Official Thread For Upcoming Eastern Canadian Cruises

Funny you should say that - watching it now.

I recorded it and we watched it this morning. My daughter (11) phased in and out so we'll probably watch it a couple more times.

I've set the DVR up to record several shows over the next week or so..

Just remeber, the Museum in Halifax isn't just a "Titanic" Museum, it has lots of other things and is a Museum of Maritime History.

Yes. I'm looking forward to the rest, but it's not on my daughter's radar. :rotfl:

We'd also like to go out to Fairview but with a guide of sorts to give us the history. I've booked the Peggy's Cove/Titanic excursion, but wouldn't mind skipping Peggy's Cove. Any ideas from anyone? I was considering Gray Line..

Just thought I'd share. I called to check with Disney about which night was the Semi Formal Night on the 5-night Canadian Cruises. Night 2 (Monday for the July 15th) is Semi Formal Night and Night 4 (Wed) is Pirate Night. Of course all is subject to change but that would mean that the rotation nights would be 1, 3 and 5.

Thanks for the great info. Do any of you know how long it takes to go through the museum?

Oh is it not true, that some DNA testing linked two of the unknowns buried in Halifax as Mother and Son recently, or is that just urban legend?

Does anyone know whether the ship's clock will change to Atlantic time when in Nova Scotia waters? Are times for docking, departure, and excursions Atlantic or Eastern time?

I would assume it is going to be local time as that is the time Disney uses on their other ships/itenaries. They will tell you on your navigator that you need to set your clock forward or back on appropriate days.

I have also looked at both ports schedules and the magic's schedule matches up with the port schedule.

Several people have been wondering about how much time they could allocate to the museum if they wanted to tour Halifax themeselves. I e-mailed the museum, and this is their response:
Thank you for your e-mail and also for suggesting your friends stop
by for a visit while they are in Halifax.

During the high season, we find that around two hours is an average
time for folks to enjoy the site. We have a number of videos that are
available in various exhibits, two of which have small theatres set up
for viewing. These are the presentations in the Halifax Explosion exhibit,
which is 17 minutes long and the theatre on the second floor, which
shows a double-bill. The first film is on Titanic and Halifax and the other
is a short documentary on underwater archaeology at Louisbourg. Each
of these films lasts about fifteen minutes.

The main exhibits include the Halifax Explosion, the Canadian Navy, the
sinking of RMS Titanic and Nova Scotia's Shipwrecks. We also have a
large collection of small craft, on display in both the Museum and also
in our boatshed.

We also have a 20 minute film that is not included in the admission. It
is a 3D presentation called Dive to the Titanic, produced by Dr. Joseph
MacInnes, who has taken part in a number of dives to the wreck site.
The film costs $3.85 per person. and showings take place at the top
of each hour.

During the summer season, our Museum ship, CSS Acadia is also open
for viewing. She is a retired hydrographic research vessel, built in 1913
in England and had a 56 year career, during which she conducted tests
and surveys from the south shore of Nova Scotia to the Arctic circle.

Our interpretive staff offer a variety of programs and tours, which are
usually scheduled for 11:00, 1:00 and 3:00. These are updated daily
and can be found on the dry erase board at the main admissions desk.

Hope this helps.

Helps a lot - thank you:flower3:! Makes me even more excited to visit the museum, too!

Just saw these on the DCL website. Click here, then on "New York" and "Presale Merchandise" Voila!

http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/planning-center/gifts-and-amenities/#New York Pre-sale Merchandise

N-I-C-E!!!!!!:thumbsup2
It says "Available for the 6/10/2012 sailing only" - that can't mean they will ONLY be available on this sailing, right:confused3? Assume they mean, "Available starting on the 6/10/2012 sailing...". Thoughts?

I saw those things too and got excited until I saw the date. I think it is only available on that sailing because it is the maiden voyage to that port.

They did this for the fantasy mv as well. You could pre-order mv and inaugural mercy and it was in your cabin. All the items were in the shop as well, with the inaugural stuff there for the year. I would bet this merchandise will be in the shops for all the Canada sailings.

Yeah I was hoping that! I am also hoping that they have the design on the kids t-shirt in adult size

I saw the merchandise, too and really hope to get a long sleeve tshirt! I called DCL and they said I couldn't order it because I'm not on that sailing :(

I hope they have at least something similar on the ship!!

Two hours seems reasonable. I think I've read about excursions that go to the museum but do you know how far the museum is from the port? Can I easily get a taxi (if I choose not to do an excursion?)

Thanks!
