. But knowing I can fairly easily keep a 13:21 pace I'm not that worried. Plus I'll probably be taking it easy with the PDC. Nice slower pace with DW for the 10K. Then nice and easy 1/2. It's never been my goal to PR during a Disney Race. too much to see and pictures to take and crowds to contend with to worry about going faster. I'll save that for other races.

Dooney & Bourke designs have been released and are available for pre-order! I guess they learned their lesson after the fiasco at Princess weekend...

I think they did a great job with the design this year!

I like the design BUT....do I need another D & B???? I have a few now and I don't really seem to use them even at the parks.

I've heard that they'll refund you the difference if you have an AP, but I haven't tried it myself (I didn't realize that was an option the last time time I got a runDisney Dooney...). It's worth a shot!

And do any of us really NEED any of the Dooneys?!

This and last year's Tink designs are about the only D&B runDisney ones that I've liked. I'm just not sure I can justify the purchase to myself.

Need or want the Dooneys.....that's the bigger question. Honestly, I think if I going spend $$$$ Kate Spade is getting my money.
