Official Star Wars Weekends 2014 Tips and Tricks

Hi! I had a few (really silly, likely already answered) questions about lining up in the AM before rope drop. My husband and I are going Weekend II and he would like very much to get an autograph from Jeremy Bulloch. We know about getting there early and needing to wait in a specific line for the distribution of fastpasses but herein lies my questions.

If I am not intending to get an autograph, am I still able to wait with my husband in the fastpass line (and just refuse one, obviously, when they distribute them)?

If I am not able to wait with him, is it easy to find someone from the fastpass lines once we're allowed to enter the park or is it a mad throng of folks pushing through at RD?

Do I need a fastpass to be able to take pictures when he meets or is there a place I can stand off to the side to use my camera?

Thank you guys for your patience. ;) I warned you they were rather silly.

I love the Jawa trade idea! I have not heard of this before. I am so excited! Do they just wonder around the park or is there a special place they hang out please?

In the past, they roamed around by the area the Jedi Council posed for pictures.

They only stay in one spot for a short time, then move.

Last year, we were a party of 4. Our friends had arrived the day before us and already had their tickets, but we had to stop at the ticket booth to pick up our Will Call tickets (it was a last-minute trip). So we were separated at RD.

Now, at DHS on SWW they open the turnstiles but then they hold you on the street in front of the hat (the name escapes me) while the Storm Troopers do a funny little pre-show on these little temporary stages that they have up. We were not able to find our friends in the masses of people, and calling was impossible because the pre-show was loud, as were the fans. We weren't able to meet up with them until we were in the JTA signup line.

So, my advice is...don't get separated from your party at RD! Just try to stick together, but have a backup plan on where to meet if you are separated.

You can stay with him and refuse the wristband/fastpass when they are handed out.
The tents are open on all sides so you can just wait behind the gate of the tent and take pictures from there when he meet Jeremy Bulloch.
Someone had posted pictures of the tent set up area but now I can't find it, it's probably about 10 pages back.
here's someone meeting James Arnold Taylor, doesn't really help visually but I just think JAT is the BEST https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6sMoswJuJM
Here's a better video, you would be standing outside the tent, there's a gate. And this is how close you would be to them meeting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNCq3NTglk0

AND....welcome to the DIS!!

Yes, you may wait with him and refuse a FP if that's what you wanted.

With cell phone, I don't think it would be too hard to find each other. Although I don't know what the Mark Hamill weekend crowds will look like.

Do I need a fastpass to be able to take pictures when he meets or is there a place I can stand off to the side to use my camera?

No, you don't need a FP to take pictures. He can also give a camera to the cm in the tent and they will take a picture too.

Thank you guys! :)

I admit I'm probably just a wee bit paranoid about getting run over since I saw the mad dash of people at the Magic Kingdom trying to get to the A&E line and am glad to hear I will be able to keep my human shield around.

I'm thinking of making a video on 'how to get celebrities autograph fp"
The only problem is that I would make it that first Saturday since I can't go the first Friday (ugh stupid adult responsabilities) So I would post it Sunday night so people going the first weekend won't be able to take advantage of it...but what do you guys think?
I was thinking of showing the entire process...getting there, lining up for someone, the wristbands, fast pass and then where to go and what to do.
At least I think it will help for the other weekends plus the years to come if they don't change the system they have now

Also just got confirmation from our "inside source" that the Jawas will also trade during breakfast at Sci Fi

OMG- my kids will LOVE this! Now to go to Party City and buy some inexpensive shiny trinkets!! Thank you so much for posting this! I have always really enjoyed the SW movies, but am surprising myself at how "geeked" out I'm getting over all this SW stuff! LOL I think I might even be more excited than my kids over it all! 38 more days! :cool1:

I was thinking the same thing. Good thing I was planning on packing as many of my cards as I could. The only problem with flying is that I will not be able to bring the whole box of each of my cards. Ugh. Oh well, just have to pack efficiently.

Ash

Packing efficiently, will need to learn that....

Pssst.... submitting my Mara Jade next week... Picking up Jump Suit and Cloak clasp tonight. The only thing holding back is I am waiting for my buckle for the belt to come in. Everything else is done :)

  DOUBLE Psssst... the boyfriend and I have decided on our next costume, ordering has started... New Hope Stormtroopers in the making :) Our rubber E-11 blasters shipped today :)

I am still gonna do an Officer along side the TK, I can sew that together without thinking about it!

Hi! I have a random question. Do the non-Star Wars characters (like Lightning and Mater) still come out during SWW? If so, do they interact?

Well I for one, would be extremely appreciative beyond words for even a photo or two!!

This is a big unknown for us! So any help is a great big thank you.

quick questions:

1) How do we know which line? I'm thinking just ask the person in front of us.

2) also, will they let us into the parking lot at 3:30 am? or do we have to walk over.

3) what are people getting signed? I have a collection of action figures. Bad idea?

1) There is a sing with the name and picture of the actor/actress. We always just double check with the last person in line "are you waiting for Ray Park?" sort of thing
2) The parking lot at DHS is open 24/7 for 3rd shift CM. there will not be anyone at the booth so you can park for free, up until about 6am
3) Anything...action figures, posters, shirts, lighsabers, movies I have an Anniversary SW calendar from years ago that I have been filling up with signatures.remember that it's only one aurograph per person/fp

here is a video I took last year. the sound was blocked by youtube because you can hear sw music, but it shows you the setup of the autograph lines https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrBgyive7I4

All the shows inside the Premiere Theater are aprox. 30 minutes

Thanks! If Visit to the Maul winds up being at 5:00 per last year's schedule, I just wanted to make sure we had enough time to get to the ToT by 6:10 when our FP+ window ends. I think we will as long as we're walking out by 5:45 or so.

I think they allow you to be 10 minutes late to your fp time
If you walk fast you can make it in 10 minutes from Premiere Theater to ToT
