Official Star Wars Half Marathon Thread...Jan 15-18th, 2015!!

Go figure, I had no idea any travel companies had spots available. Glad some of you were able to get in that way, no muss no fuss!

Got in. Woooooo hoo! Now to train like I an being chased by Darth Vader. I never thought I would be do excited to run my keister off!
Reminds me of a post on the 2012 Wine & Dine thread a year and a half ago. Somebody wanted stromtroopers to be walking with the balloon ladies to let you know if you were on pace. If there was ever a race that needed that, it's definitely this one.

What a great idea! I'd love to get a group to dress up as storm troopers & Darth Vader, run just in front of the balloon ladies, and carry speakers blaring the Imperial March. We won't be at the Star Wars race, but maybe we can pull it off during WDW marathon weekend.

That is so cruel & funny!

Hopefully I never see the balloon ladies though!

Well six hours from right now I will know if I got in or not.

Seriously. Who would have thought? Its like were all standing in line for an Elvis Pressley concert (I know , I know) or something. Waiting to see if there are enough seats for us and the doors don't open till noon.

Who is signing up for the Wookie party? I am thinking about it.

Hi We thought about the Wookie party but $99 for two hours - yikes - a little too steep for my blood since I'm an annual passholder. Someone asked about doing all three races - I did that for the Princess races this year - no problem with using the Jeff Galloway method and starting the training at least four months ahead of time - I put compression sleeves on after the 10K and a quick lukewarm bath to rest my legs-as well as hot tub--it was great fun and I'm going to try again for Star Wars races!

I will probably sign up for the Rebel Challenge and that's it. Instead of the Wookie party I might just spend one day in that park. I have never been to DL before. I have been to WDW MANY times but not DL.

Quick (stupid) question: For the 1st time, I decided to go with a travel provider since the GET Travel package matched my plan for the trip anyway. Talked to them and paid yesterday, have receipt from them, so I don't need to worry about doing anything when booking opens today right? She said I'd get an email to complete the info for active and that I was officially in as of our conversation yesterday, with no rush to register today, but I just wanted to be sure since this is my first time going the travel provider route. (Obviously emailing them too but they don't open for a while!) Thanks in advance!

I used them for this year's Tink. They sent a form that asks all the questions needed for the race, like pace and t-shirt size. It was such a relief not to have to wait at the computer on registration day. :)

That's how I am, can't justify the wookie party, would rather use that for park passes and meals. Being this is also out first DL trip.

Got DW and I registered for Rebel Challenge this morning using one of the TA listed on runDisney's site. Rebel Challenge and 1 day park ticket for $435.00. Well worth not having to stress about if I can get in or not.

Has anyone found an active link? Trying to avoid the rdisney traffic for the inevitable bandwidth crash

It's a nice feeling isn't it? I am registering DD for the kids race and I'm not stressing right now like I would be

Also May the force be with everyone wanting to register this morning!

I wish I had done that now. I just took this time off work to sit here by my computer and wait...for noon time. A possible crash on the site...and retrying to no joy then go back to work with no registration complete.

Lets see what happens.

I would go through the active link someone posted above, no worries of RunDisney site crashing

I am still trying to decide if I should do the 10K alone or add the 5K too!

I am not doing the wookie party, that is too steep for a 2 hour party when it will be a vacation trip for the husband and daughter as well.

It is almost 2am where I am. I'll be cranky tomorrow morning if I stayed up this late and then miss out!

Fingers crossed for everyone trying to register! :)
