Official Star Wars Weekends 2014 Tips and Tricks

Then you'll wonder who darth maul is. My 10-year-old son has always liked episode 1. I think we are probably too hard on it.

oh no! we have seen them all. DD stared Darth Maul down last year!

So is anyone interested in going to the special Rebels Rendezvous event?

I'm not interested in the LE or vinylmation. For $250 I could probably buy all the different Her Universe merchandise. However, it's something new that I might consider.

I'm hoping many ebayers and resellers take advantage and go to this event, it might help with the crazy merchandise lines on Friday.

Unless the ebayers and sellers get a massive discount on merchandise, I can't imagine it would be profitable to go? Or do they mark it up that much higher? I know if I go, I wouldn't be buying much after already spending $250 to get in.

Oh boy, my husband and son would love that messenger bag. I hope they'll have something similar available when we're there for SWW in June.

The fine print seemed to indicate there would be no discounts so I don't know of that means all merch is full price only or don't hold your breath for any entrance ticket discounts.

$250 a ridiculous money grab from Disney. It is a $250 messenger bag, tumbler, hat, pin and lanyard. Which isn't worth anywhere near that entry price. Disney is obviously looking for those that are willing to spend big bucks to avoid dealing with the general public. It's not an event I'd want to go to alone and that's $500 for just 2people, well into the realm of insanity IMO.

I'd like more detail on the characters and more that it mentions on the website. If there is a decent amount of characters and things to do,in there, it could be more than worth the $250 to me. Ds doesn't deal well with heat. To be able to cross off a bunch of characters from the start and see them in air conditioning would make it worth it for us. It's from what, 10 to 5? What else will there be to do there in the tent is my question?

Shop ;)

Sure it's a money grab, but people will buy it. Star Wars fans are nuts when it comes to collectibles. I can say that, because I'm a Star Wars fan. ;)

Seriously, though, I've seen exclusives from Celebrations on sale at other cons for ridiculous mark-ups. Kind of sad, but that's the way these things work. Thankfully I just want Her Universe t-shirts. :)

I think of it less as a money grab and more of a deterrent to the ebayers. There must be so many fans that would love to get in and get hold of the limited edition stuff but are beat to it by the 'professionals'. Not to mention that if I were Disney I would want to sell my special stuff to the *fans*, not just to people selling on for profit. So maybe the $250 will deter people who only buy to sell. I wouldn't pay it personally, but I'm no superfan :)

There won't be any discount other than the regular ap, cm discounts. But ebayers will mark everything up, plus they'll sell the messenger bag, tumbler and all other goodies...

So I know I'm late to the game so to speak, BUT we may actually be there for the last Star Wars weekend... :-). Still trying to decide if we'll stick to July, move up to the 4th, or move to June...hmmm...

Hi all! This thread has been so helpful this weekend as DH decided on Friday that because of our AP we would go down to WDW for my birthday over a SWW! :-) I'm beyond thrilled to finally experience it! I have read through this entire thread and have found so much information to help us plan our days there. We are planning to do an early morning until after lunch on one day and then the evening with fireworks on another day - DD3 would never make it through it all in one day. Here's my question - Are the SW characters that are around the park difficult to meet? Are there long lines? Should we plan to try to meet them during our morning visit or will we be able to meet them on the evening one as well? We were thinking of doing a TS meal either for lunch on the morning day or for dinner on the evening day... but don't want that to eat up our time if we should be out and about!

Thanks so much! :-)

YAY :cheer2: for celebrating your b-day at SWW!!
If you look on the link from Kenny the Pirate on the first post of this thread you will find a list of the characters and how popular they are.
They are not hard to find but depending on who you want to meet you might have to make a plan and stick to it as much as possible.
For example, the most popular characters are Chewbacca, Darth Vader and the Disney 4 dressed in SW attire.
I always say to go first thing in the morning for the Disney4 because their line is in the sun all day and the lines just grows and grows. Be aware that the rotate thru out the day so you might start the line when Jedi Mickey is meeting and get to the front and find that they switched to Leia Minnie (again see Kenny's site for approx. times that the come out)
Chewbacca would be my second stop and then Vader.
The other characters althought popular would have a shorter line and the ones inside the merchandise tent (Luke, Leia and the Droids) is long but it's inside in A/C.
The more popular characters could take anywhere from 45m to an hour depending on the time of day that's why being there at rope drop is essential if you want to meet the more popular ones.
As for TS ADR I don't make any because they do eat up a lot of time but I know people that need to sit down for an hour just to relax and unwind to keep going so that's totally up to you and your family
Please ask away, I love planning for this event (as you can see ;) )

Thank you SO much for your quick reply! I'm such a planner so it is "last minute" for me to just start planning now for SWW and for F&G all in the same trip! :-) We will plan to be there well-before rope drop on our morning day and attempt to meet the Disney4 right away. I can't believe I didn't check KennythePirate about this! Thanks for mentioning that! I think we'll skip the ADR's for lunch on our morning day... maybe do a dinner but I really hate for it to eat up our time on such a short trip! Thanks again!

Hey everyone

We are going to be at SWW on the afternoon/evening of Saturday June 7th (mainly for the fireworks) and the morning of Sunday June 8th (will be there prior to rope drop)

I'm not normally a huge one for character meets but I would love to get some photos with the SW characters and Disney characters is SW attire

I appreciate I can't do everything so I am making the following greets my priority and would welcome your advice of the best order in which to do this

1. Chewbacca
2. Donald (I know it's hard to be specific as the Disney characters rotate but the Duck is my number 1 :))
3. Chip n Dale Ewoks
4. Darth
5. R2D2
6. C3PO

What do you think? Is this achievable?

Is there any possibility of striking a couple from the list on Saturday before the fireworks?

Love to hear your thoughts :)
