Official thread for the 2010 Princess 1/2 Marathon & 5k- REGSITRATION IS OPEN!

Ok, dumb question i am sure, but how does the mail in form save you $ ?

Active charges about $8+ to reg online. Mail in you don't pay those fees.

If are thinking about running it yearly, doing online is best - you will save 10 next year so it does all equal out in the end.

This is my first year doing the 1/2 ............if you do the mail in application can you still order the pin?

Just my thought........:goodvibes

hi, I'm new, just found this board when I was searching for the Princess 1/2 marathon information. I saw in the registration there was a pin option. What do these normally look like?

I just ran my first full marathon in San Diego and am looking forward to a the Disney Princess Half!

Hi there! If no one else does it before, i can take a pic of the pin from last year when i get home later! It was nice! Congrats on your first full!! I honestly have no desire for that.. :rotfl: 13.1 is plenty for me. :thumbsup2 So, people who do the full have my definate respect.

Hey everybody! I just officially registered for the Princess 1/2! This is my first ever running ANYTHING. I'm so excited but scared to death. The whole idea of the sweepers is scary! I don't want to get caught and lugged to the finish line!

My husband is running with me...b/c he loves me...even though he is not so jazzed to be running in what he calls "A pink race"...:rotfl: I told him he doesn't have to wear a tiara. There is a co-ed division so I can't imagine that he will be the only prince on the course!

I'm using the Jeff Galloway "run-walk-run" training program. It seems doable...a little daunting but I think we can do it.

anyhow, I wanted to throw my name in here. I'm very excited for my first 1/2 marathon! princess:

Has anyone heard what the participating resorts are going to be? I thought they were supposed to announce them in June.

Thanks!

I am anxious to know too.

wondering if I can get an opionion. I decided to turn the half into a weeks holiday with my 3 and 5 yr old for a week. I am worried about vacationing leading up to the half as I will not be able to get out to jog that week but am unsure if one week would be an issue.

If we stay a week after the half I am afraid I will be half dead and unable to tour the parks due to blisters etc?
I have never run/walked a race before. Any thoughts?
I ran/walked 9 km today so I am slowly climbing with my distance

I have called Disney twice and everytime I was told, they will be up sometime this month. I am a DVC member so I just booked WL, it is something and worse case it is a cheaper taxi fee if one of the hotels is the Poly like it was last year to get to the race :)

I'm just wondering if anyone might have any idea as to how quickly the princess half fills up?

The Donald filled up so quickly...and due to hesitation on my "team captain's" end we were late and missed the deadline. :headache:I do NOT want this to happen again! I am in charge of my own team (me and the husband!) and I'm feeling like I need to register right this second so I won't miss out. My overly practical ;) husband thinks we should not register until we know which resorts are hosting so we can make hard and fast plans.

does anyone remember when registration closed last year? Do most people wait until it gets a bit closer to register?

I'm chomping at the bit here!:lmao:I will NOT miss out on my Princess Medal!

princess:

thanks!!!

:stitch:'Ohana Monday Mixer :stitch:

This one is JenG's very good question to the cousins, excerpted, about the difference between building a base and training for a race. The mixer starts here on the 'Ohana thread.

What is the difference between maintaining or building a base and training for a race? I've only been running for a year and I've either been taking time off running or training for a race. What is just building a base?

How is your approach (mental or otherwise) and exercise routine different when building your base versus training? Do you run less? Do different exercises? Approach the run differently psychologically?

Last year the Princess really didn't fill up. They called it filled up at 7500, but from my understanding it could have actually gone to ten. But that was the first year of the race, so this year could be different. Also, if it really means so much to you, you might want to go ahead and enter. After all, if you're there for the race itself, who care where you're staying. KWIM? :goodvibes

See that was MY argument...I don't care if I'm in a tent at Fort Wilderness...well maybe I'd care about being in a tent...but other than that I really don't care where we stay.

It's my darling Mr. Type A husband that is struggling with "not knowing" all the details. Gotta love him... *sigh*

I think I'm going to have to enter and then tell him AFTER...b/c that entrance fee is not refundable. Guess there will be no choice at that point.

;)

If you train/prepare properly, you will be sore, but should have very little to no blisters or anything that would stop you from enjoying a WDW vacation after the race.
I did the Princess 1/2 this past year - and yes, it was my first big race , and i trained for several months.. i didn't get any blisters after the race at all.. as long as you use shoes that you are use to running in, and clothes that you have tried to train in a few times before the race day, then you should be ok! We were sore for a couple days after, but nothing big..

This year, my sis is getting married at WDW a couple days after the race, so i may be a lil' slow getting down the aisle! Long as i don't have to go down many stairs! :rotfl:

Heeeeeeyyyy Lauren... I see you are *stalking* this thread... When you gonna register???!!! Didn't you read they are giving us disposable cameras this year?! You can hang out in corral B with us! LOL

I want to do this race again, but might not.
I need to qualify for Boston, if I manage to do it before the Princess then I will, if not I will be hedding off to the Snickers Marathon.
