Official thread for the 2010 Princess 1/2 Marathon & 5k- REGSITRATION IS OPEN!

Your doing great.:thumbsup2
You still have 2 months to go and you are allready doing 8 miles.
just stick to your training plan and your be at the finish line in no time.

G&GMom If you can 8 then 13 on the course will be fine---there is entertainment to distract you and people cheering (I don't get that doing 8 miles on the TM). You still have 6+ weeks to train.

So, a new medal-should be nice.

Training is going well for me. I have finished my race shirt-it has a Princess Minnie on the back. My DD has decided to do the 5K and made a shirt with a Princess and The Frog theme.

Thanks for the encouragement!
I'm glad I ran my first ever races, a 5K and a 5 miler, last month. Now I can truly understand the waiting in line for the porta-pottiy issues. I can't imagine how bad it will be with a mostly-women race.

This will be the "official thread" for the 2010 Princess 1/2 Marathon and Royal Family 5k.

Hello Everyone :)
I'd like to be able to take part, can someone please tell me how this works I've never done this before. Thanks so much! :)
Amy

Go to Disneysports and sign up for the race.
Then come back here and say that you registered and then your name will get added to the list.

/
I am officially signed up!

:)

So you can add me to the list.

My friend Lisa is going to join me, too, but she doesn't have a user name. :)

Ok, i am going to do a major update to the participant list this weekend, it's a 3 day weekend for me, so i will have time to go thru all the pages of the thread..

If you want to post what hotel you are staying at, we can do that too, and i can add that info to each person's name on the front page. :)

I'm a little sad to hear they are not planning a lot of special "extras" for this race. I love Disney...I, like many of you, am referred to (lovingly, I hope) as a Disney freak. I did this race last year and am doing it again this year because I convinced myself and my family that it's a healthy way to feed my obsession. Although, I will finish well and am in the best shape of my life...this is and might always be (unless I do OTHER Disney races) the only race I'll ever do; location location location :). I also know that Disney is a business and they are always looking to feed the profit coffer. However, with the race almost full and it now being at over 13000 runners...that is $1.5 MILLION in Disney's pockets. It may be a "smaller" race but last year it was only 7000 and we had more options and pretty fun on-course entertainment. I'm hoping that in the next 6 weeks someone will step up and give us a race worthy of a magical place like Disney.

I do agree that MK during EMH on Sunday night wearing our medals will be better than the after-party last year. Although there were highlights, it's not worth $45 above your regular trip costs which for most of us already include park tickets.

Happy Training...

Hi ladies! Just curious if any of you are planning on wearing "princess" attire for the race??

My mom and I are running this together but I live in IL and she is back home in Virginia Beach (where I wish I was :) ) She is have a hard time and I was hoping maybe to find someone that wouldn't mind helping her???? I would be very appreciative!!!

On anouther topic I think about 30 or so pages back I mentioned that My Mom an I were registered and running with you guys we are also going to be staying at SS we will be there on the 3rd - 10! I cant wait!!!

Also how about we bombard the DWWOS with emails to get them to jump on the party wagon! :thumbsup2

Happy training!

You could try emailing Disney sports, but to be honest all you get at a party is EMH with a DJ.

Last yeat at the P&P party they gave out the left over beads from the MK P&P nights and the left over AP lithos......not really worth the $45 price tag???

My friend and I are staying at the Poly.

We arrive Friday night and leave on Monday. :)

How does transportation work from the Poly that morning? Is the monorail running that early?

How many corrals did they have last year? And how were they assigned?

The monorail will be working on race morning and the corrals are based on the time you gave when signing up.

Only women are allowed in the first (fast)corral.

Hi ladies! Just curious if any of you are planning on wearing "princess" attire for the race??

I plan on attaching an Ariel tiara on to a visor and wear a purple top. I wanted to buy a green running skirt, but I can't find one. I may put green sequins on a black skirt...we'll see.
My mom is going to wear a Belle tiara on a visor.

I live in Chesapeake. What does your mom need help with?

As far as the monorail...I've obviously ridden the monorail but haven't stayed at a monorail resort. I know the Poly is the "official" race hotel but we are thinking of moving from the Swan over to the Contemporary - taking into account that we don't have the kids this trip (they aren't interested in staying there), paying for transport from the airport to the Swan and potentially taking cabs to the race start and our husbands also having to take cabs if they want to see us at MK & get there before 7am. The costs might come close to even-ing out and I have always dreamed of staying there.

Would we be able to take the monorail on race morning from there? I guess I'm asking if you know if the whole "loop" will be running and if they will be picking up at the Contemp that early?

Thanks for any info you might have.
