Me too- can't wait! Definitely packing warm layers. It's getting me really excited about the trip hearing everyones reports and tips!

We got lobster rolls at a fish store about 2 blocks from the ship terminal. Then we took a DCL excursion, a bus tour of Halifax.

Did you enjoy that excursion?

Yes, we enjoyed the excursion. We booked the City Tour of Halifax just after getting off the ship in the early afternoon. We saw the Public Gardens, the Citadel, the harbor, historic houses, etc. The tour guide was excellent!

Just wondering if anyone partcipated in the Photogrpahy excursion Disney is offering?

We are also back from the 7/8/12 cruise. Had a fantastic time! We did the Peggy's Cove and Hop-on-Hop-off bus combo in Halifax. Loved Peggy's Cove. Could've enjoyed more time there, but it was adequate. Almost an hour, but it was so beautiful...

The HOHO bus was kind of a bust. Not DCL's fault, but with traffic and construction in the area, we only used it to visit 2 stops, the cathedral and the Citadel. When we got to the Citadel a bit after 3pm, the guide told us she didn't think we'd make it back in time if we got off and waited for the next bus, as they were running around 45-50 minutes between buses instead of the usual 20. We elected to get off anyway and then just walked back. Could've just walked the city without paying for the bus and done just as well if not better, but hard to know that ahead of time.

We really enjoyed visiting the old town cemetary across from the cathedral. There were tour guides there giving free tours. It made it very interesting to learn some of the history. Definitely could've spent more time shopping and exploring, but had a great visit.

In Saint John, we booked a private van tour with Freedom Tours. We shared the van with another disboards family, so that worked out great. Mike, our tour guide, was fantastic and very flexible. We took a quick city tour, then visited the reversing falls from both sides of the bridge. Then it was off on the scenic bay of Fundy highway to visit St. Martin and the sea caves. We stopped at several points along the way to take photos. St. Martin and the sea caves were huge highlights. We spent a couple of hours there total and had lunch at the seafood place there on the beach. Also stopped at the covered bridge and lighthouse, and got a photo stop along the route that overlooked one of the flowerpot rock formations like what you see at Hopewell Rocks. We made a second visit to the reversing falls (which, unfortunately, was not cooperating by reversing until after the ship left) and then got dropped off near the port to do some shopping. Great trip. Definitely recommend, particularly for those with kids that could spend all day exploring the sea caves.

I thought the food was really good. We had a good team of servers, though the assistant server was new. He did a good job though, and seemed to much happier on DCL than on "the other cruise line" he used to work for, lol. Our stateroom hostess was great. Shows were great, as usual. Plenty of characters, though no Ariel onboard. Mickey in his yellow fisherman suit and Uncle Sam outfit, and Minnie as Statue of Liberty and Princess Minnie were highlights. Did the Tea with Alice on the first sea day. They did a second one on the second sea day, I believe. We were initially waitlisted for tickets, but got them with no problem.

Happy to try to answer questions!

Returned Saturday from our first Disney cruise.....we loved it!!

We went to towel folding, origami butterfly making and two of the chef demonstrations. All things I might not have done if I was compelled to be on deck in the warm sun!!

Though I still wish they would lose the blue bedspreads! They took them off at night and the room looked better!!

Can't wait for our next Disney cruise!!

Welcome Home Taximom!! Can't believe we are both "done"! Our first Sea Day was also very overcast and windy and we also felt like it gave us the chance to do a lot of activities that we might have otherwise been too busy (sunning/swimming) for! And those blue bedspreads - yeeks:crazy2:! The were really not the highlight of the stateroom decor! Oh well!

The funny thing about the bedspreads is that I was looking at pics on my daughter's camera and there was a close up of the bedspread! I asked if she took it by accident and she replied no....just wanted to remember what everything looked like! Kids are funny!!

Btw I sent you a PM!

:flower3: Hello,

I live about 2 hours from Halifax. We drove down to get a peek at the Magic yesterday!!! It looked amazing. We saw alot of tourists in the area. My kids were excited to see the ship!!!! Adds to the excitment of goung on the Dream in Oct!!!!! I hope everyone enjoyed their visit!!!!! :yay:

PS Maybe we passed some of you walking! :)

Trying to read through the tread but can't find anyone who says they saw whales on either of the nature and whale watching tours. Did anyone see whales? Thanks.

We did the Bay of Fundy Whale and Wildlife Watching excursion out of St John. It was a bus ride to St. Andrew (beautiful little town) and then we boarded a catamaran. We saw harbor and gray seals, porpoises, bald eagles, some little puffins and some Minke whales (I was hoping for a Fin whale but no luck). It was pretty cool, a young whale passed right in front of the bow where we were standing!! :yay:

The one thing I like about the Whale watching tours is the guides work together. If one spots a pod he will let nearby tours know, whether they are competition or not. It increases the chances of seeing a whale.

We are heading on the 9/12 cruise out of NY :goodvibes\

It will be myself, DH, DD-11 and DD-7. Looking to show them the sites up there, but on a budget.

Can anyone recommend a less expensive excursion that really shows off the beauty of the ports? I saw the tour trolleys and double decker bus tours. My kids would like that, I think.

Has anyone been on either of those? They are not very expensive, but I don't want to book it if they are not worth it.

Thanks!!
