Official Star Wars Half Marathon Thread...Jan 15-18th, 2015!!

Hey Sean, as of right now I have Darth Vader and Boba Fett sta dri shirts for the 10k and 1/2 (might come up with more accessories) and a rebel pilot shirt for the 5k and DDs kids race. You come up with yours yet, has donations and fan costume voting begun?
I'm just doing tshirts so far. I have a "Hoth High School" one and a "Republic Rebels" one. Grace has an Ahsoka one and a Leia one.

I am working on the donor page and such

Hailee, I'm sure will want to do something Leia, as of right now all she has is a disco storm troopers shirt. Let's us know when the donor page is up.

Which offsite hotels are you all staying at? The onsite are way out of my budget, so I'm looking at the offsite walking distance hotels. The only other time I went to Disneyland was with my dh for a work trip, so the hotel was chosen for us and I don't know anything about any of the options. I have seen mentions of the HoJo and Annabella. Any other recommendations?

Can you just use them for park tickets?

As PP said you sure can. We're doing this for Avengers actually.

You've probably read my Hojo's info already. Just wanted to add that lots of runners seem to stay at the Best Western Stovalls Inn. I stayed there as a kid but not recently but it gets good reviews and its super close to where the corrals are for DL Half and Tink Half. Over on Harbor I've stayed at BW Park Place Inn and also Desert Inn and Suites. Both are a few minutes shorter walk than the Hojos, right across the street from the crosswalk into shuttle bus drop off area. We had good experiences at both and would stay at either again if the price was right or Hojo's was full. Of these four hotels, Hojo's has free parking but no breakfast. The others all charge for parking but have breakfast.

I booked a Marriot which claims to be across the street from the entrance to DL. However I don't know where that relates to the start of the race. I think the race starts outside one of their own hotels.

If it's the Fairfield, then you are close to the entrance and the main crosswalk on Harbor to the parks. To get to the race, if it's like the others and start on DL Drive, you'll just walk through DTD to the staging area from there. Not that long of a walk at all.

I booked the Desert inn & Suites for the Star Wars 1/2. It is right across the street from the Esplanade which made for a short walk back to the hotel after the race and back to the parks after cleaning up.

I found my long sleeve black tech shirt this morning by accident so it's looking like Luke Skywalker will be one of my costumes.

Luke Skywalker AFTER he became a Jedi. So you will need a green lightsaber then. Just sayin'

Well, if I go for the few scenes in ROTJ where either R2 is hiding the lightsaber, Vader is examining it, or after Luke throws it to the side right before Palpatine tries to fry him with Force Lightning then technically, I won't need a lightsaber.

Lol. Yes a Star Wars fan indeed.

I want to run with a light sabre just cause. However, I want to dress as C3po and I do not think that robot ever held a lightsabre in his life. On top of that...I might wack someone with it.

Update to the other Acclaim users, I received my confirmation for Rebel Challenge today so y'all should as well, haven't gotten one for the 5k yet.

Edit: just got on confirmation for the 5k

Ack! That makes me even more antsy to get out there and run. I swear my shoes are whispering to me. But my incision says "sit down moron"! I'm so glad I'm off work one more day, now I can stalk my email and watch for it!
Of course, I'll be a nutter if it's not here today and stalking it tomorrow.

I got my Rebel Challenge confirmation too, but have no idea how I join the group.

How will I find my bib number, print out my waiver form et all when that time comes? When I try to log into Active.com, it says I'm not allowed to view the group. Or am I missing something? This is my first time doing runDisney through a travel agent.

If I recall the dates correctly, you will not be assigned a bib or see it until around mid November. I know in the marathon weekend in January they came out around that time and that is when you can print them...
So I am guessing since SW is at the same time more or less, you wont get your bib/coral assignment till then.

Viewing/accessing/printing your waiver is exactly the same as if you registered on your own.
•Approximately 5 to 8 weeks before the race, the waivers will be available via a link posted by runDisney.
•Enter in your name and date of birth so the system can find you.
•Click on the race waiver(s) you need.
•Print.
•Sign.
•Bring with you to the Expo. (If you don't have the ability to print, there will be stations to print your waiver at packet pick-up)

At the bottom of the waiver you will find your name, bib number, shirt size and I think age at race time.

Once people start posting their bib numbers, some statistically gifted WISHers estimate corrals. Lately runDisney has been taking some of the fun of that away by posting corral placement shortly after the waivers have been released.

It's still fun. Now those statistically gifted folks try to reverse engineer the logic behind how rD placed people into corrals.

Sleepless Knight I signed up for the half with Acclaim and I understand your question, it's sort of weird to get a confirmation email but not be able to view the details in the link. Because I'm strange and need to know why some things are the way they are to accept them I emailed Active. I'll let you know what I hear back.
But YAY for having gotten the confirmation email from Active that I'm in! :cool1:

5 more days until my post op appointment. Hoping he's gives me the thumbs up to run again. I gotta get training!
