Hi, everyone. I'm just checking in. It has been hard for me to train consistently the last few weeks. This is my husband's busy time at work and he has been getting home at 10 or 11pm at night. That has really put a crimp in my nighttime running plans, especially since my baby wakes up to breastfeed around that time every night. Not to mention, I don't want to go outside and run at that time. I just don't feel safe.
During the day I am alone with my baby in the morning--and lots of grad school homework--before my 3yo and 4 yo come home from preschool at noon for the rest of the afternoon and night.
Yes, I know, excuses, excuses.

I didn't go my 8 miles this weekend and I've been freaking out about it. So today I was forced to embrace... BOB, my double jogging stroller.

I have used it on occasion for shorter training runs but not for a long run. But what else can I do at this point? So I took it out with my baby and did 6 miles at a 12:00 pace. I'm about a minute slower when I'm alone but it really isn't about the time for me at this point. I just have to get out there and get the miles in.
My baby really enjoyed it (okay, I went at naptime and he slept the whole time, waking briefly when an army of fire engines sped past us at mile 3) and it went much better than I thought it might. I have a love/hate relationship with BOB. It pushes smoothly but it is as wide as a bus on the sidewalk, and my DS is 17 lbs and Bob is 35-40 lbs. But I figure I must get extra training benefits from having to push that thing around while running. I wanted to do the full 8 but ran out of time at 6, and I'm happy with that for now.
So, it looks like it will be me and BOB for the next 5 weeks. I have to imagine how much faster I will be able to run when I'm alone again!
Keep up the good work, everyone!
