**OFFICIAL THREAD**Survivor: Panama

CNN.com has the following information about the show:

NEW YORK (AP) -- The next cast of CBS' "Survivor" will include a retired astronaut who flew in space three times, twice on the space shuttle Discovery.

The 12th version of the popular game, this time set in Panama, will feature tribes briefly separated by age and an exile where a contestant can profit after stomaching some time alone.

Dan Barry, a 52-year-old ex-astronaut from South Hadley, Massachusetts, is among the 16 cast members. Barry last flew in space in 2001, and he has four space walks to his name. A yoga instructor, nurse, engineer, lawyer, social worker and logging sports performer are among his competitors.

On "Survivor: Panama -- Exile Island," at least one cast member each episode will be sent alone to a separate island miles from the others. Hidden on the island, however, will be an immunity idol.

The next "Survivor" edition begins on CBS February 2.

Now see, I did not want to know where it was going to be set until it aired! ;) (I'm winking people, joke, joke!)

See, now I don't think they'll preview the splitting of the tribes. I think they will advertise something along a "tribe division never done before."

To me the way they split the tribes is pivitol in the whole scheme of things.

CBS is running ads saying that there will be four tribes and how they will be split. So it's not a spolier. I have been watching reruns of the other Survivor shows on OLN and at least twice during the hour they show the ad talking about the tribes.

This is what it says on the OFFICIAL CBS web site:

MEET THE NEW SURVIVORS
Stranded on an island off the coast of Panama, 16 strangers must live together and compete for the million-dollar prize. This time, the castaways will begin their competition as four tribes: older men, older women, younger men and younger women. At least one Survivor each week will be banished to a separate island miles away from camp. How will this change the game? Who will outwit, outplay, and outlast all others? Don’t miss a single episode of SURVIVOR: PANAMA--EXILE ISLAND, premiering Thursday, February 2 at 8 pm ET/PT, only on CBS.

American Idol and Survivor. Ahh...life is good.

I heard that we'll see the 1st show after the Superbowl, then we'll have to wait until after the Olympics (about 15 days) for the next. Anyone else here this?

If this is so, I wish they'd just wait until after the Olympics to start the whole thing. There are so many people and so much going on in 1st shows, I'll have forgotten most of it by the 2nd shows airing.

Ugh. No, I hadn't heard this. Come one, not everyone watches the Olympics. Give us Survivior!!!!!! Whatever happened to a little healthy competition between the networks. :rotfl:

I think splitting the tribes is just grasping at straws to improve the show. Each season has gotten more and more boring and disappointing. Hopefully they will have some people on the show that actually try to survive off the land instead of waiting for the next food challenge. I think they should take the food challenges away anyway.

I completely agree with you ! I want to see them survive without the food, I want to see them suffer :hyper: :rotfl:

I am so sad- my friend and I would always get together on Thursdays for our "TV night" to watch Survivor. But this semester I have a night class on Thursdays, so we won't be able to watch it together anymore! It was so fun because we would get so into the challenges and would be screaming and cheering. Guess I'm going to have to record them. :worried:

This makes no sense. February 2nd is the Thursday BEFORE the Superbowl. Survivor does not premiere on SB Sunday anymore. NBC is carrying the the Olympics....CBS would carry it's regular schedule.

So, don't wait for the Super Bowl to watch Survivor...you will miss the 1st episode. :teeth:

How in the world did I miss this thread.

OH I CAN'T WAIT FOR IT TO START!!!!
:yay:

I'm excited as well! I love reality tv. I'm happy that one of the reality shows I watch is actually starting up before the olympics instead of waiting until the last day and then starting up like the apprentice and amazing race are doing.

So sad - I'll miss the first night! :sad1: DH and I have to go to a meeting that night. We've had a tradition of doing a "Survivor Kick-Off" party with some neighbors each season, complete with some authentic food from the area where Survivor is taking place that season.Fortunately, one of our neighbors has promised to tape it while she's watching it, and even better, she's promised not to tell us anything about it until after we've watched the tape! :thumbsup2 I told DH this is a good argument for Tivo... especially because we've also started watching Beauty and the Geek on Thursday nights. No way I want to miss Survivor for B&G, but it's awfully funny to watch B&G together.

thursday nights are so hard on me now!
8pm - Survivor
9pm - CSI, The O.C, Beauty and the Geek.

thank god for 2 Tivos!

So excited about Survivor. A little bummed it's in Panama AGAIN! Hopefully the exile island thing will be exciting enough to make up for it.

Just saw an ad on CBS, it was talking about exile island. It sounds like the Survivors will want to be on the island, because it will have a way for them to win the game if they play the clue just right (and if they can find it).

Sounds intresting! I wonder what it is. Do we think it will be like the Idol from Guatamala? I think it will, I just hope its a little better than that.

I am very very excited!!! I am thinking about starting up a mom group to watch it..... I need to make signs up ASAP... anyone have any clip art I could use?? :rotfl2:
