Official thread for the 2010 Princess 1/2 Marathon & 5k- REGSITRATION IS OPEN!

Weather is taking a break (expecting 60 and sunny today) so I'm going to bag my 8 mile TM run and go out for a 2 hour fast walk. I have some small hills here and don't want to aggravate my IT band. I leave for WDW tomorrow and have two run days (about 5 miles each) planned while there and it is flat running. DH ans DS will be playing lots of golf. I have one day for the MK, so that will give me one walking day.

Treehugnmama You could try Joe's New Balance Outlet for running skirts and they carry some larger sizes. You can find them on the internet-just type in "joe'snewbalanceoutlet". Look under women's apparel, shorts and narrow your search by size.

DIS-OH I ran with my DDs last year-what a great experience-hope you have a fun time.

So i would be willing to split a taxi or split a POR room with other women.(Treehugnmama + Disney-mama+?)

I will be walking at the back of the pack but was able to meet the pace of both previous races.
I just wish i could remember which princess I selected when i mailed in the application last year!

wish i lived in fl

If you are talking about a taxi share from akl YES!!! I think swim-mom and I are sharing a taxi too but I am not sure as I haven't been around in a long time to confirm.

I will also be at the back of the pack...my first race. I did my 7 miles today and I feel like anymore steps and I would have major blister issues. This is the farthest I have ever walked at one time.

Yes, I would like to share a taxi with fellow Princesses! I, too, will be at the back of the pack, so I'm sure we'll get to know each other very well!

Thanks! My girls are 20 and 22...it was the 22 year-old's idea to do this to celebrate her college graduation. Easy choice for her...she ran Cross Country in HS and college! While not a runner, her sister is an athlete, too. I was the only couch potato!

But, signing up gave me the motivation to "get out there and do something!" I am amazed at how easy running 5 miles has become. The actual running of 7.25 on Saturday was easy...the post-run stiffness on Sunday was not so easy! :rotfl:

Beautiful, beautiful weather..I was out for 1 3/4 hours-I was going to walk it all, but my legs said run (love that feeling), so I ran up the hills and flat and walked down the hills. I used my SPIBELT for the first time (got it for Christmas) and love it. My amphipod belt rides up off my hips, but this stayed down. Carried my cell phone and house key. I didn't carry water, but not necessary in an organized race as it is on the course. The SPIBELT will be great for the Princess Half.

DIS-OH My DsD were 18 and 20 last year. The younger one won't run a half any time soon, but she is on spring break again so we will go together and she is doing the 5K on Saturday.

I love my Spibelt too! I'll be wearing it in March to carry id and my inhaler; I love how it doesn't bounce. Carrying things in my pockets drives me nuts!

My wife and I will be at the park that weekend and I was thinking about signing up for the 5k. My real question is about the kid's races though. My son will be almost three so he would be in the 100M race. I was just wondering how the kid's races were organized.

I really can't picture a bunch of toddlers following directions and running. Any information would be great. Thanks for the help.

I'm wondering the same thing. We registered our 3 year old in the 100 meter and our 4 year old in the 200 meter. I'm wondering if the races are at the same time or not? I know we will need to help them get going so it would be great if they are not at exactly the same time.

Okay, you pretty princesses (as Panda Dave calls you). I know you're a pretty cohesive group on your own, and that some of you also belong to WISH teams. But I'm trying to get as much WISHer input as possible....

Anyway, I've started a thread about the WISH teams, whether they should continue, and if so how? I'd love to get your input!

I mailed in my registration months ago and didn't get anything back. Should i have gotten something like a postcard? Is there anywhere to check that I am registered?

Try this link to confirm your entry:

There is a link at the bottom of the page for this.........................

If you have any problems, email the organizers at disneysports@trackshack.com . I had an issue last year with a "missing" entry (someone had entered my BD incorrectly), & they were very quick to fix things.

Hope that helps. Good Luck!!

Oh! BTW, my DW & I will be doing the 5k & I'll be playing Bike Medic for the 1/2. I'm going to be repainting my helmet light Lime Green (not fluorescent), so ya'll should be able to see me!

I didn't realize until today that the Princess races weekend lined up with our already planned Disney trip. My husband and I have been tossing around the idea of doing one of these for a while now, so what better time to try, right? We're going to do the 5K. Neither of us have ever done anything like this before. I'm really excited and a little bit nervous too!

Wow my 3 year old DD will be running too! All I know is that it will be at the sports complex and not the park LOL I keep trying to incurage her to run and keep telling her That her and mommy are gonna run at Disney World WOOOHOO I think what I was gonna do??? was have daddy or me with her at the start and the other at the finish saying come on this way!LOL I just hope no little ones fall and hurt them selves! I will make sure to carry my do you dis bag its black and green so say hi!

In the kids races one parent can run with the child.

Jim I think its great that you are going to paint your helmet, I have often wondered which bike medic you where!!!!

where is the info on the kids races? I have been trying to get dd 5.5 more active and this would be great. Do you know what day it is? I know dh wouldn't be able to do this alone with the kids 3yold and 5 ryold and I am in the half but it would be great if we could coordinate it.

Morning everyone :lovestruc

I did my 6 miles LR for week 3 (abit late, as I had an aupair meeting on Sunday when I normally do my LR) - First I have never EVER run that far...EVER!!!! :rotfl::rotfl:

I have to admit I had my sports beans a bit early beause I got on my TM at 10:15pm ...............boy my GI track is not happy - It screamed all night!!! :surfweb:

Today I start week 4 of my plan, and I am so excited knowing that after doing 6 miles I am half way there - I have a red pen that I keep marking off the days and weeks off my plan I truly feel like I am getting somewhere with my training!!

Friday, I see my Ortho who did my cervial surgery he gave me the green light to start training ---- But I dont think he realized how serious I was

Today starts my college teaching schedule, so from this point out I have to be a planner to get my runs in -- even if that means late night ones ;)

Having taken an extra day off Sunday, I want to stay on track and not miss anything - so I am going to take my 3 mile run tonight and make it a walk, this way I am getting the milage in BUT also giving my poor legs (shins, really) a little break!! I have a 5 miler, a 3 and a LR of 8 to do this week - OMG :eek:

10 days until I go back to Disney for a short, but much needed weekend :woohoo: (but that is also the week my LR is 10miles too, talk about a long day )

Way to go y'all!!!:thumbsup2:woohoo:

I did my 6-miler over the weekend as well!! I was SO proud of myself! Now I'm looking forward to doing 10 miles in the next few weeks, and that's something I didn't think I would EVER say!:upsidedow

DD and I have finally started to recover from the Disney Half marathon (both of us) and the full marathon (just her, the Goofy one!). Last night, we signed up for the Princess. Today, I started training again! Oh, well! at least I don't have to start training over at the very beginning. We had a great time at the half marathon, in the sleet, snow, rain and falling temperatures.... That can't happen again in March, can it???
