Official thread for the 2010 Princess 1/2 Marathon & 5k- REGSITRATION IS OPEN!

Dang, now y'all have me thinking about decorating my window at POR! I've never done this. Any window decoration ideas? (On the cheap?)

First, thanks to those that posted about characters along the 5K race-DD was going to go for time, but I think she will go for how many photo ops she can get.
Second, Princess Bmoney, there is a link on the Disney Endurance site to help spectators get around to see the race. My DD is planning on riding the bus (we are at AS Movies) to Epcot and take the monorail to MK and catch me along Main Street and then monorail back to Epcot and see me at the finish. Another thing to consider is how fast you plan to run the race-your friends and family can only move so fast around the World. Does anyone else have plans for spectators?

Last year my Dh waited to see me off at the start, then at TTC, GF and back to the finish line just as I crossed. I saw him running through the car park hedding towards the finish line with Dd in her stroller and my Sd flying along.:lmao:

Is anyone able to open the page for runner tracking? I can see the link but when I click on it, nothing happens. Wondering if it was just me.

Please be carefull if you are going to decorate you hotel room windows, its just that last year Disney got fed up with it and had mousekeeping clean them off every day and charged you $25 for this service, along with a note saying that you are not allowed to do it.

My DH is doing the same thing! He is coming with us to the start, grabbing the monorail to either MK or the Poly, and then monorailing back to catch us at the end! My running partner's DH and DDs will meet us at the finish, too.

We plan to do the race in anywhere between 2:45 and 3:00, so he should have plenty of time. He'll have to get to MK quickly if he wants a good spot, but should have no trouble beating us there.

Oh, good to know! I've never done this before. Maybe I'll make signs for our doors? How do they feel about that? I'm thinking just 8.5x11" laminated paper signs.

They had a problem with people who went OTT and sprayed stuff on the windows that did not clean it off when they left, so that had a clamp down.
I'm sure if its low key and just some signs in the windows they will be fine, just remember to clean it up when you leave..........but I know a Wisher would do that anyway!!!!!!!

No, it is not just you...

I was showing my secretary how to track me from the site and we couldn't get it to open. I just assumed it wouldn't work until race day.

I have opened and registered on the tracking site a couple of days ago...actually it was Wednesday (24). I put in two cell 3's and one email address and got confirmation on them within seconds.

Hi, everyone. Just checking in. All three of my boys have been sick with eye and ear infections this week so things have been fun at my house :) but the skies have cleared and I am getting excited about next weekend! I haven't been able to train as much as I would have liked to but at the end of the day my family obligations come first. I know I will finish and I will do my best, and that is all I can do right now!!

See everyone soon! Let's have a great week!

Love the car magnets! Last year my friends and I chalk markered our car we went in... This year my sister and I will be at the starting line at 4am, the rest of ouy group is sleeping in a little. So since my bf is taking his M5 and my mom is taking her car and they're both clean freaks we're going to decorate them EARLY when we leave the hotel! SO it'll be a surprise for them when they are about to leave since they're not leaving with me at 3:30am! And they won't have time to clean them off! haha! So another question, if they have admission can they go inside the park to watch us run through Magic Kingdom? Or is that only chear squad? Does it count as admission to go in and see us run then? Cause they're not going to have park hopper tickets...

I'm pretty certain you can get into the MK without a ticket. Anyone else know for certain-I feel about 99 percent sure no ticket is needed.

As long as the MK is not open either normal or EMH then you can get in without a ticket.

We are trying to figure out spectators as well. Last year I ran and this year my DH is going to join me. My mom and two DDs (5 & 7) would like to see us run but don't want to leave at 6am. I think they are going to try to see us towards the finish. If I remember correctly the actual finish line is pretty crowded but the course goes through the Epcot parking lot at the end before you run into (and then quickly out of Epcot). I think they are going to see if they can catch up with us there.

I am interested in any recommendations.

Since we're so close to the race, I thought I would show you all the lovely tutu's (err...Princess skirts) my friend and I will be running in. Yes, we are insane, but we're probably only going to do this once so we might as well go big! DH is also prepared for the pass off in the event is really does drive me nuts!

(Disclaimer: please excuse all of the other stuff in the room. It has become our bike storage and packing headquarters!)

I picked Belle as my princess, so I will be wearing the yellow, and my friend, who picked Ariel will be wearing pink. (We thought red would be a bit much!)

I love it!!!! I did the run last year and I loved seeing everyone dressed up. I can't wait until next weekend!!!!

Ok, I know this is a silly question, but how many of y'all plan on taking something to drink along with you during the race? My DH has spoiled me during training as I get really thirsty, and has always carried my drink for me. I just cannot run with something in my hand...it messes me up. So I was thinking about not running with anything, but am afraid I'll be too thirsty not to.

You can carry something with you if it makes you feel more comfortable, but I was very pleased last year with the number of water stops the offered. The only real big gap is between mile 4 and 6.
Good luck. ANd just remember....just keep running, just keep running....whenever I think of slowing down I think of Dory telling me to just keep running, just keep running.... :cheer2:
